“No wonder Nelson places so much importance on this. With such a big client, our pack won’t have to worry about sales for the whole year!”
“Did you see how handsome that man is? Is the woman at the side his rumored mate?”
“I think so. She’s so pretty! How did they manage to look better in real life than in photos?”
“With the wealth they possess, my dear.”
“We can never understand the world of the wealthy.”
Nelly could vaguely hear the conversation outside, their excitement piquing her curiosity.
What kind of client would make them so thrilled?
She glanced at Chris and saw him sitting up straight, his expression turning serious.
At that moment, someone entered the room. “Chris, Nelson is calling you guys.”
Chris stood up sternly and walked over, followed closely by three others. As he passed by Nelly, he paused and warned her, “Remember what I said. Don’t interrupt!”
“Okay!” Nelly replied with a smile.
After Chris left, she quietly trailed behind him.
Upon entering the meeting room, Nelly noticed that Nelson was in the midst of speaking to the client. “Don’t worry, Mr. Morris. We’re professionals. We’ll definitely meet your requirements.” Nelson turned and smiled when he saw Chris, adding, “This is our pack’s strongest team. They’ve already come up with a solution to your problems.”
As Nelson moved aside, Nelly’s eyes fell upon the person sitting in front. Her expression stiffened.
Is that Alpha Kilian?
Although she had expected to meet him again, this encounter was beyond surprising.
She averted her gaze, pretending not to notice him, but Alpha Kilian had already caught sight of her among the men.
Nelly? No, it can’t be her. We’re worlds apart. How could she be the same person?
“Mr. Morris? Mr. Morris?” Nelson called out, interrupting Alpha Kilian’s thoughts. When the woman seated beside him noticed his unusual reaction, she followed his gaze and glanced at Nelly.
Suppressing any hint of recognition, she spoke on Alpha Kilian’s behalf, “Ask your team to take a seat!”
Nelson gestured for them to sit. Nelly, being a listener rather than a core member of the project, chose the seat farthest away from Alpha Kilian.
Alpha Kilian discreetly averted his gaze. “Mr. Yondel, do introduce your team.”Content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
Nelson smiled. “Chris Dunne is our pack’s most skilled coder. This is Tommy Hanson, Ross Donovan, and Leo Galvan. The last person is new to our pack. She’s not part of the project, but she’s here to listen in.”
Nelson purposely omitted Nelly’s name. Meanwhile, she sat there calmly, expressionless, acting as if she didn’t recognize Alpha Kilian.
Alpha Kilian stared at her for a while, hoping to find something familiar about her. But he couldn’t find any traces.
“Alpha Kilian, we have other places to go later. Shall we begin now?” Lara, his rumored mate, prompted.
He averted his gaze and nodded. “Let’s start.”
Chris stood up and addressed the issues Alpha Kilian had raised. However, Alpha Kilian didn’t pay attention. He kept stealing glances at Nelly, who was diligently jotting down notes in her notebook.
Ever since her return, Nelly had prepared herself for the day Alpha Kilian would discover her true identity. Though this encounter was abrupt, it was better than him seeing her with the children directly.
The meeting continued for about twenty minutes.
In the end, Nelson glanced at Alpha Kilian. “What do you think, Mr. Morris?”
Lost in his thoughts, Alpha Kilian remained silent.
Lara spoke up, “Mr. Yondel, your proposal is indeed impressive. However, we need to discuss it internally first. Once we’ve reached a decision, we’ll provide you with a reply.”
Nelson panicked, but he had no choice but to accept her words. “Yes, please take your time. If Mr. Morris or your pack have any other requests, we’ll do our best to fulfill them.”
Smiling, Lara nodded, gathered the documents, and glanced at Alpha Kilian. “Alpha Kilian, let’s go.”
He stood up and was about to leave, but when he reached the meeting room’s entrance, he turned back and locked eyes with Nelly. “What’s your name?”
Nelly and everyone else in the room were stunned, their gazes turning toward her.
Nelly remained composed, shooting a glance at Lara before lying, “Sally.”
Sally… Of course. She can’t be the person I thought she was.
Though they looked similar, their attire, demeanor, and makeup were completely different.
Alpha Kilian looked away and left.
Everyone exchanged puzzled looks in the meeting room. What was Alpha Kilian trying to achieve?
After they were gone, Nelson returned. “Do you know Mr. Morris, Nelly?”
“No.” Nelly calmly shook her head.
“Why did you say your name is Sally?” Nelson asked, confused.
“He asked so casually, so I gave a casual response,” Nelly explained, wanting to move on from the incident.
Chris, observant as always, didn’t believe her explanation. He glanced at her and muttered, “Women always complicate things.” With that, he got up and left.
Nelly was left speechless.
What does this have to do with me?
As she made her way to leave, Nelson stopped her. “Nelly, do you know who the woman beside Mr. Morris is?”
“No.” Nelly shook her head, not wanting to delve into anything related to Alpha Kilian.
“She’s Mr. Morris’s rumored mate. Do you understand what I’m trying to say?” Nelson warned. “She’s his trusted assistant, playing a vital role in determining whether our proposal gets chosen. The decision rests completely in her hands.”
“And?” Nelly questioned.
Nelson sighed, exasperated. “Mr. Morris is still young and desires new experiences. However, for the past few years, Lara has been loyal to him. Remember what I say. Don’t offend her, or neither of us will fare well.”
There was nothing else Nelly could say.
Nelson genuinely cared about her. Instead of pushing her away, he wanted her to protect herself.
“Don’t worry. Even if all the women are drawn to Alpha Kilian’s allure, he means nothing to me. I’ll avoid him like the plague.”
Only then did Nelson nod in relief. “Good, you understand. Don’t dig your own grave.”
Nelly listened to his advice quietly.
Lara stood outside the door, an unsettling smirk curling her lips as she overheard their conversation.
