Chapter 784
He definitely knew what he was doing. This was no spur-of-the-moment thing. The second he realized who Cassie was, even though he was still boiling with anger, the thought just wouldn't leave his mind. Cassie, on the other hand, seemed a bit clueless about what being a couple really meant. It's not just about eating, drinking, and hanging out together all the time. He had to act fast, before she changed her mind or something else got in the way.
But Cassie's surprised reaction made him second-guess himself for a moment.
"You don't want to?"
"I do, I really do want to marry you." Cassie was nothing if not straightforward. She felt like marrying Winston was a stroke of pure luck.
"So, what's the holdup? Let's head to city hall and tie the knot right now."
Cassie got up and walked to the window, pulling the curtains wide open. "Buddy, it's nighttime."
Winston was momentarily speechless.
Cassie returned to the dining table, "You head home for now, and I'll come with you tomorrow to get the license."
Winston was practically bursting with happiness, but he kept a straight face. "Alright."
He stood up and made his way to the door, with Cassie following him.
As he stepped out, he said, "I'm leaving now, don't change your mind tomorrow."
"I, Cassie, stick to my word. If anyone backs out, they're a coward,” she reassured him, secretly worried he might be the one to reconsider this unexpected good fortune.
Winston nodded, "Okay, I'm leaving then."
"See you," she replied.
He took a few steps out and then turned back, "Don't forget your documents tomorrow."
"Gotcha."
"So, I'm really heading out now?"
"Yep, take care on your way."
Winston took tiny steps toward leaving but hesitated. "I'm a bit thirsty. Let me grab some water before I go."
Cassie grabbed a bottle from the cab by the door and handed it to him. "Take this to drink on the way."
Winston was at a loss for words.
Cassie looked at him earnestly, "Need another?"
He shook his head, slightly frustrated but amused, "One's enough."

Finally, he managed to walk away, and Cassie quickly shut the door. Leaning against it, her heart raced uncontrollably. She touched her face, feeling the heat rising. She knew exactly why Winston lingered. Her demeanor might be a bit rough around the edges, but inside, she was still very much a woman. If she had asked him to stay, she knew
where things would lead.
It had been an overwhelming day; she needed a moment to gather her thoughts. Cassie took a deep breath, intending to take a shower to clear her mind. But as soon as she took a couple of steps, the door pounded loudly. She jumped, startled.
Peering through the peephole, she saw Winston standing outside again. Her heart thumped even harder. The knocking continued. After a brief hesitation, she opened the door.noveldrama
"What now?" she asked.
Winston's tall figure filled the doorway, and he stepped inside, his eyes intense and voice low, "I don't want to leave."
With that, he pulled Cassie into a fierce kiss. His lips were searing, and he pushed her back step by step, as if he wanted to make her a part of him. Cassie let herself go, wrapping her arms around his neck. Their kiss was fiery and passionate.
Eventually, she found herself pinned against the wall, both their jackets gone. They were breathing heavily. Winston usually so composed, now looked like a hungry wolf, his eyes full of desire. He rested his forehead against hers, his voice rough with emotion, "How about we start our honeymoon early?"
