Crossing Paths With The White Wolf

Chapter 12

Helios POV

"Ramon. Ramon, calm down." Theo said pointedly at my side. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath before I dropped him. He hit the floor with a thud and I turned back towards the room. Several staff members were coming towards us and the other handlers had frozen on their spot. The white wolf was panting from the jolt but was looking at me funny. Almost...curious. The accountant came through the door with some goons and approached me. "Is everything OK Mr De la Luz?" He asked, noting the flushed handler on the ground.

"I paid a lofty sum for a healthy wolf and this i***t saw a need to stun it when it simply growled," I seethed.

"Our apologies. I'll make sure he is properly disciplined," he said and snapped his fingers. The two security guards with him moved around him and grabbed the handler and took him away. We continued loading her but she suddenly lost her s**t as she looked over at the cat we hadn't bought. It was being wheeled into a white van.

"Move back before you get hurt. Don't even think about using that stun gun," I warned the other a*****e that had picked up the stun gun. I made my way over to her slowly as she once again snarled at me, baring her teeth at me.

"I'll get your shifter friend too. Calm down. I've got a tracker on her," I whispered to her, knowing her werewolf ears would pick it up even from a few feet away. She slowly stopped pacing and growling. I saw her captivating amber eyes glaze over as she kept growling lowly. She whimpered slightly and then laid down and put her head on her paws. I motioned for my warriors to push her the remaining of the way into the moving truck, knowing they wouldn't do anything unless ordered. These were human warriors, so they wouldn't know this was a werewolf. Once they were done loading her and strapping her in, Sebastian left with her. He was taking her to my place. The moving truck would fit on the left side of my garage, having arranged my cars on the right before hand. "Make sure you record whatever is heard through the comms. The others can remove theirs. They don't need to listen in," I told him before he left. He nodded and once they were gone, Theo and I went back out the front to get the lambo.

"Let's go home. It's going to be a long night. Let's stop and grab burgers on the way home. I'll call Mikey's and we can just do a quick pick up." I said, grabbing my phone and dialing. We arrived at my place and I saw the open garage door. Sebastian and Gonzalo were waiting for us.

"Did she say anything?" I asked them.

"Hard to talk as a wolf," Sebastian reminded me.

"Why hasn't she shifted?" I asked.

"I'm not sure," Gonzalo answered. I walked over to the back of the moving truck. Both the cats and the wolf were still shifted.

"Did you ask them to shift?" I asked and they nodded.

"Why won't you shift? We know you're all shifters. We won't hurt you," I reassured them.

I saw the wolf look at me like I was insane and then she rolled her eyes at me. She went over to the hay that was at the back end of the cage. We all watched curiously as she seemed to make a small mountain of hay. Her bones began to break and rearrange and then she was out of our sight. "We need clothes geniuses. We are all females. You are all males." Came the most beautiful mocking voice. Her accent was Caribbean, which was slightly surprising since she was supposed to have come from South Korea. I heard one of the other two cats start laughing at us and then the other joined it a few seconds later as the she-wolf shifted back to her wolf, a derisive look on her face as she trotted back to us.

"s**t, why didn't we think of that," Theo said. He was right, we had only prepared to save her. We had not thought past that.

"Go get some Ts and sweatpants from my room. Theo, can you close the garage door so we don't have neighbors calling the cops when they see wild animals in my driveway," I told Gonzalo and he dashed off into the house. I went into the moving truck and opened the cat cages. "Why don't you walk inside? I'll guide you all to the spare room so you can shift and change," I said gently. Finally, I went to the she-wolf's cage and opened it. She c****d her head to the side and then looked back at the cats and nodded at them. They exited their cages and walked towards us slowly. I noticed the cats basically stuck to her haunches as they walked out of the moving truck. They must be young.

I grabbed the clothes from Gonzalo and I led them to one of the spare bedrooms on the first floor. I put the clothes on the bed as they came in. "We'll be in the living room when you're ready. We can talk about how we will get your friend back," I said, and closed the door behind them.

"Are the trackers still working?" I asked Sebastian who was already on the computer, clacking away.

"Yes, they were both headed in the same direction. They are still moving." He reported. "Anything on the comms?" I said.

He nodded. "We're still getting audio, which may I say, Evergreen wasn't kidding when he said they had a range of 200miles. Our old ones always cut off when we get 3 miles too far. Not sure how he managed that but we're still getting clear audio. It's all recording to the Icloud. We can listen to it whenever you're ready."

"What are you? You don't smell human, but you're not shifters either," Her soft beautiful voice wrapped around me from behind. I turned to see the most beautiful woman coming towards us. She had flawless, darker than chocolate skin, her short, tightly coiled pink curls framing her big almond amber eyes and luscious heart-shaped lips. I followed her silhouette from her long slender neck to down to her toes. My clothes were a little tight at her inviting hips but seeing her wearing my shirt did something to my heart. I snapped out of it when I noticed the two small girls behind her, one of whom was holding on to her shirt tightly.

I shook my head for a moment and my eyes went back to her face, which had one eyebrow up. s**t. I was not used to having this reaction to a woman and, clearly, had been caught staring. I tried and failed to stop the heat that filled my face. I cleared my throat, "No, we are neither. We have food for everyone. Then we can talk."

The boys got up and grabbed plates, cups and cutlery.

"I am not sure what you guys like, so just help yourselves," I said as we sat at the long kitchen table. I rarely used this one, preferring instead to eat outside on the patio, but that little table was not suitable for 7 people, plus I wasn't sure if they would try to run the first chance they got.

She turned to one of the girls who was still hanging onto her and spoke Korean to her "He's got food. Let's get some food in us and talk to them. We'll find Eun-Kyung after. Even if we have to run, OK? Don't worry."

I smiled at the girl as she moved around from behind her, trying not to look intimidating and told her in Korean, "I promise, we just want to help. We won't hurt anyone. We just want to help you and your friend get home. My name is Helios." I extended my hand out to her. She and the she-wolf looked surprised that we understood. The little girl looked up to the she-wolf, who nodded encouragingly, before extending her hand to shake mine. She sat down and grabbed some food. "So...Helios. My name is Natalia, this is Si-Woo and Dan-Bi. Dan-Bi understands some English but Si-Woo does not. Care to introduce your friends?" Natalia said as she chewed her chicken burger.

"This is Gonzalo, Theo, and Sebastian. They will understand you in either language," I nodded over to the guys who each nodded at her as they were introduced. "It's very nice to meet you Natalia," I didn't need to add the last part, but I wanted to sound out her name out loud. Liking how it felt to say it.

"So how did you know what we were if you're not shifters?" She asked and I pondered how to best answer her question without telling her the whole sordid story.
