Chapter 24 I'm Beautiful
Blanche's heart skipped a beat when she heard they were going to find Louis.
Her eyelids twitched. Hanging on the last shred of consciousness, she itched to flee as soon as possible.
However, her head felt heavy, and her knees felt weak.
"Blanche, hold on. We have to leave now," Erin whispered. All rights © NôvelDrama.Org.
But it was too late. The bodyguards stepped forward to block their way.
"You can't leave."
The flippant man kicked the drunk man sprawled on the couch.
"Get up and call Louis over. His ugly wife made us sick, and we're going to settle the score with him."
"Okay." The latter stumbled to his feet and staggered out.
Louis was in private room No. 1.
After Blanche left, they stopped playing poker and went to the lounge inside.
Louis sat on a white sofa, two buttons at the top of his shirt undone. With his elbows perched on the armrests, he stared at his bandaged arm and furrowed his brow.
Daniel stole a glance at the gauze, feeling embarrassed for his friend. This guy had been the toughest since they were little, but he was bitten by a woman today. It was both frustrating and
funny.
"Boss, what is wrong with your wife? What's she like at home? Does she bite people too?" Daniel asked curiously.
Louis looked askance at him.
Embarrassed, Daniel touched his nose.
The movement was heard coming from outside. It was a waiter bringing in a swaying man.
"Mr. Herbart, this man insists on seeing you. He says it's something urgent."
Louis stared at the red-faced man.
"Speak."
The man wavered and pointed at him.
"Louis, your ugly wife made us sick in our private room. You have to come over and compensate us for the mental damage."
Daniel and Nicky were shocked. What did they hear? This drunk man called their boss by his name.
And he called Louis' wife ugly. He was so dead.
"Lou..." Getting no response, the drunk man tilted his body and planned to continue when Louis fell him with a kick.
The pain sobered him up, and he realized he was facing a ruthless opponent. He prostrated himself on the floor and begged for mercy.
"Mr. Herbart, please spare my life."
Louis towered over him, his foot crushing down on the back of the man's hand.
"Which point did you use to point at me?"
"It hurts. Please have mercy."
Louis ground his foot down harder, crushing the man's hand again and again.
"Your room number," he demanded.
"What? Ah, room #3."
With a final kick, Louis sent the man flying two meters away. The man howled in pain as he clutched his bloody hand.
Daniel and Nicky stood silently on the side, watching their boss flip out.
A flash of fierceness crossed Louis' face. What had Blanche done?
He strode out of the room, his two subordinates following close behind.
They found that private room.
Louis booted open the door, and it crashed on the floor.
"Ah!"
Erin pulled Blanche out of the way, and they narrowly escaped being crushed.
Louis narrowed his eyes and stepped over the fallen door panel.
There was a mix of vomit and alcohol inside. It made him sick and caused him to further furrow his brow. He looked around, and those people, who had been so arrogant and domineering earlier, were now crestfallen.
"Who wants to see me?" he asked, standing tall like a proud emperor.
His gaze swept over the room and finally settled on two women huddled in a corner. One of them was Blanche.
Blanche felt dizzy and narrowed her eyes. Under his penetrating gaze, she shrank back and felt as though he wanted to cut her into pieces.
"Mr. Herbart," stammered one of the drunken men, suddenly sobering up in fear. He realized what a foolish thing he had done. Who was Louis? The overlord of Cloud City is not someone they could mess with.
But then he caught sight of Blanche, and the thought of her ugly face made him throw up again. His stomach churning, he couldn't help but grumble.
"Mr. Herbart, your wife is so ugly. You must be very broad-minded to put up with her. We only took one look at her before we threw up our bile. How do you stand living with her every day?"
"Yeah. I have to give you that," echoed another man.
Louis' brow furrowed at their words.
Drunk too, Blanche pointed at the speaker with a trembling finger.
"I'm not ugly! You are! I'm the prettiest in the world," she slurred.
"Pfft..."
There was a round of snorts.
Daniel and Nicky also looked at Blanche in surprise. Her face was covered by a mask, hiding her true appearance.
They glanced at the mess in the room, realizing that these people had thrown up after seeing Blanche's face.
Louis' brows were knitted together.
He couldn't believe these men had actually vomited at the sight of Blanche's face.
Was a hideous face really hidden behind the mask?
Blanche, drunk and uncaring, suddenly broke free from Erin's grip. She threw herself at Louis and clung to his arm.
"Honey, they're lying to you. I'm beautiful. Hold me! I can't stand still."
