17. Pour The Fucking Drink
Amelia immediately stood from her seat and spoke loudly, “Lily, I won’t press this issue, don’t be scared. We’ll settle it personally.” Then she turned to the bodyguard standing before her, “please bring me my necklace and thank you for finding it.”
Lily was shocked at how easygoing she was acting. If everything dies down like this, her reputation is definitely going down. There were a few people who had already taken a picture of her face and she knew it will make it to the media, definitely. Everyone would keep talking of how she stole at Lord Bell’s birthday party.
Alexander Bell dropped his phone on the table as he was just done with the conversation he was having on phone, he asked her, “are you a theif as well?” He already guessed she was the slut who drugged him to have sex with her many years ago, was she also a theif too?
“I didn’t steal it. This is clearly a set up,” Lily said.
This time, the bodyguard had already walked up to Amelia in an attempt to hand over the necklace to her. Just when the bodyguard was about to hand over the necklace to her, a voice spoke, “hold on.”
The bodyguard turned at once to the voice that just spoke. That was Alexander Bell.
“Miss. Lily is my secretary, if your accusation turns out to be false, you and your family will pay for it.” Alexander threatened.
Truth is, a majority of the clan members didn’t even know to what extent Alexander is powerful since they can’t really place what he does for a living. They had no idea he was the chief executive officer of Yenny Designs, the biggest design company in the continent.
“I found it in her bag, sir. This is the truth,” the bodyguard insisted.
“Did you say he was checking everyone’s bag?” Alexander asked Lily.
“Yes. And that was why I allowed him to check my bag. It could be that he dropped it inside my bag when he put his hand there then removed it from there, making it look like I stole the necklace” She said.
“If this bodyguard checked your bag here, kindly raise your hands,” Alexander demanded but no one raised their hand.
“Thought you said you were checking everyone’s bag, but it seems you didn’t check anyone’s bag,” Alexander said to the bodyguard.
The bodyguard’s mouth shivered, struggling hard for how to defend himself.
“Clearly, you set her up. Coming for my secretary is the same as coming for me,” once Alexander said this, he commanded, “guards!”
The clan’s guard ran out at once and handcuffed the bodyguard, then took him away.
Everyone was shocked at the twist of event. Amelia particular became scared, she thought that the bodyguard might reveal that she was the one who sent her.
Drake Bell looked at Lily and asked, “you sent the bodyguard to do the dirty work, right?” Drake Bell wasn’t a fool, he could connect the dots.
“Huh? Why would I do such a thing. I only told the bodyguard to search for my necklace… You can investigate well…” She said this calmly but with a troubled heart.
Drake Bell looked away from her and clenched his fist as he thought about how Alexander defended Lily publicly. He was supposed to be the one defending and protecting her but another man is.
Soon, he saw Alexander Bell and Lily walking towards the second exit of the door. He immediately stood and said quietly to Lily, “I’ll be back.” He immediately followed them and began to trail after them.
Once Alexander and Lily were out of the exit door, they appeared in a long hallway and began to walk, they had no idea that Drake Bell was trailing them from behind.
“Seems you and Amelia aren’t on good terms?” Alexander asked.
“We are not, sir. I’m not surprised she tried to set me up.” Lily said, praying he doesn’t ask why they were not on good terms. As if her prayers got answered, Alexander Bell didn’t press the issue again.
When they were almost out of the hallway, Alexander Bell suddenly paused and turned to her, “will you stop pretending you don’t know me?”
“Sir?”
“Six years ago, at the club…” He paused.
“At the club?” She asked ignorantly. She had no idea what he meant.
Alexander examined her face and saw that she seemed to have no idea. Could she be pretending? He thought to himself. He hummed and turned from her, “forget about it ”
They soon exit the hallway and got inside the elevator that leads to the downfloor. Drake Bell, who had been trailing after them heard what Alexander said. “At the club?” He repeated to himself. Did Lily and Alexander had a thing together at a club many years ago?
He immediately called Liam and told him to investigate after which he returned to his seat.
The following day was a Saturday, when it was noon, Lily went over to Drake Bell’s study and on appearing, she tendered the contract she signed a few weeks ago and said, ‘the contract I signed had said that as soon as my work in Bell’s LTD is over, I can stop living here.”
She quickly reminded him, “remember you said that you were not going to go back on your words. Now act like a man and let me go.”
“I can’t,” Drake Bell said, “I’m sorry.”
He added after a few seconds, “Lily, did you know how much it hurts to see you with another man?”
“What are you talking about? What man?” Lily expressed a dissatisfied look.
“My uncle of course. Lily, I already told you, as long as I’m alive, forget about getting married to him,” Drake Bell said.
A few weeks ago, Lily had forged a wedding invitation that made it look like herself and Alexander had fixed a date for their wedding but the truth was, after that day that she proposed to Alexander Bell, she has not seen him.
Lily scoffed, “you were with your childhood sweetheart, Amelia many nights eventhough we were married. I would text you repeatedly, begging you to come home, telling you how much I miss you but you just ignore like I mean nothing to you.”
“Anyways, there is nothing between Alexander Bell and I. He’s my boss and I’m his secretary. Please let me leave this godforsaken house!” She almost screamed in frustration.
“No Lily…” Drake Bell stood.Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
“Just stop there. Don’t even move closer to me,” Lily was already adjusting back. Drake Bell paused and said, “well, you are stuck with me forever, Lily. I hate to keep you here forcefully against your will but I don’t really have a choice. I made a mistake of letting you out of my life years ago and it hurts till today, I can’t let that happen again.”
“I guess I know what to do.” Lily said thoughtfully.
“Lily, I rule New York. For the sake of our children, just keep living here.”
“Did you also think Alexander can not get me out of here?” Lily suddenly smirked.
“He won’t. You are just his secretary,” Drake Bell said, though not sure if their relationship was simply platonic. He didn’t entirely believe what Lily said regarding her relationship with Alexander. He felt like there could be more to Alexander and Lily’s relationship.
“Why don’t you watch and see,” Lily smirked and walked away.
On a Monday morning, Lily had already done her morning duties in the office but surprisingly, Alexander Bell hadn’t arrived at his office eventhough it was a few minutes after 10AM. Alexander was a type that was always punctual and in her short days of working here, she had not seen him ever come late before.
She wondered if he probably had something else to attend to.
All of a sudden, the door to her office opened, it was Alexander Bell. He had sweats on his forehead and he looked messed. He answered her greetings casually and walked in.
Lily thought about waiting for a few hours before going to see him but just a few seconds after he entered his office, he called on to her.
Lily stood at once and soon appeared before him, “please pour that drink for me.” He pointed to where the transparent fridge was in his office. Lily picked the particular drink he picked and poured it in a cup. It was an alcoholic drink.
Sge soon got before him and handed over the cup of alcohol to him. He drank it all at once and shut his eyes. He took an handkerchief and cleaned his sweaty face with it then said to her, “pour more.”
Lily poured more and he drank, it went on and on until Lily felt like he was getting drunk.
“Mr. Alexander, I think this is enough.”
“Fucking pour the drink!” He commanded angrily.
Lily shook in fear, as a result, the bottle of alcohol in her hand fell to the floor.
