Chap 22
INDIFFERENT OR FOOL
All along the way Alex was silent. He focused forward and never looked at Jessica.
His patience was really being tested. During these three days he held back and patiently waited for the wedding day. However, when the night after the wedding was in sight, it coincided with the first day of Jessica’s period. That meant Lexi must be patient until Jessica her period’s over.
Lexi’s indifferent made Jessica wonder since she went to the supermarket until now. Almost to the basement of the apartment, there wasn’t a word that came out of Lexi’s lips.
Jessica looked at her husband every now then she played thumb in confusion. Could it be that Lexi was so angry that her car seat was stained?
Although hesitant, Jessica decided to ask later when their arrival at the apartment.
Lexi got out of the car. He didn’t want to talk to Jessica. The girl followed in Lexi’s footsteps, got out of the car and ran small following the husband’s wide and fast footsteps.
“Wait for me!” Jessica said.
Lexi pretended not to hear. He kept his feet on the elevator door.
In the elevator, Lexi was silent. He looked down and kept his eyes open. He didn’t want to talk to Jessica. Never mind touching her scent alone can arouse lust. Jessica was on her period.
Elevator doors opened.
That elevator in the building delivered a couple of newlyweds to the highest floor of the building. Lexi’s place of residence was on the fourteenth floor.
“Good evening, Sir!” Arsene said. He put on his sweetest smile. Lexi and Jessica arrived at the apartment.
He saw some of the bridal makeup with maids. However, it seemed all in vain.
“The employee from the decoration party has just gone back, Sir. I want to go home too,” Arsene was getting ready to go home. “Happy new life to Mr. Lexi and Miss Jessica, the bridal suite is ready,” he said looking at the newlyweds standing before him.
Lexi returned his secretary’s gaze. “Don’t go home yet. We have a lot to talk about!” Lexi stopped. He moved to the balcony and left Jessica alone.
Arsene was shocked, he didn’t know why Lexi was holding back to leave. He thought it was wrong if Lexi would immediately take Jessica to the room. Instead, The Boss invited him to talk.
“OK, Sir,”Arsene looked at Jessica questioningly, but the woman just shook her head. Then, Arsene turned to follow Lexi who was already on the balcony.
Arsene looked at Lexi’s face. He looked flat and had no intention of saying anything. “Sorry Mr. Lexi, is there something wrong? Is there anything I can do for you?” Arsene asked to start the conversation.
Lexi was still silent. He remembered Arsene’s words about that he must be authoritative and charismatic. It made him try to maintain self-esteem in front of his secretary.
However, upon second thought Lexi couldn’t help himself. He couldn’t hide his disappointment. Arsene was the closest person and knew the secret during this time.
“How many days do women usually have menstruation?” Lexi asked, closing his eyes. Then, he threw his gaze the other way, avoiding Arsene’s gaze. He was embarrassed, but he didn’t have a sister to ask. He didn’t even ask Jessica. His heart was already too upset.
Arsene cleared his throat, holding back a laugh. “What is it, Sir?” Arsene asked, it sounded like an investigation. When Lexi felt awkward like that, Arsene seemed to enjoy it. He made sure that only Lexi asked such ridiculous things.
“Just answer!” Lexi said strictly. Arsene would have laughed it off if he knew Jessica was having her period.
“My wife usually comes monthly for 5 days or 7 days. The longest he’s ever had his period for 10 days,” Arsene replied honestly.
“Does that apply to every woman?” Lexi was still curious. If only for five days, he could still hold it. Seven days was still reasonable, but not within ten days. Lexi closed her eyes again. This really tested his patience, god level.
“I don’t know, sir, but it seems that one woman’s menstrual cycle is different from another woman’s. Some are routine every month, some are once every 3 months or 2 months. Not the same, that’s what I know,” Arsene answered. From the way Lexi exhaled, Arsene understood that the boss was upset.
“How was Jessica’s menstrual cycle?” Lexi scratched the back of her head that didn’t itch. It would be a shame for him if he had to ask Jessica about it.
“Why don’t you ask by yourself, Sir? Isn’t Miss Jessica now your wife?” Arsene linked his eyebrows. He tried to guess Lexi’s mind.
“No! I don’t want to talk to her. I don’t want to get close to her” Lexi said strictly.
“What is it, Sir?” Arsene insisted.
“Jessica is on her period, I can’t get close to her!” he said slowly.
“It seems that you have to be patient again, Sir,” Arsene tried not to laugh. He took a deep breath to hold back the laughter many times.
“Yes,” he said in a barely audible voice.
Silent…
“Do you still have something to talk about, Sir? I have to go home now because my wife is waiting. It’s Sunday and I should be off work,” Arsene explained.
“Yeah, you better go home,” Lexi had no reason to keep Arsene in the apartment.
Arsene turned around and immediately went home.
Lexi decided to contact Dr. Sham to ask this. However, before the man on the other side of the phone received the call, Lexi abandoned his plan. He didn’t want to look like a fool.

Jessica sat down. She didn’t do anything. She was waiting until Lexi came to her room.
Jessica grabbed the phone and opened a message from Chelsea to reduce her nervousness.
[ How, have you tried it? Where’s the picture? Anyway, when we meet, you should tell me about the night after wedding with Mr. Lexi! ]
Jessica read a message from Chelsea. She had no intention of replying. The night after the wedding? No, Jessica was horrified at the thought of it. She was thinking of Lexi, he took her honor, it used to make her shudder.
Just as Jessica wanted to hang up her phone, Chelsea sent a message again.
Chelsea: [Beryl just asked about you? What am I supposed to say? ]
Jessica looked at the phone screen. The name Beryl, since childhood already had its own place in her heart. She once loved her friend. It was just that, after they grew up Jessica began to limit her relationship with Beryl. However, she never intended to end it.
Suddenly the door opened. Lexi was already standing and staring intently at him.
Jessica’s fingers moved swiftly, closing the screen of her phone. She slowly turned her attention back to Lexi.
“Get out of there,” Lexi broke into her room. The decoration of the bridal chamber looked invisible. Only Jessica became the only one who shone the most there.
Jessica got out of bed. She moved away, sitting on the couch.
Lexi stopped in front of the closet set, then opened it. For a moment, he glanced at lingerie that he had prepared for Jessica. His anger had lessened which had dominated his heart before.
The two eyes of Jessica secretly stole a glance at Lexi who was changing clothes. She looked at her husband’s back. Now she could watch it. About Lexi, he is handsome and not easy to ignore.
“Did you look at me?” Lexi asked.
“No,” Jessica said quickly.
Lexi looked at the wife, and moved his gaze the other way. “Shit!” He was still upset about having to postpone the night after the wedding.
“Sir, the maids are returning to the main house, do you want to eat something? I’ll take it,” Jessica offered kindly.
Lexi nodded his head slowly. Then, he walked out of the room, without looking at Jessica. He wanted to go to the kitchen and enjoy warm milk to ease his bad mood.
Jessica was feeling guilty. She reflexively followed Lexi. She followed Lexi to the kitchen.Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
“Sir, would you like some milk?” Jessica offered. She didn’t give up, she should at least apologize right now or tomorrow Lexi would ignore her all day.
Lexi looked at his wife. His right hand signaled for Jessica not to get too close to him.
Jessica was sitting in a chair not far from the dinner table. Her two eyes continued to observe Lexi.
Lexi made a glass of milk. He took an apple in the fridge and wanted to peel it.
“Sir, let me peel it for you,” Jessica said. She was trying to get an apology from Lexi.
Lexi’s lips were still closed. He focused on peeling apple and didn’t think Jessica was around him.
Jessica held out her hand, she didn’t give up until Lexi talked to him and apologized.
“Auuww!” Lexi shouted. Accidentally, his finger was hit by a knife.
“Why, Sir?” Jessica got up from her seat and approached Lexi. Seeing the blood on her husband’s finger, she reflexively blew it. “Let me treat!” she said.
Lexi opened his eyes, looking at Jessica’s lips and her worried expression made him tempted.
Jessica led Lexi to sit on the living room sofa. “Don’t go anywhere,” Jessica said. Then, she took the medicine box.
A minute later, Jessica was back in Lexi, to treat his wound.
Lexi’s sense of sight was fixed on Jessica. She cleansed and closed the wound carefully.
“Yes,” Jessica said cheerfully. She looked up and found that Lexi was staring at her.
This moment made him feel awkward. “Move away!” he shouted. He looked at Jessica while he was standing up. Lexi moved away.
“Wait!” Jessica begged.
Lexi glanced at her then he walked towards his room.
“Wait, Lexi! I’m sorry, tomorrow I will clean and change your dirty car seat! Don’t be silent! I don’t like it!” Jessica said.
“You fool!” With the index finger of his right hand, Lexi pushed Jessica’s forehead. He made her to stay away from him for a while.
Jessica nodded. She was looking at Lexi’s back. She was not expecting just because the car seat was accidentally stained Lexi chose to stay away and ignore her.
“Ok, I won’t feel guilty anymore. Well, I even like it when you stay away from me like this,” Jessica muttered, she convinced herself. Hopefully, Lexi’s indifferent was not because he was holding back anger. It wouldn’t be dangerous if the emotions would accumulate, like an atomic bomb ready to explode.
