A close watch

Alex is a great friend. That’s all I can say.
Watching both girls interact on my screen set me at ease. I’d watched my little flower well enough to know that she was a loner. She had no friends and barely did anything for fun.
Her daily routine was quite easy to memorise. She’d wake up just in time to get ready for work. Sometimes, she’d walked to work, if she left home early enough. Other times, she’d holler for a cab. By seven, she’s checking in to work, only to leave at three, sometimes four.
I would know the exact time because I’d been watching her closely, right before I even decided to show myself to her. I’d follow her to make sure she got home safely and wouldn’t leave until she was tucked in.
My little flower would flip the earth over if she knew just how close I’ve been watching her. There’s a camera in every corner of her house. I had her phone chipped, not with any kind of device. I was able to hear her conversations, so long as she had her phone on her. And at the club, it was impossible to install any cameras there without fucking Anthony getting in my way. So, I hacked into the camera. Anything to keep a close watch on my little flower.
Now that I laid eyes on her, I knew she was in danger. My line of work is dangerous and I’d hate for anyone to harm her. I was born on this Godforsaken earth to hurt and heal her.
My little flower was yet to know my name. She was yet to see my entire face, and for now, I wanted it to stay like that, not until I’d claimed and marked her a mine. So, once she sees my face and all the scars that remind me of my childhood and my line of work, she won’t run.
Fuck that! It doesn’t matter where she runs to. She’s mine, and I would chase her to the ends of the earth.
I leaned back on the recliner seat and zoomed in on the Camera to my little flower. I carefully studied her facial features.
It didn’t take a genius to know she was happier. Well, the smile on her face as she laughed at what Alex said made it obvious, but after following Zinnia, I’ve come to learn that it didn’t matter if she smiled, her eyes are always empty.
I could see her genuine self. The one she’s tucked away for whatever reason. Little by little, I will uncover whatever secrets she holds, and erase them, so I am the only thing that runs through her mind at every second of the day.
My cock throbbed in my jeans as my little flower stuck out her tongue and licked her bottom lip. I wanted nothing more than to spill my seed on those plump lips of hers and watch her lick it off with her tongue.
“Fuck!” I groaned and raised my butt just enough to unzip and lower my trousers. Just then, the door to my office opened and Hermine walked in.
“Oh fuck it, Reed! At least make sure the door is locked!” Hermine’s voice resonated through my ears. I hurriedly pulled up my pants, ignoring how my cock hurt to be back in without a release.
“How about you start knocking for a start?” I fired back, minimising the video of my little flower.
“Of course, stalking Your little flower,” Hermine’s emphasis on my pet name for Zinnia made me roll my eyes. I sighed out in exasperation
“Is it titillation?” Hermine asks, walking further into the office as though she hadn’t just caught me about to jerk off.
“What do you want, Hermine?”
She gave me her signature creepy smile, then spoke up. “Someone who works for Mad Hunt reached out. He wants us to take out someone for him,”
Mad Hunt was the leader of a powerful arms and drug cartel, known for his connection with people in high places. The police have never been able to hold a single evidence of his connection to drugs and arms.
“Are you sure? Why would he need us? He has someone who gets rid of his ‘issues’ yeah?”
“Yeah. Apparently, his people have tried and failed. It’s one of his men who reached out. He doesn’t want his boss to know about it. But he also cannot afford to fail. Mad would have his head for dinner,” Hermine explained and I hummed.
I rose to my feet and paced around my office, pondering on our potential task. I had a bad intuition about this. Something didn’t make sense.
“Who are we talking about?” I asked.
“Roman Slovov.”
“Drop it,” I uttered.
“But..”
“I don’t have a good feeling about this. If Mad Hunt needed my services, he would contact me, and even then, I would decline”
“It is not Mad Hunt who needs your services, but one of his men,”
Hermine defended, still, my mind was made up.
Roman Slovov is Mad Hunt’s biggest nemesis in the world of arms trafficking. As a Bounty Hunter, I make a lot of enemies. Some came naturally with the job, but that doesn’t mean I would willingly get caught in a mafia fight. I had other things to tend to, like getting rid of predators and keeping a very close watch on my little flower. Which reminds me…
I went to look at my watch but Hermine spoke up again. “He’s paying ten million.” She convinced as though that was supposed to make me change my mind.
“With fifty million, I still wouldn’t do it. What happens after I get rid of Roman and the Russians come after me for taking out one of their own? I can protect myself, but that doesn’t mean I want to spend the rest of my life protecting myself from angry Russians. Drop the case, Hermine.”
Normally, I wouldn’t explain my decisions to my subordinates. I expected them to listen and take action, but for some reason, I felt the need to elaborate. Hermine nodded and left my office.
I plunged back into the recliner and opened the video of my little flower.
She was no more. I checked my watch. Pass eight.
Time to pay her a visit at the club.
