CHAPTER 16
She has been busy all day with the work given by Mrs. Dominguez. Even though she was busy she was still waiting for Clayton to return to the office. Clayton’s secretary had lunch with her. She also introduced her to the employees they saw in the pantry as they eat.
It was already time to go home, Clayton could not return to the office. She was with Mrs. Dominguez when they went down the building. They separated ways when the woman went to the parking area while she directly go outside the exit door of the building.
She was walking to where she could get a car when suddenly a car stopped next to her. She looked over and he saw Clayton’s car. Suddenly the door opened so she looked inside the car.
“Get in. I’ll take you home,” he commanded.
Without a word and hesitation, she went inside his car. He took her to their house. She thought he would leave immediately but she was surprised when he suddenly got out of the car too.
“Aren’t you going to invite me in?” he asked when he saw the astonishment on her face.
“Okay, come in first,” she was forced to say that.
She noticed that he silently observed their home when they were already inside.
“S-sit down first, Sir,” she said to him.
“Sir? I told you to call me, Clayton. You can call me Sir if we’re in the office,” he said frowning, and then sat down on their sofa.
“Would you like a drink, Cla-Clayton?” she was hesitant to call him by his name.
He smiled.
“I want you to sit beside me,” he pointed to the space next to him.
She sat down without saying a word. He stared at her as he parted the hair on the side of her face.
“How was your first day? Are you okay in the office?” he asked with an affectionate voice.
“Mrs. Dominguez was kind and she taught me what I should do,” she replied to the man with a smile.
“Good. Did you miss me?” his face was suddenly serious.
“Huh?” she was surprised at the question.
“I missed you the whole time I was in the meeting. What kind of spell did you cast on me, Sam?” His low voice asked her then slowly brought his face closer to hers.
Is it possible that they feel the same way? It was as if her heart wanted to rejoice. She closed her eyes to accept the man’s kiss when they were startled by the sound of his phone.
She opened her eyes. He immediately turned his face away from her and looked at his phone. She saw his intriguing smile before answering the call.
“Faith!” He said briskly when he stood up.

She saw the happiness on his face while he was focused on his call. He seemed to forget that she was there with him.
“Yeah, sure. I’ll be home and I’ll call you when I get home. I’m with …” he looked at her before he continued speaking.
“I’m with my employee. Yep, I’ll go home now,” he quickly put down the phone and looked at her again.
“I’ll go home first. You don’t have to report to work tonight because I know you’re tired from your work in the office. From now on, you don’t have to go to my house every night. Don’t worry, you will still be paid weekly. I will be the one who will visit you here when I… when I need you,” the man continued.
He didn’t wait for her to answer and he went out the door as if excited to go home. Her eyes followed him until he was inside his car. He even waved at her before starting his car and leaving.
Employee? What else? The term that Clayton used to describe her was just right. She was just his employee.
Then he said, he would only go to her if he needed her.
Specifically her body…
Why can’t she still accept to herself that her only role was to make his bed warm anytime he needs her?
She felt like she was just a mistress.
No. A mistress is even better because a mistress still has a romantic connection with someone.
But she?
She was just a woman who sold her body to Clayton. It was all for convenience on both sides. No romantic connection whatsoever.
Sadly, she closed the door.
Clayton was very anxious when he answered the call of his ex-fiancee. Are they getting back together?
The pain caused by that thought gets worse.
She didn’t want to hurt herself so she decided to just enjoy the time she could still be with Clayton. She could no longer deny to herself that she had special feelings for him.
She was sure in the short time she had known him she already loves him. She didn’t expect Clayton to reciprocate her feelings. She knew she was just a low-class woman for him.
He was just being kind to her and her mother but it doesn’t mean anything aside from the fact that he was just being grateful to her for being his “cure”.
That was all he can give her.
Gratefulness and kindness.
She knows that his heart is off-limits for a woman like her, especially since someone already owned it in the first place.
She found out that Clayton was not always staying in the office because he was attending meetings most of the time outside the office. He also visited his other offices. He was really a busy man just like what Red had described to her before.
She can’t even talk to him when he is in the office.
The only thing that makes her heart happy is that no matter how busy and tired he is, he always comes back to the office to take her home.
