Chloe was surprised: "Kent has a thing for your older sister?"

Connor nodded: "Yeah, just a crush from back in the day. But beyond that, he's backing the marriage because he knows Pax is set to lead the Gilbert family one day. Kent's no fool; he never makes a move without thinking of the gains."

Chloe sighed: "They've thought of everything - the perks, the connections, the future - but not how the bride and groom feel. When people become mere pawns of profit, where's the joy in life?"
