Chapter 680
Chapter 680 Go Fishing
As soon as Michael heard William say he would take responsibility, his guard shot up.
"Why does my wife need you to take responsibility?"
"Who's your wife?"
"Don't go shouting that around!"
Chloe and Candy chimed in almost simultaneously, not giving Michael an ounce of grace.
William remained unfazed. "What I meant was that I'll cover all the medical expenses."
Michael scoffed, saying, "We don't need your charity."
He thought to himself, "I'm not broke; I can pay for my own wife's treatment without someone else footing the bill."
"If there's nothing else, I'll just head out," William said, answering a phone call before wrapping up the conversation.
Chloe nodded. She had brought him over mainly for this discussion; everything else could wait.
"Chloe, I'm truly sorry for what's happened. I have no objections to how you choose to handle that guy," William said before he left the villa. Once he was gone, Candy turned to Chloe with a spark of excitement in her eyes. "Hey, how about we go fishing tomorrow?"
Chloe raised an eyebrow, thinking, "Fishing? Where did that idea come from?"
"I checked the weather, and it looks like it'll be nice! Plus, it'll be a great way to unwind and connect with nature. Come on, what do you say?" She looked at Chloe with such enthusiasm that it was hard to refuse.
"Do you know any good fishing spots around here?" Chloe asked, curious.
Candy nodded vigorously. "Absolutely! Wesley mentioned a place just the other day!"
She had been itching to go fishing for a while but hadn't found the time.
Now, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to get Chloe out of the house and away from her worries about her potential infectiondt was a win-win!
"Has Wesley gone back yet?" Chloe inquired.
Candy glanced at the calendar. "Not yet, but he might be able to join us tomorrow."
Chloe considered it for a moment. "I'm not really in bad shape. I don't have any symptoms except for some fatigue from being pregnant. So why not enjoy a day out?
If the test results come back positive in twenty-eight days, I'll have plenty of time to sulk. For now, I should just try to forget about it."
Michael and James were waiting for her response, not rushing to voice their opinions.
After a thoughtful pause, Chloe finally said, "If the weather's nice tomorrow, let's go!"
Candy erupted in cheers, raising her arms in victory. "Yes! We're going fishing!"
That night, instead of heading back to Wesley's place, Candy insisted on sharing a room with Chloe.
Michael, overhearing this, felt a twinge of jealousy as he watched Candy happily link her arm with Chloe's and lead her upstairs.
James, sitting in the living room, couldn't help but notice Michael's gloomy expression. "What's got you all worked up?"
Michael pressed his lips, thinking, "What do you think? It's because Candy is hogging Chloe!"
"Come on, even if Candy's not here, you won't share a room with Chloe. Why are you getting all bent out of shape?" James said, rolling his eyes. Michael's scowl deepened.Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
He thought, "Why can't I share a room with Chloe? Why does Candy get to?"
"Look who's talking! The only relationship you've ever had fizzled out without a trace. What do you know about love?" Michael shot back.
With that, Michael stormed upstairs,
leaving James to ponder, "What did I do to deserve this? I can't even win a verbal spar with that guy anymore. I can't believe I'm losing to him in everything!"
"Yeah, keep talking! You know about love and end up divorcing. No wonder Chloe doesn't want to be with you!" James called after him, shaking his head as he returned to his game.
