Chapter 28- A pleading vision

A Lycan? Lucy traced her memories back to her high school days. They were taught about Lycans back then, so why was her memory clouded?
Slowly it dawned on her about the rarity of white wolves. She was so lost, appreciating her wolf’s beauty, that the colour of Emery’s furs completely missed her. Only the past Luna Queen, Sarah had white furs. But that was because she was the daughter of the moon goddess.
Lycans were once powerful creatures, more than the werewolves. They commanded the werewolf world centuries ago but over time, their reign deteriorated. And when the moon goddess created the four great descendant brothers gifting them each an elemental power, the Lycans were overpowered easily.
Now, Lycans were only found in history textbooks. The last one seen was a male Lycan decades ago, so why did she have a Lycan’s distinctive crescent sign on her forehead?
Lucy ran behind a tree and shifted back to her human body. The shifting no longer caused her any pain. It was surprising how fast her body adapted to shape shifting.
‘I have my eyes closed, so you can come out’, her mate yelled out, reading her mind.
‘My Alpha, I am a lowly omega. Although I was once a beta’s daughter, I have been disowned and do not even dare to claim to be such a powerful mythical creature’, Lucy replied, peeking her head and noticing that Caleb had truthfully closed his eyes.
‘You saw the size of your wolf too Lucy. She was as big as me. How do you explain that?’, Caleb grinned as he crossed his arms. Lucy stole more glances at her mate, she felt like she was taking advantage of the fact that he had his eyes closed. She shouldn’t really be prying so much on a naked Alpha.Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
‘I-I don’t know. My father was a beta and all my life, I thought I had beta’s blood running in me’, she replied running her hands through her blonde hair nervously. It was no longer matted like before and was getting silkier every day. Although it was much to do with the fact that she was no longer bleeding all the time and had blood clots leaving residues in her hair. She had come so far, away from the abuse of her past pack.
‘Lucy, if you want to put your trust on me. I can do some digging for you. My wolf’s size is second only to Dante’s and that’s only because he is the Alpha King. So, your wolf being almost the same size as me, means something’.
Lucy could be many things, but she was not stu. pid. She knew it did not make sense as to why Emery was as big as her mate’s wolf.
‘Fine, but I lost my mum when I was young’, she told her mate slowly. ‘So, I only have my dad who is now a former beta and is in retirement. So, I don’t know how you will be able to do any digging?’.
“I am sorry to hear about your mother, Lucy’, Caleb sincerely offered his condolences. ‘But I have my ways and will get to the bottom of this for you and for Emery as well’.
Lucy threw a quick glance at him again when he mentioned Emery, ‘How did you-‘.
‘My wolf, Titan told me her name. They made contact already’, there was a clear smile dancing on his face. ‘Since our werewolves live in our subconscious state of mind and lay dormant there, they can reach out to their mates and communicate’.
‘Titan’, Lucy whispered. Knowing the name of her mate’s wolf sent butterflies to her stomach and suddenly she felt lightheaded. No wonder Emery was quiet of all of a sudden. ‘Can we go back to the mansion please? I don’t know the way’.
‘Can you shift again Lucy?’, her mate asked, cautious of Lucy’s health.
‘The first shift already drained so much energy out of me. I don’t think I can anymore. Is it possible to walk back?’, a clueless Lucy asked.
Caleb answered in roars of laughter. ‘Lucy, if we walk back, it will take us days. You can climb on top of me’. Within seconds, Caleb shifted into his dark brown wolf. And only then did Lucy notice, he had silver strips around his necks, it made him look very majestic and she was in awe.
Titan backed up slowly as he finally reached to where Lucy was. He lowered his neck for Lucy to climb on. She was amazed to compare how tiny her human self was to his wolf.
Nervously, she gripped on to his front fur and climbed on top of him.
‘I am ready’, she whispered and that was enough to send the Alpha wolf sprinting.
It felt like time was passing slower as the touch of his soft fur against her skin sent tingles down her spine. The scent of the ocean breeze was magnified because of how close she was to him. She could live just for this scent. It was mesmerising.
Though Caleb was running in a straight line and there were not many obstacles to jump over. Every now and then, he would raise his hindquarters into the air while throwing back kicks. When he did that, she would slide up and down because of the erratic movements.
‘It almost felt like’, Lucy’s thoughts trailed.
‘Riding him’, Emery finished for him.
‘Yes’, she agreed subconsciously before she realised how dirty her wolf was. Immediately blushing, she shushed her naughty wolf.
Once they were finally close to the mansion, Caleb stopped and lowered himself.
Lucy hopped off and grabbed her shawl that she had dropped earlier and covered her body as much as she could. It had been an extremely long night for her.
Caleb seemed to have found a pair of shorts and was already watching her now.
‘Thank you for helping me with the shift earlier’, Lucy tried finding the most appropriate words. With that she turned around and started walking back to the mansion when she was grabbed again.
‘You forgot these’, her mate’s deep voice echoed in the big wide forest as he handed her a familiar locket. ‘You dropped them earlier. I figured it was important to you since you looked worried over it’.
Lucy’s big blue eyes stared at the locket in her mate’s hands as she tried to hold herself from choking with tears. She ran into his arms overwhelmed and stammered trying to thank him.
Her scent of roses pleasantly filled his nostrils. And he wanted to hold and caress her gently like she was the most delicate thing in the world.
But he knew that Lucy’s feelings and emotions were heightened due to her first shapeshift.
So, he stood still, letting her mate sob. He did not like her crying, but he knew those were not sad tears. He could just feel it.
‘Lucy, its only day one of the 29 days challenge. Have you fallen in love with me already?’, Caleb joked, trying to lighten her mood.
Lucy laughed through her teary face and grabbed the locket from his hands.
‘You wish’, she teased him a little and went running in the direction of the mansion, leaving the silver haired Alpha smiling after her.

Jo spent the next few days inside her room, refusing to come out. She still had heard nothing about the royal healers. It felt like Dante was playing with her for some reason.
How did she lower her guards and let him touch her that night?
But it felt so natural for his hands to be on her body. The thoughts haunted her needless to say.
Despite her friends trying desperately to make her come out of the four walled room, she refused to give up. She was afraid that if she came across Dante again, she would feel weak. And feeling weak was something in the past for her.
Jo had lost track of how many days had passed by, but she did not care.
She heard the turning of the doorknobs and immediately got into her self-defence mood, covering her face with the blankets. Her hair and face were a mess right now. She even managed to give Mina a heart attack with her dark circles when the green haired fairy came to drop off some breakfast.
Jo hissed at the intruder from behind the safety covers of her blanket, waiting to pounce on anyone unfamiliar. But a joyful Evelyn skipped inside.
‘Pwetty Siren’, she whispered. Jo noticed that she only called her that when no one was around.
Jo smiled weakly at her tiny friend, ‘Come here, Eve’.
‘Ohh, I like Eve. It sounds pwetty like you’, the princess innocently replied as she went straight for Jo’s lap again.
As Jo stroked the princess’s soft mixed colour fair, she realised how adorable the little girl was.
‘Jo, you are my friend, right?’, the princess asked with her big puppy eyes.
‘Yes, sweet Eve’.
‘I wroteee something last night. Can you read it for me pleasuu?’, the princess handed over a little folded paper without waiting for a reply.
Jo gladly took the paper and unfolded it gently. And she was not prepared for what the letter contained. It read:
The Alpha king’s vulnerability
Leading from the front,
He shields his kind.
Just and fairness,
Is the belief of the Alpha king.
*
Sacrificing his love,
For the sake of his pack.
Standing alone, trapped in his marriage.
Oh, dear Alpha King.
*
Longing for his true mate,
But holding back
For the forbidden book predicts
A chaos from their fated unison.
*
So, hear the silent cries of this great Alpha king,
Who waits for someone,
To see past his barriers
And help him embrace his vulnerability.
*
Oh, dear Alpha King, please embrace your vulnerability.
-End of letter-
Jo had tears in her eyes over how beautifully written it was, especially coming from a young princess.
‘This was very moving. Your imagination is amazing Evelyn. Don’t ever forget that’, the siren praised the princess.
‘But this is real. Not an imagina-sioon. Moon goddess told me’, her eyes were brimming with tears.
‘What do you mean? Why are you crying?’, a worried Jo wiped her tears away.
‘The Alfaa king in my writing is my bowther. This is real Jo. Pleasuu help my bowwther Dante’.
