Bittersweet Obsession

Chapter 26: Suspicion

Judson watched Tamara made her exit with a suspicious look in his eyes. His lips pressed into a thin line, betraying his lack of trust in her. As she vanished from sight, he couldn't escape the doubt that there was more to her story than she had revealed. His mind was filled with unresolved questions, giving him a nagging sensation of dread as he reflected on what had happened.

Shortly after she left, Frank entered his study. "Sir, I just saw Ms. Sinclair leaving the study. Is everything alright?" he asked with concern as he noted Judson's somber expression.

Ignoring the question, Judson leaned forward in his chair, his expression grave as he awaited Frank's report. "Frank, what's the latest on the investigation?"

Frank straightened his posture, sensing Judson's urgency. "We're still piecing together the details, but it seems like Ms. Sinclair was targeted by an unknown assailant. We're reviewing security footage to gather more information. It's too early to draw any conclusions, but we'll keep you updated as soon as we have more details."

"I understand, Frank. Keep me informed of any developments. And make it a priority to obtain any security footage we can. We need to get the bottom of it, even if it means digging deeper. And find out if there were any witnesses to the incident," he instructed, his tone firm and resolute.

Judson frowned, his expression darkening with frustration. "It seems like we're hitting roadblocks at every turn. Without security footage or witnesses, it's going to be difficult to piece together what happened. Keep pressing on it, Frank. We need answers, no matter how elusive they may be."

"I'll do everything in my power to get to the bottom of this, sir. We won't rest until we have answers."

"There's something off about Henry's accident," he mused aloud suspiciously. "I can't shake the feeling that there's more to it than what it seems. Just dig deeper into that as well. I want to know everything there is to know about that incident. Let's not overlook any possibilities."

"I've been looking into it, sir, and there are definitely some inconsistencies in the accident report. It's possible that it wasn't just a simple accident," he admitted. "I'll continue to investigate and see what else I can uncover." With a determined nod, he turned to leave.

As Frank made his exit, leaving Judson to ponder the recent events that had brought him to this point, a sense of unease settled over him like a heavy shroud. He couldn't shake the nagging feeling that there was more to Tamara's situation than what it seemed.

Lost in thought, he was getting ahead of himself. If someone was indeed trying to harm Tamara, could it mean that it was the same person responsible for his son's untimely death? The possibility loomed large in his mind, casting a dark shadow over his thoughts.Content rights by NôvelDr//ama.Org.

With a heavy sigh, he leaned back in his chair, his brow furrowed in deep contemplation. There were still too many unanswered questions, too many loose ends that needed to be tied up. But one thing was certain: he wouldn't rest until he unraveled the truth, no matter where it led him.

After getting off the bus, she rushed back to her apartment. Her footsteps quickened as worry chewed at her insides. Her mind was filled by thoughts of her mother, fuelling her need to get home right away.

She couldn't shake the nagging feeling that Brianna, her irresponsible sister, wouldn't lift a finger to help take care of their mother, adding to her concern. It was up to Tamara to ensure her mother's condition, no matter the cost.

As Tamara finally arrived at her apartment, a sinking feeling settled in the pit of her stomach. She hurried inside, her heart pounding with dread as she rushed to her mother's bedroom.

The sight that greeted her was devastating. Her mother lay unconscious on the bed, surrounded by a mess of crumpled tissues stained with blood.

Her breath caught in her throat as she took in the scene before her, a wave of fear washing over her.

With trembling hands, she hurriedly reached out to her mother, checking for signs of life. Panic threatened to swallow her as she understood how serious the situation was, and she knew she had to act quickly to save her mother's life. "Mom? Mom, can you hear me? Please wake up." Her voice quivered as she called out to her mother gently. She hovered over her mother's unconscious body, her heart heavy with worry.

For Tamara, seeing her mother in such a state was the most devastating thing she could ever imagine. The sight of her unconscious and surrounded by a mess condition shattered her heart into a million pieces. It was her worst nightmare come to life, a fear she had always dreaded but hoped would never become a reality.

As she stood by her mother's bedside, the weight of the situation bore down on her like a heavy burden. The fear of losing her mother and being alone in the world without her threatened to overwhelm her. Despite the circumstances, Tamara was driven by an immense resolve. She refused to give in to despair, knowing she needed to fight for her mother's life with all of her power.

As sudden realization flashed through her mind. She remembered Aunt Celia, who lived next door. With a surge of hope, Tamara realized that the old lady might be able to help.

Without a moment's hesitation, she rushed outside and hurried to the next door. She knew that Aunt Celia might be their last resort in this dire situation.

Breathless and on the verge of tears, her knuckles rapped urgently against the door. With each passing second, her heart pounded louder in her ears until finally, the door creaked open to reveal Aunt Celia's concerned face. "Sweetheart, what's wrong? You look so awful."

Tamara's words rushed out in a frantic torrent, her voice trembling with emotion. "Aunt Celia, it's Mom. She's... she's unconscious and bleeding. I don't know what to do!"

The old lady's eyes widened in alarm as she took in Tamara's distressed appearance. Without hesitation, she stepped out of the doorway and motioned for Tamara to join her. "Come along, sweetheart. Let's see what's going on. We'll figure this out together."
