Chapter 31
Chapter 31
Jerome coldly stared at Mikayla, who was standing on the sofa. “My affairs are none of your concern. Show some sincerity if you really want a divorce!”
Having said that, he threw the divorce agreement on the table and walked straight to his
desk.
Mikayla thought she should have finalized the divorce last time. Jerome didn’t believe
her now.
Things wouldn’t become so complicated.
Feeling somewhat discouraged, Mikayla came down from the sofa. She took the divorce agreement and prepared to return to her room.
“Mikayla, stop making trouble all the time. I don’t have the patience to deal with your antics,” Jerome coldly warned her.
Was he trying to say she did all those things to Kylie just to lure him back?
He must be out of his mind!
“I don’t care if you have the patience to deal with me!” Mikayla raised her head and defiantly said, “I won’t stop until you sign the divorce agreement. You’ll regret it!”
She couldn’t be bothered with Jerome’s reaction. Holding her head high, she left.
Back in her room, Mikayla felt deflated.
That damned Jerome. Why couldn’t he trust her one more time?
She felt an urge to express her dissatisfaction. Hence, she called Celeste.
“Are you saying that Jerome would only agree to sign the divorce agreement if both your families approve it?”
Upon hearing what Mikayla said, Celeste thought it was weird.
“Why would he do that? Based on your description, he should be eager to sign the papers, whether you’re teasing him or not.”
“I know, right? He’s crazy.” Mikayla was furious.
“Kay, have you ever considered another possibility?” Celeste said ambiguously. Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
Mikayla asked, “What is it?”
Celeste said, “Maybe Jerome does have feelings for you. Right now, he doesn’t want to divorce you!”
“How is that possible?”
Mikayla didn’t believe it. She told Celeste what Jerome said about wanting to torment her.
“He’s just annoyed that I keep bringing up the divorce, so he tried to make things difficult for me. Yes, that’s it.
Realization dawned on Mikayla. Jerome was arrogant and proud. He would never willingly give her what she wanted, even if he felt that way inside.
“After Grandma’s birthday, he’ll definitely get a divorce with me.”
Upon hearing what Mikayla said, Celeste was left speechless. “You’re an exceptional woman. Not to mention, you two lived under the same roof for so long. Even a dog would…”
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to be vulgar.”
After apologizing, Celeste continued, “What I meant is Jerome might have developed feelings for you without realizing it himself.”
In the past, Mikayla would have been ecstatic to hear such words.
Now, she remained indifferent. “I know I’m an excellent woman. But he’s blind and doesn’t realize it. I won’t delude myself.”
Celeste sighed. “Don’t you want to hold on a bit longer?”
“I’m tired.” Mikayla sighed, too, as she lay down on the bed. “People say marriage is the tomb of love. Buy my love is one–sided. It’s my fault for trying to force him to like me.”
Just as Mikayla finished her self–deprecation, she heard footsteps near the door. She glanced over and saw nothing.
She went to close the door. Just to be safe, she locked it, too.
On the phone, Celeste comforted her, “There’s no need to be so pessimistic. At least your tried. If you never try, you’ll never know.”
“You got a point!” Mikayla joked with Celeste for a while before asking, “Did Dr. Chance like the gift you bought for him last time?”

At the mention of her husband, Celeste said sweetly, “He didn’t say anything. But he wore the clothes and brought the pen I bought him on his business trip to Lumina this time.
