Chapter 1 Substitution

The Herbart family was a giant in Cloud City.

In a spacious and luxurious bedroom, a tall and noble man suddenly grabbed the bride in a wedding dress and furiously said, "You're not Nicole. The Kent family is bold. They cheated me! They are courting death!"

The bride was wearing a white mask covering most of her face, revealing only her star-like shining eyes.

When the man condescendingly looked at Blanche, she suddenly found her mask almost falling off. And her heart skipped a beat before she adjusted it.

Then, the man opened the door with a bang and strode out.

Looking at the bride thrown to the ground, the servant who had witnessed everything was stunned. She hurriedly walked over and said, "Mrs. Herbart, are you okay? Let me help you up."

"Thanks."

After getting up, Blanche rubbed her bruised neck and glanced at the door. Then, a hint of confusion flashed across her red eyes.

"Is that man Louis?"

The servant fixed the wedding dress and replied, "Yes, he is Mr. Herbart, your husband."

Louis was rumored to be a cripple, so Nicole had cried, said she would never marry a disabled man, and asked her to marry him in place of her. But he turned out to be tall and long-legged. He had

steadily stridden out, so there was nothing wrong with his legs.

Blanche smiled. Louis was not a cripple as rumored. Instead, he was handsome and had a supermodel figure. If her elder sister Nicole knew about it, she would deeply regret it.

Blanche lifted her wedding dress, walked to the brightly colored wedding bed, and sat down, asking, "Is it time for dinner?" This content © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

She had not had food since this morning, so she was hungry.

The servant was confused. Mr. Herbart had almost strangled Mrs. Herbart to death. the latter had been teary just now but regained her calmness in a blink of an eye. It was weird.

Noticing Blanche looking at her, the servant quickly stopped thinking nonsense, lowered her head, and stammered, "Mrs. Herbart, everyone but you have had dinner."

Blanche was stunned, wondering why they had not asked her to have dinner. It must be because the Herbart family did not welcome her. It was rumored that Tammy had always been strict. She had not asked her to have dinner because she wanted to psych her daughter-in-law out on the first day of the marriage.

"Please get some food for me."

Hearing this, the servant showed an embarrassed look.

"If they make things difficult for you, you will tell them I haven't eaten for three days and will starve to death in the Herbart family soon. Remember to tell them I have fainted once from hunger."

"Will this work?"

Blanche winked at the timid servant and said, "Go ahead! Trust me."

Louis sat on the slippery leather sofa downstairs and kept squeezing the glass in his hand.

His assistant came over with some documents and said, "Mr. Herbart, I've investigated the matter. Your bride is not Nicole Kent, the number one beauty in Cloud City. She is Nicole’s notorious and disfigured sister Blanche. The Kent family deceived you."

Louis frowned and released his grip, letting the glass fall to the ground.

The assistant then showed him the photos of Nicole and Blanche.

The two photos were in stark contrast. Nicole had exquisite facial features and fair skin, while Blanche had a hideous scar on her right cheek. The scar was eye-catching like an ugly centipede.

Louis sneered, "Very good! The Kent family is bold! How dare they play such a trick on me? Are they courting death?"

Louis’s mother Tammy was sitting beside him in gorgeous clothes. She picked up these two photos and felt increasingly depressed while looking at them.

"The Kent family thinks my son is disabled, so they married an ugly girl into the Herbart family."

Louis had had a car accident five years ago, so the outside world had rumored his legs were disabled. Tammy had wanted to scotch the rumor, but Louis had stopped her.

Cathy was sitting next to Tammy and felt relieved when hearing the news. She believed she would become Mrs. Herbart sooner or later. After all, Louis would not be interested in other women.

"Aunt Tammy, please calm down. Let me massage your shoulders."

The marriage between the Herbart family and the Kent family was not with great fanfare but in private. The Herbart family wanted a noblewoman who could match their status. After several layers

of screening, they had chosen Nicole.

The wedding was simple. The Herbart family had only sent a car to the Kent family to pick the bride up. After all, the Kent family was much inferior in terms of status. And no one had expected the Kent family would change the bride.

Louis had met Nicole before. So, when he had come back from the company and saw Blanche in a mask, he found the bride was not Nicole.
