Alpha's Blind Luna

Chapter 29

Morgan and Auri had moved their conversation to inside the tent but somehow I got roped into the tent as well. Now, they were sitting at the table, coffee in front of both of them while I had a feast in front of me. Auri had made an entire breakfast spread for me.

"The boy may be a werewolf but I don't think he can eat this much, princess." Morgan chuckled as he took out a cigarette packet and hit it against his hand.

'He's my son, Papa. I'll treat him exactly how I treat all my children.' Auri smiled and took a sip of her coffee.

Her words made my face go red, her already accepting me as her son. I hadn't felt this kind of warmth since I got my wolf. Once it was apparent that I was not going to be as strong of an Alpha as my brother, my parents focused their attention on my brother. Then to my nephew. I hadn't actually spoken to my mother in years and I felt a pang of jealously before I stuffed it down.

My eyes widened as I watched Morgan pass a cigarette to Auri and light it for her before lighting himself one. I had never seen a she-wolf smoke before.

"What would you like first?" Morgan said, after blowing some smoke up into the air.

'Whatever. I feel like I'm going to be disappointed no matter what you start with.'

Morgan chuckled. "You're right about that." He took another drag and exhaled. "Alright, so I confirmed they are the ones with Nova 2.0. It seems like they have runners and are distributing it to the majority of the packs on our list."

'That's the good news?'

"Yes. The okay news is that while they are holed up just outside of the forest, their built for attacking, not for defending. It will be an easy clean sweep if you want to go in alone."

She nodded and I choked on some of the sausage. "Alone? You wouldn't let her go alone, would you?"

Morgan chuckled and tapped his cigarette in the little ash tray he had pulled out of his pocket at the beginning of the conversation. "Son, we would only get in her way. You obviously don't know who you are dealing with."

'Oh, he's been explained. Maybe a little too aggressively. I am sorry about that, by the way. I misjudged your height. I thought Vale was wrong with you being not quite 6ft.'

"I was always on the small side."

"That just means you're faster. I mean, look at my dear daughter. 5ft 6in and I bet you couldn't even track her movements." Morgan smiled, like a proud father as he ruffled her hair.

She swatted him away but it made me smile. 'Alright, enough! That's not way to treat your Alpha. Now get to the bad news.'

"Bad news number one is that the drugs are dropped to them."

Auri cursed and put the butt of her cigarette into the ashtray before grabbing another one.

"What does that mean?" I looked at Morgan, wondering why that was the bad news.

"Because it means that even if we tortured them, we would never get the people behind the curtain. We are looking for the ones making the drugs. To be able to stop it before it destroys the entire werewolf race."

Auri sighed and rubbed her forehead as she leaned back in her chair. 'I mean it would be good to get a major distributor shut down. But I'm afraid that they will find another way to distribute it or we are going to lose our chance at the makers.'

Morgan nodded. "I did say it was bad news."

'What's the other bad news?'

"They look like, whatever they were planning with this pack, is happening soon. They look like they are gearing up for an assault in the next few days."

'Fuck.'

I jumped, my spoon clanging against the side of the bowl with the leftover soup. I thought Morgan was right that I was never going to finish the amount of food in front of me but I was already on the last bowl Auri had made. She chuckled.

'Sorry, sweetheart. I'm not your typical Luna type. I'm sure your mom was much more poised and collected then I am.'

I chuckled hollowly. "She was there for my dad and my brother. I watched her be the perfect Luna and mother. When you have a wolf who doesn't speak though, and you end up being on the small side, as a Silver it was more of an insult to them."

'I would love to meet your mother before we leave.'

"Cub." His tone was a warning and she put up her hands.

'What? He is my son now too. I would never raise my hand to someone who couldn't fight back.'

I coughed and smiled. "I'll need to say goodbye anyways. So she knows what's going on, if Owen hasn't already complained to her already." "Owen is your nephew?"

Nodding, I finished off the last bite of soup. "He's been refusing to become Alpha for years. Even after he found his mate."

"Sounds spoiled." Morgan gasped as Auri elbowed him in the side.

"Maybe. He never wanted to talk about why he never wanted to be Alpha. I just thought since I have been doing it for so long, until the Elders finally just kicked me out, I would continue."

There was a silence that filled the tent and I watched as Morgan and Auri finished their cigarettes. Morgan looked at his watch and sighed.

"I'm going to take a shower. I'll catch up Bryan and Hector with what is going on. We'll plan to strike.....”

'Tomorrow, Papa. We will go tomorrow.'

He nodded. "Alright."

"I can send warriors with you, if you need backup." I quickly added.

Auri shook her head. 'We will settle on a plan and then make sure you have your borders secured incase any of them try to flee south. That way we can cover the north, east and west without feeling stretched thin.'

"I can..."

Auri shook her head again. 'Vale would refuse to speak to me if I let you anywhere near the fighting, Ezekiel. That's not something I want to chance.' She winked at me and got up, grabbing the plates in front of me.

I started to get up to help but she shook her head. Going over to the mini-kitchen, she started cooking again. My eyebrow rose but I saw Bryan and Hector both come out of one of the tents flaps.

"You boys sure slept in. It's already past five." Morgan chuckled but he quickly swept the ashtray and cigarettes off the table. He winked at me and I smiled.

"What's Alpha Ezekiel doing here so early?" Bryan yawned and stretched. "Goddess, the weather up here hurts my leg." He leaned down and rubbed his leg, leaning against his cane for support.

Hector huffed and walked behind Auri, looking over her shoulder at the food. "I think you should let Lucy replace that thing. It's more useless as it now."

"I'm not fighting anymore, Hector. I'm done. That time has passed even if you and Alpha seem to like to kill each other ever day for training."

Auri raised her hand, her middle finger waving at Bryan and I chuckled. "Seriously though, what are you doing here?"

"I was going on a run early this morning. Got caught snooping on Alpha Auri and some of the fey."

"Ah. Then she fed you? As per usual when she picks up new children."

Auri wheezed, laughing and shaking her head. Hector kissed the top of her head and sat down at the table. My eyes looked at the two of them, my curiosity piqued.

"Are you and Alpha Auri together?" I looked at Hector.

His eyes went wide and his face turned a shade of crimson. Both Morgan and Bryan were looking anywhere but us, nearly starting to whistle as they found other things to occupy their hands.

"I...we...um..."

Auri walked over, setting plates of food on the table. 'Hector and I have known each other for a long time. We are comfortable with each other and we do love one another but if you thinking of it in a mate way, then no. We are not.' She brushed Hectors hair back, quickly braiding it before kissing his forehead.

He smiled and cupped her cheek, brushing his thumb across her skin. It was simple and quiet but you could tell they loved one another. Obviously, she was the Luna Queen and her mate was the previous Alpha King and I knew he hadn't died yet, so her being Alpha of her own pack now seemed weird.

"What about Alpha King Logan?"

Bryan growled, sitting at the table. "He is neither a King or an Alpha. He is Logan, idiot wolf and..."

A mitten flew across the room and smacked Bryan right in the face before he could finish. He grumbled while Morgan and Hector chuckled.Content rights belong to NôvelDrama.Org.

"You know better."

'Come on, Ezekiel. I'll escort you back to your pack house. Let these idiots eat and work.'

Auri walked over and looped arms with me as soon as she stood up. I gave the guys a wave as we exited the ten. She was smiling and I looked down at her, feeling that as big of a personality and presence she had, she still was tiny walking next to me. I wondered if this is how Vale would feel if I walked next him. She was about six inches shorter than I was. I didn't know how tall Vale was or if he was even done growing.

"How old is Vale?"

Her head turned to regard me. 'He's 21. So, nine years younger than you, I believe.'

I coughed. She was right. He was so young. I took over as Alpha when he was four! She must have caught my wince because she was laughing. Shaking my head, I bumped her but she didn't even stumble.

'You, Ezekiel, in a lot of ways, are much younger than my son. So don't worry about the age gap.'

"I'm not sure if that makes me feel better or worse."

Auri was laughing again and we talked about different things the pack had to offer. We got on the subject of traditions and she was elated when I knew just about every tradition we kept, drilling me about the moon goddess rituals we had. Smiling, I also started to explain the ones we had shelved over the years when we got to the pack house.

Opening up the door for her, I walked in and she stepped aside for one of the omega's running by. The omega apologized profusely but Auri just smiled, using sign language with him. He chuckled and thanked her before leaving.

"I didn't realize that anyone knew sign language."

'It's popular amongst omegas because sometimes they are too shy to speak. I can't see them sign back but they can at least understand me.' Her smile was bright as she took my arm again. 'Shall we test our theory on your kitchen?'

"I don't think I could eat anymore after this morning."

'Having a bite of a muffin I smell in the kitchen wouldn't be all that bad. Come on.'

Begrudgingly, I lead her into the kitchen and was surprised to see Rose, Cory and Leo at the kitchen table. Leo looked over and his face went red, looking away. Cory cleared his throat but Rose beamed up at me. She took a minute before she realized I was escorting Auri.

"I'm sorry. I didn't meet you the other day. My name is Rose."

Auri reached out and held her hand out. Rose took it and shook her hand.

"This is Alpha Auri of the Golden Moon pack." I smiled down at her. "This is The Huntress, as well as Alpha King Vale's mother."
