Back in Time: Unshackling From Love (Mikayla Davidson)

Chapter 29

Chapter 29

“I know what you want to say. Let’s talk in your study. I’ll explain everything.

Jerome bit back his tongue. He glanced at her before striding over to the study.

Mikayla followed after him calmly.

Jerome sat down on the sofa in the study and undid his tie. “How do you plan to explain? “he asked coldly.

Mikayla handed him the two documents.

“Here are two sets of divorce papers. One says I leave with nothing, while the other says you give me 100 million dollars in alimony. I’ve signed both. You can choose either one to sign.”

Jerome raised his head. “100 million dollars?”

As expected, a businessman prioritized profit. His first reaction was that it was too much.

“Yes,” Mikayla said. “You previously said you’d give me 10 million dollars, but I don’t think that’s enough.

“Technically speaking, you’re the wrongdoer in this marriage. Further, you’re in a bigger hurry than me to escape this marriage. Thus, I think it makes sense for you to give me 100 million dollars.”

Back then, in order to get divorced as quickly as possible, Mikayla hadn’t thought about

getting Jerome’s money.

But now, she wanted 100 million dollars to work together with Taylor.

If she could squeeze it out of Jerome and then use the money against him, it would feel

even more satisfying.

An ironic smile appeared on Jerome’s face, but he still said nothing. It was rare to see him wait patiently for Mikayla to continue speaking.

“Although I did impose this marriage on you, I’ve never done anything wrong to you, have 1? If we leave it up to the divorce court, the sum would be more than 100 million dollars,” she said persuasively.

“Now, you can spend 100 million dollars to buy your freedom and peace. In the future, you can be with whomever you want in public, and today’s situation will not repeat itself.

Isn’t that a win–win?”

Jerome snorted sarcastically. “I never realized you had such a silver tongue.”

Well, there was a lot that he hadn’t realized about her.

Seeing how unyielding Jerome was, Mikayla said, “Of course, you can choose not to give me a single cent. I definitely won’t call you petty for that. After all, I’m dead set on getting divorced.”

As soon as she said that, she inwardly wiped away her own tears.

It was one thing to get married to a man who didn’t care for her, but it was even worse

not to get some of his assets out of it. What a waste.

Hearing Mikayla’s regretful tone, Jerome wasn’t in a hurry to press her for answers. He placed his long legs on the coffee table and asked in a neutral voice, “Do you want even more money?”

Mikayla’s eyes widened slightly.

Jerome’s face remained unfazed. “Then keep being Mrs. Miller. Since we’re husband and wife, my money is also your money.”

“No, no.” Mikayla waved her hand. “I can’t do that. Let’s just settle the divorce soon.”

Jerome sneered, and his face darkened. “So your explanation is two sets of divorce papers?”

“That’s right,” Mikayla replied, “Didn’t you want to stand up for Kylie today? I’m vacating the position of Mrs. Miller. This way, Kylie won’t have to suffer anymore.

“Just sign the papers. We’ll keep one copy each, and we’ll get the divorce decree when the time comes. Don’t worry. Before everything is finalized, I won’t get involved in your business. You don’t even have to come home!”

Wanda had only made her promise not to move out, but she never said anything about. Jerome having to come home.

If she asked, she would just say he was on a business trip. Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.

It was just going to be 30 days. It would pass by in a blink of an eye.

She’d made such a considerate suggestion, but Jerome’s expression only got stormier. Even his gaze was tinged with ice.

Suddenly, he got up from the sofa. Mikayla was startled by this and shrank back. “What

me you doing

seeing how defensive and vigilant Mikayla looked, Jerome sneered. “Don’t do that. As if I have any interest in you!”

He might not have interest, but she couldn’t say the same about having a wild side. After he hit her lus that night, it had taken three days for the pain to go away.
