Chapter 29
Chapter 29 A Billion Dollars
Leah contemplated momentarily and replied, "I can set any price I want? Are you sure?"
"As long as it's within a reasonable range."
"How about 50 million dollars?"
"That's fine."
Leah raised an eyebrow, amused by Quentin's swift acceptance.
"It appears you're quite enthusiastic about collaborating with our company. Alright, I'll throw in an additional 50 million dollars. If that suits you, I'll agree to the partnership, albeit somewhat reluctantly." Quentin didn't mind the extra 50 million dollars, totaling up to a billion dollars.
"That sounds good," he replied.
Leah smirked, though her smile didn't reach her eyes.
"Well then, here's to a successful partnership."
"Sure," Quentin replied casually.
When their discussion concluded, Layla hurried over from the lobby. "Miss Wilson, it's time for us to go," she said.
"Let's go," Leah replied.
Leah withdrew her gaze from Quentin and walked out with Layla.
Layla couldn't resist asking as they walked away, "Miss Wilson, it seemed you were quite unhappy dealing with Mr. Worthington. Why did you agree to collaborate with him? Aren't you just inviting trouble?" Leah chuckled softly, "I don't turn down money from scoundrels."
Layla nodded in agreement. "That makes sense."
Quentin finished his conversation with Leah and instructed his driver to wait at the entrance.
However, just as he was about to leave, Sharon rushed out.
"Quentin." she called out.Material © of NôvelDrama.Org.
Quentin stopped. His expression was noticeably colder than usual.
"What's the matter?" He asked.
Feeling Quentin's distant demeanor, Sharon bit her lip, and tears filled her eyes.
"Quentin, I have to let you know I have no idea what happened in the lobby earlier. I had the necklace on, and I'm still trying to figure out how it ended up in Miss Wilson's bag. Do yott... Do you trust me?"
Maria, beside her, chimed in. "Mr. Worthington, you've known Sharon for a long time. You're aware of her character, right? It seems like Leah deliberately did something tomake Sharon look bad."
Sharon's eyes became watery as she fought back tears, giving her a look of great sorrow.
"Quentin, I don't care what others think, but you mean the world to me. I... I hope you can trust me."
Quentin raised his enigmatic eyes and fixed on Sharon.
"Do you genuinely have no idea what happened?"
Sharon's face turned pale as she was questioned. Tears welled up in her eyes.
"Quentin... What do you mean by that? Do you really think I had something to do with it?"
Quentin gave Sharon a penetrating look. His subsequent words further worsened her complexion.
"This is a one-time thing. It won't happen again," Quentin stated firmly.
Just as the driver pulled up the car, Eli hurried to open the door for Quentin. Quentin got inside, and the driver drove away.
Sharon watched as the taillights of
the Maybach gradually disappeared. She clenched her hands tightly, her
fingertips digging into her skin,
leaving a deep groove in the palm of her hand.
Maria tried to console her. "Sharon, don't dwell on it too much. Mr. Worthington was just upset in the heat of the moment. He'll surely come to talk to you when he calms down."
Sharon's eyes betrayed a hint of resentment, though she didn't want to show it in front of Maria. She responded casually, "Yes."
Maria hastily added, "But remember, all of this is Leah's fault. I've devised a plan to give her a taste of her medicine. I'm unsure if you'll agree to go along with it."
