Chapter 7
Chapter 7
Mikayla laughed mockingly at herself, pondering when Jerome had ever shown kindness
to lier.
Jerome had remained distrustful, believing she aimed to tarnish his reputation with this. divorce.
Getting divorced just a year after marriage was not a glorious thing, and she had no intention of publicizing it.
“I promise not to say a word. If you’re still worried, we can add it to the divorce. agreement,” Mikayla said.
Jerome felt the sting of her sarcastic smile and said, “Don’t dawdle. Sign it!”
Mikayla couldn’t be bothered to argue with Jerome, so she picked up the pen and promptly signed her name.
“Your turn!” She tossed the pen and the agreement to the far side of the coffee table, landing in front of Jerome.
“Since it was already printed, why didn’t he pre–sign it? What a waste of time!” Mikayla thought.
Jerome felt Mikayla’s disdain but restrained himself. It would be over soon, so he endured the last few minutes.
As he was about to sign, his phone suddenly rang.
It was Molly Green, the servant who usually attended to Wanda.
He was about to answer when Molly’s anxious voice came through. “Mr. Miller, Mrs. Miller Senior suddenly fainted! I’ve called the doctor. Please come of
over!!
Jerome quickly stood up and headed out.
“Where are you going?” Mikayla called. “Sign first!”
Suddenly, something crossed Jerome’s mind, and he glared at Mikayla. “Are you behind. this?”
Mikayla was baffled. She asked, “What do you mean? Who called just now?”
She intentionally sat far away from Jerome, so all she gathered was that the voice on the
other sounded urgent. She didn’t manage to catch the details.
Seeing Milayla’s surprised expression, Jerome didn’t investigate further.
“Mikayla, you’d better not play your dirty tricks on Grandma!”
With that, Jerome hurriedly left.
Based on his reaction and words, Mikayla concluded that the call was about Wanda. She quickly dialed a number from her phone.
Upon hearing from Molly that Wanda had fainted, Mikayla rushed out of City Hall.
Wanda had always treated her well. Not only did she arrange her marriage to Jerome, but she also stood up for her when she was mistreated. Exclusive content from NôvelDrama.Org.
The support from Wanda was what had sustained her marriage to Jerome. However, in her past lite, she had disappointed Wanda too much.
Subsequently, while residing in a mental health facility, she learned of Wanda’s less–than
optimal health. However, she lacked the vigor to delve into Wanda’s circumstances.
Although Mikayla wasn’t Wanda’s daughter in law anymore in this lifetime, she wouldn’t forget the kindness Wanda had shown her.
Since Jerome wasn’t in the parking lot, Mikayla had to hail a taxi and hurried to the Miller
Manor.
Upon entering the hall, she was astonished to discover an absence of doctors bustling about or servants in a state of panic.
Instead, Wanda was sitting in the armchair, looking perfectly healthy and glaring at
Jerome.
“Seems like you’ve grown some guts to divorce Kay behind my back!” Wanda said.
“Grandma, it’s really Mikayla-”
Before Jerome could finish speaking, Wanda swung her cane at him.
“Still trying to argue, huh? Kay loves you so much. Why would she suggest a divorce? Are you trying to make me mad?”
Due to her intense emotions, Wanda coughed a few times.
“Grandma!” Mikayla rushed to her side.
Wanda was somewhat pleased when she saw Mikayla. “You came just in time. Tell me, did this brat force you into the divorce?”
Mikayla glanced at Jerome, whose eyes were filled with a deep chill. If Wanda weren’t there, he probably would have killed her on the spot.
“Don’t you stare at Kay like that!”
Wanda hit Jerome with her cane again and turned to Mikayla. “Don’t be afraid. Tell me the truth. I have your back!”
Warmth surged in Mikayla’s heart.
She held Wanda’s hand and said gently, “Grandma, the divorce has nothing to do with Jerome. It’s my decision.”
Wanda comfortingly patted her hand and conveyed, “Kay, if you’ve faced any injustice, let me know. Whether Jerome needs to apologize or face reprimand, I’ll ensure he takes the necessary actions. Let’s refrain from jesting about divorce, though.”
Wanda still didn’t believe her.
Mikayla felt a bit helpless. “Grandma, I know you care about me, but I’m not joking. I’ve thought it through. I want a divorce.”
Wanda’s expression turned serious when she saw Mikayla’s determined expression.
“Kay, go to the prayer room with me.”
Half an hour later, with slightly red eyes, Mikayla helped Wanda back to the hall.
Wanda gave Jerome a stern look. “Take Kay home! If I find out you’re divorcing behind my back again, you’ll be in trouble!”
Jerome seemed unsurprised, and he coldly sneered before leaving.
“You brat!” Wanda scolded him, then held Mikayla’s hand with concern. “Kay, remember what you promised me.”
Mikayla nodded and said, “Grandma, you also have to promise me that after your
birthday next month, you won’t stop me from divorcing Jerome.” “What if Jerome falls in love with you by then?” Wanda asked.
