Chapter 8
Chapter 8
Osiris pov
When I entered Alpha Edward’s packhouse Lily was just leaving, I could feel Santos was excited to see her again.
“Say something nice or apologize. Or maybe be rude like last time and we will see the fire in her eyes again,” Santos said.
She looked really pretty though, she had a nice dress on and her hair up. I could feel Santos staring at her neck.
“Down boy” I told him jokingly. I could smell the scent of apples and cinnamon fill the room and I smiled at Lily. I had hoped to run into her while I was here. Lily apologized for leaving and all I could think of was saying “Hi Lily.”
Alpha Edward and I continued to his office where we spoke for a bit and then headed to dinner. I didn’t take Beta Riker with me this time, he had other obligations. The rogue attacks were more frequent now and I needed someone to keep an eye on our border security.
When dinner was over we went in the office again and talked a bit more, Alpha Edward could be a great resource. Not only did he have great connections to other packs, it turned out Alpha Edward had a lot of fertile land that was not being used yet. With my help he could set up some farms there, I had a couple of farmers that wouldn’t mind moving up here for the right reasons. They’ve been complaining about our climate, the Iron River pack was known for its warm temperatures. But Alpha Edward’s Moon Stone pack actually has seasons. It even snowed here during the winter.
I suddenly heard the front door open and closed loudly and footsteps running up the stairs.
“It’s probably Lily, my youngest. You ran into her in the hallway right? I love all my kids equally, but she has always been different. My other daughters take after my Luna, but Lily is just like my mother. My mother was the best Luna, kind and generous. But sometimes her head was too much in the clouds. She
was the one that gave Lily her first paint and brushes. Whenever Lily is upset or happy she just paints,” Alpha Edward said lovingly.
He really did seem to love his kids. My parents died when I was a teenager, Beta William took over for a few years until I was old enough to become Alpha. I always felt loved by my parents, even if my dad could be a grumpy bastard at times. Hearing Alpha Edward talk about his kids made me miss my own parents.
“What does she paint?” I asked.
“Flowers and landscape mostly, her whole room is covered in those damn paintings,” Alpha Edward laughed. He then sounded more serious “I worry about Lily sometimes, my other daughters seem to be more confident and get more attention. While Lily is often left behind. I really hope she finds a mate that sees Lily for who she is. But it’s in the Goddess’ hands,” he paused. “I am sorry Alpha Osiris, this conversation was supposed to be about our packs.”
I smiled “no problem Alpha Edward. But perhaps we could finish this conversation tomorrow? It’s getting late.”
I had booked an hotel room in the city, I did not want to force Alpha Edward to invite me to spend the night at the packhouse out of obligation. We had only just started our negotiations and I didn’t want to overstep. “We could have seen Lily again if we stayed here,” Santos said. I said goodbye to Alpha Edward and ignored Santos, all my stuff was already at the hotel anyway.
I drove to the hotel, went to my room and quickly went to bed. When I woke up I took a shower and opened the window. I could smell food coming from a lunchroom across the street, it made my stomach rumble.
“Let’s eat there!” Santos shouted in my head, clearly also feeling hungry. Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
I went inside and took a table at the back, the food was just as good as it smelled and I enjoyed every bite in silence until I heard a few guys talking near me. “
I have been trying to get her to sleep with me for weeks. I am almost turning 18 and might meet my mate soon. I want to spend as much time with other women before I commit to one for the rest of my life” one of the men said.
His friend chimed in “but isn’t it a waste of time to quit now? It sounds like you’re really close to convincing her.”
I hated those type of guys, people want to have sex with you or they don’t. No one should be pressured into having sex. Usually I don’t interfere with other people’s business, but Santos was getting really annoyed at hearing them talk.
I stood up and walked past their table. “She sounds like she’s not really into you. Break it off.”
I could hear the guys whispering “was that Alpha Osiris? Damn, he really does look as savage as they say.”
I walked around the city a bit and then went to the packhouse to meet Alpha Edward. We finalized a deal for our pack. I would provide the knowledge and the farmers for his land and he would give me a percentage of all the food that they made.
Alpha Edward also promised to put in a good word with his other allies “you’re really different than your reputation would suggests” Alpha Edward said. “Would you like to join us for lunch before you leave?”
I accepted his invitation and we walked to the dining room. I saw Lily standing in the corner and walked over to her, not even sure what I was going to say. Lily turned around and when she saw me tears came pouring down.
“Just because you think I’m ugly doesn’t mean you have to ruin it for me with others,” she said.
“I don’t think you’re ugly Lily”, I said and she just ran out.
What was she talking about? I didn’t even know she was dating anyone, her father mentioned nothing about this last night. Luckily Alpha Edward didn’t notice our conversation, because I had no idea how to explain any of this.
“Great going” Santos said sarcastically “she hates us even more now.”
