My Best Friend Left Me After 22
Greatest Rival
WARNING!
Kelly's POV
I laughed without humor because of what he said. He stared at me blankly and
I continued laughing like crazy. Welcome home? He still has the guts to say that to me after he abandoned me? What does he think of me?
"Are you serious? I won't stay in the same house with you."
"You have no choice, Kelly. You will stay here if you want to stay alive."
I looked at him with hatred. "That's all you got to say to me after you abandoned me?"
"I never abandoned you, Kelly. I've been asking you to come with me but you always refuse. You always choose that Anderson boy over your own father
"You call yourself my father? No! You are not my father. My father died a long time ago!"
He shook his head and glanced at Luke. He took a deep breath before he looked at me again. "I know you won't ever forgive me but you have to understand why I'm doing this. You are my daughter and I'm just protecting you."
I looked away. No! I don't wanna talk to him anymore. I heard him sigh before I heard the door open and closed again.
"I will bring you food-"
"I thought you were on my side, Luke," I said with anger.
When I looked at him, he was looking at me with a blank face.
I laughed without humor. "How did you end up working with him?"
He clenched his jaws. "I was an orphan. He took me in. Gave me basic needs. and my loyalty in exchange."
I shook my head. "You clearly don't know him."
"Probably. But I know something you don't. He truly cares about you."
"If he cared, he would let me go. If...you care, you'll help me get out of here."
"I can't, Miss..."
"Why?"
"Because I'm protecting you. Your life's in danger. Someone out there wants you dead. I can't take the risk."
I shook my head as I felt tears in the corner of my eyes. "I'd die of rage and sadness in this place, Luke. Please, help me..."
He looked down. "I would rather you be mad at me than see you in a coffin.

I caressed my belly because of what he said. He stared into my eyes and although his expression was blank, I feel like he's really gonna do everything to keep me safe. "After all these, I'll be the one to get you out of here."
"Luke, Chris has been caught..."
"He wasn't the one behind the incident, Miss."
"What?" My forehead creased. "Someone else wants me dead?"
"Parker means physical harm. He wanted you for himself because he's obsessed with you but he won't hurt you to the point that you almost died."
"Then who is it?"
He shook his head and looked down. "Unfortunately, Miss. I don't know."
"Is th
why you brought me here? Because you want to keep me safe? Who are you to decide for
myself, Luke? You are my driver, my bodyguard. Yes, I entrusted my life to you, but that doesn't mean you have the right to decide. what's best for me. You just brought me into the den of the person I hated the
most."

I felt a lone tear escaping my eyes. "You don't understand my hatred because you look up to him."
"He f
my grumbling stomach, sheltered me when I was cold and alone, and changed the newspapers covering me at night with new white sheets. You
won't understand that either."
I swallowed hard as I stared back into his eyes. "How long are you planning to keep me here?"
"Until I'm sure that you're safe."
"H-How about Pierce?"
"He thinks you're dead."
""You are cruel."
"I am a trained monster, Miss. I was born to be your monster."

I clenched my jaws and glared at my own father. "She's not Kelly."
He slowly nodded. "Regret always comes late. You shouldn't have wasted your time when she's still here."
I balled my trembling fists. He looked at me and in his eyes, I can see that he's blaming me for what happened. Yes! I know! I fcking know that this is my fault and I'm trying so fcking hard to get myself together because I'm losing it. My sanity is drifting away from me and I wanna die and meet her on the other side. I wanna be with her and fulfill my promise to be with her forever.
"If you can't get it together, you don't deserve to carry my name."
I looked at my trembling hands after dad left. My vision became blurry and I couldn't see my palms again. I swallowed hard and from the corner of my eyes, I saw the empty bottle of liquor I've been drinking. Without thinking twice, I broke the bottle and cut my wrist deep. Blood quickly ran down my wrist and dropped on the carpet. I kneeled on the floor and squeezed my eyes closed. Kelly's face appeared in my mind and I found myself smiling. Just wait for me, Kels. I'm coming for you.
"MOM! DAD!" I heard a female voice crying.
The next thing I know, I'm lying on my sister's lap while she's crying so hard and shouting for help. I stared at her face as she held my wrist high, panicking
and calling me,
"No, Pierce! Please, don't leave me..." she cried helplessly.
I felt tears rolling down my cheeks too. "I-It hurts, Phoebe. I love her."
She nodded. "I know! I know that. But please, don't do this. She won't be happy if you continue this. She won't be happy if you're doing this to yourself."
"I-I couldn't save her..."
Her tears fell on my cheeks. I smiled at her. "I can't stop the pain, Phoebe. I can't live without her."
She shook her head. "You have me. You have mom, dad and our grandparents. Pierce, we have to let her go now."
I shook my head continuously and squeezed my eyes closed. "I don't wanna let go. I wanna be with her..."
"NO! NO, PIERCE!" She cried hysterically. I'm losing my consciousness and all I can hear was her cries. Phoebe doesn't want to let me go. But it's just too painful. I couldn't live happily without Kelly. She's my life and I realized it too late. How ironic! I will find her on the other side and if possible, I will find her in our next life. I will never stop until I find her and make things right.
