Chapter 31- One Mate At A Time
Sabrina's POV
"What's wrong with Xander?" I ask looking between my family. Aiden comes to stand behind me.
"It appears he was poisoned." Anthony says as he briskly walks in holding on to a brown glass bottle.
I snatch the bottle from him and the smell hits my nostrils before I can sniff it.
"What is this?" I ask.
"Anthony came back feeling a little faint after sending Xander back. I attended to him but he was able to heal and and...." My mother tries to explain. Anthony takes both my hands.
"Brina, I felt like death and I found this in the room where Xander was kept. I hung out with him, I drank with him before I took him back. This brown bottle was right behind the decanter, on top of the alcohol tray and the empty decanter smells of the same substance. Which is weird because we didn't smell anything like this at the time." Anthony explains.
I hold his hands tighter, trying to get a look at how bad he was in his head and my heart stops.
Xander was in trouble.
I pull away and run out of my office to go to earth and save Xander but Aiden calls out to me.
"Do you really think you'll make it in time?" He asks me. I turn around to face him.
"Aiden, I can't let a good man die. I know you don't like him but I have to try to save him.. I at least owe him that." I say and I make my way to earth, not giving Aiden another chance to say anything against Xander.
I make it in to Xander's room, where his parents sit by his bed.
"How is he?" I ask.
They don't look at me and I try to listen in to his heartbeat, which was faint.
"We don't know what's wrong. I can feel him slipping away." I hear Jill, Xander's mother say.
I walk closer to the bed Xander is sleeping in and I sit on the opposite side of his parents. Grabbing his hand, I try to look in to his mind.
In his head, Xander is replaying every memory he has of us together. It is somehow giving him comfort with this pain he is in.
"I'm going to try to heal him. I'll need the room to do that." I say and Elliot, Xander's father nods his head and rushes to his feet. They both steal one last look at their son before walking out and closing the door behind them.
I lay next to Xander, my hand on his chest, right on top of his heart.
Creating an alternate universe in his head, I pull Xander in to it and we lay eyes on each other.
He looks healthy here, as the Xander I know all too well.
"Hi..." I say.
"Where am I?" He asks.
"Did I die?" He asks again.
"Do you want to die?" I ask him, walking closer to him.
I had us in an open field that goes on for miles. The sun was high up in the sky, clear skies and birds were singing away. My mother had pulled me in to one of these, just being outside allowed for room to breath.
"If I get to see you every day then I don't mind it." He says, gently grabbing my hand in his.
"You won't if you die. I can't keep pulling you in limbo just to talk to you or be with you. It goes against everything my ancestors put in place. I need you to get better." I say.
"How? I was in so much pain that I could not move. How do I force my body to get better?" Xander asks me.
"I am here to help you do that." I say.
"What's the point Sabrina? Living or dead, I still don't get you. I have a mate that I can't love because I refuse to let you go. I mean I care for her, my wolf likes her but we both love you. I don't know why I can't get over you but I also don't care to." Xander confesses.
His words hurt.
They tore in to my heart and shredded every bit of it.
Xander had no will to live. He told me this, right when I was forced to let him go but still, his words made my heart ache.... today still.
"I know things aren't great right now but I need you to stay alive. To fight and if not for me, for your future. You can't leave this pack without a future alpha." I plead.
"Will you then give me one? Because I refuse to sleep with anyone else." Xander tells me.
I'm caught off guard by his words and I freeze. What could I possibly say to that?
I stay silent, looking in to his eyes as I heal him. Minutes pass as I rude his body of the toxins he ingested, his body frail from such a harmful substance that it worried me.
He would need time in bed to heal, a long time and if any of the alphas knew that then he would be in trouble but for now, it was important that he stays alive.
"My job is done Xander, it is now up to you to fight to stay alive and I can't say yes to what you ask because I belong to someone else." I say.
"You don't belong to anyone. We belong to you! You're the fucken moon goddess Sabrina! It is because of that aura that has us willing to serve and die for you... you are a magical being and one so unforgettable that I feel insulted when I'm expected to just simply forget you. I can't do that, not to you yours,
net
and not to myself. My heart you
from then and now.. even tomorrow! How can anyone compete? It's fitting someone should try and kill me because that's the only way I'll ever stop loving you in this life. I love you, I want you. Being with someone else feels foreign to me, it feels like I'm betraying you when I'm not but you are my goddess. As long as I'm alive, I will not give up on you or on us." He promises. Xander looks at me intensely, his eyes focused solely on mine before grabbing me by the neck and pulling me in for a kiss.
I let him, the feel of his lips on mine after so long take me back to a time where it was just him and I.
The grip he has on my neck, tightening each second as he grips my waist just the same. He pushes himself on to me, feeling his hard member pressing in to me and I pull away.
"Xander, we can't.." I say, my words coming out faintly that even I don't believe them.
"I can. I can love you right now because that's the chance I have been given and you are allowed to tell me to stop. If you want me to, I will stop. Just say the word." He says to me, pulling me in for another kiss right before shredding the clothes I have on....
I pull away..
Creating some distance from Xander so I can breath.
"Xander please, stop. I can't do this to Aiden, he does not deserve it. What I will do is take you with me to my realm and you have no say on that matter." I say to him.
I wake up, Xander's eyes still closed as I remember what could have happened in there...
I write a note, telling Xander's parents that I'll be taking him to the heavenly realm to look after him. Evan arrives in time to grab Xander and we leave his home that's so familiar to me, to go to mine.
Evan takes him to a guest room close to mine.
"Make sure there are guards in place at all times and nobody gets in or out without my approval." I say.
Walking in to the dining hall, my family was sitting by the dinner table.
"You've been gone some time. Is everything okay?" Aiden asks me as I sit down next to him.
"Xander unfortunately is not Anthony and whatever it is that he drank took a toll on him so I brought him here to keep an eye on him." I say to everyone.
"Since he was poisoned here, nobody is allowed in his room without my supervision, not even my family. I'm sorry." I say but they all nod in understanding.
I look up at Aiden, who was deep in thought.
"I hope you don't mind that I brought him here. This was the best choice for him." I say, gently grabbing Aiden's hand.
"I can't seem to keep you two apart long enough." He says to me.
What?
"You have a good heart Sabrina. I can't hold that against you and it's only right to bring him here and take care of him as he was after all poisoned in your home but should I be worried?" Aiden asks me but I'm still stuck on the first thing he said.
"What did you mean you can't keep us apart?" I ask, letting go of his hand and the table going silent.
"Sabrina, I'm a man. If I wanted to kill your precious Xander, I would've torn him to shreds with my bare hands. Poison is a cowardly choice and I am
no coward." Aiden says to me.
"My love, my mark can't seem to
even keep you two apart. I don't understand it. You should be obsessed about me, your mind should be filled with absolutely nothing but thoughts of me. You have not even marked me but am consumed by you, everything about you I notice, I think about, obsess over. Even in the same bed, you are my last thought and my first." Aiden says to me, getting on his feet and storming out.
I run after him.
He has to understand that I only asked because his choice of words were poor.
I chase him all the way to the courtyard. Aiden growls in anger.
"Aiden stop!" I say and he stops, turns to look at me.
"You are my air! I need you to breath you idiot and know that being around Xander makes you feel some
type of way but I am yours just as
you are mine and I won't let you walk away from me feeling like second best. You are my one, the one I love."
I say and Aiden walks closer to me.
"Say that again." He orders.
"I love you. I love you Aiden!" I say. I pull him by his shirt, ripping it off of him as he picks me up and I wrap my legs around him.
"You are stuck with me." I say, my hand fisting his hair as I pull him to the side and bite in to him.
Aiden moans, my teeth piercing deeper and deeper in to his flesh. His blood pooling out as I taste some of it, giving him my all. My mark as a promise
that I belong to him and he was now mine.
I pull away, licking his wound clean and healing him in the process.
"This is not over." Aiden says to me and before I know it, we are in my room where he throws me on the bed.
"Tonight I make you mine.." Aiden says to me, unbuckling his belt as I watch.
"Then take me.." I tell him. Taking my clothes of and waiting on him to take what belongs to him. I spread my legs open, myher regions on displayCcontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.
for him and he growls.
Aiden's pants fall off, he pulls me to the edge of the bed, running his finger to feel my wetness and I push in to his touch wanting more.
We lock eyes, an intense stare that has my nipples hardening..
This was it, the moment I have been waiting on him for..we were here and there was no turning back now..
