FALLING FOR A HEARTLESS BETA

CHAPTER 29

=-Dale’s POV=-

Actually, I don’t know what’s happening to me anymore. I couldn’t stop thinking about Amber, and just the thought of her being married to another man was so painful to think about.

One day, when he was trying to come up with a better decision regarding Amber, Jacob called that he was coming. Fortunately, the new maid has already arrived, so Amber didn’t have to prepare everything just like before.

“You like him,” Jacob said, and he didn’t give me a chance to say no.

“Yes,” I admitted the truth.

“Until now you still like her?” Jacob couldn’t believe what I told him.

“I cannot dictate my heart. I want her.”

Jacob laughed at my funny response.

“What’s your plan?” he asked.

“To tell you the truth, I do not know.”

I shook my head when I couldn’t stop thinking about the woman who cooked the best steak for me. I couldn’t stop thinking about the woman whose body was so soft underneath me.

“Maybe you like her because of her skills in the kitchen,” Jacob tried to put some sense into my head.

“Do you think so?”

For the first time, I wasn’t sure about something, and Jacob laughed at me, but then I realized that he was faking his smile since he arrived.

“Do you want some beer? We can talk about what’s bothering you, dude.”

“It’s Bethany,” he replied.

I closed my eyes the moment I heard Bethany’s name. After Jacob discovered where she was working, he abducted her and forced her to become his again. I felt bad for Bethany for experiencing all of those things, but then I realized I have been doing the same to Amber.

“Maybe it’s time to let her go,” I suggested.

“No! I just have to find the man who has been helping her hide from me. The bastard deserved to be killed for not minding his own business!” Jacob screamed furiously.

I tried to smile at my friend who was so worked up because of Bethany. Then, I casually checked my phone to see if she has called. Jacob mentioned that Bethany managed to escape, so I was waiting for the woman’s call.

“I love her. I just love her so much,” Jacob mumbled.

“I don’t think it’s love, Jacob. It’s an obsession,” I told him, and the word hit me big time.

Just like Jacob, I was also obsessed with Amber. I couldn’t let him go to the other man even if I was the one who arranged for her to marry Jacob’s brother.

“Hmmm, about Amber’s wedding,” I started.

“We have to discuss it some other time, Dale. Right now, all I could think about is Bethany!”

“Perhaps it’s better for Bethany to be away from you. You know it is dangerous for Bethany to show up right now, Jacob,” I reminded him about his second wife.

Jacob’s love life was really complicated. First, he married Lucy and caused her to kill herself, then he married Lucy’s twin and did everything to divorce the woman.

Sometimes, I really had no idea what was going on inside Jacob’s head. Although his manipulations against the twin were beneficial to him, it has a worse effect. He just endangered the life of Bethany…and their daughter!

“Just let her go. It’s time for you to move on, Jacob. She doesn’t love you,” I told him.

“Wrong. She loves me so much but she also hates me. Still, hate is love, Dale, and you know it. I have to find her, and once I did, I wouldn’t let her out of my sight again!”

“Maybe, she already returned to her pack,” I said.

“Impossible! She once told me how much she hates her father for being domineering and controlling,” Jacob said.

“You got your answer, dude. She hates a domineering man and that’s the reason why she left home, and then you tried to control her. What do you think will happen?”

“She will also hate me,” Jacob replied.

“Precisely! You have to change your style in dealing with Bethany if ever you will meet her again,” I said, but I doubt he would have a chance to see his lady love again.

“And what about you, Dale? What is your plan for Amber?”

“Nothing has changed, Jacob. She still has to marry your brother, and she would be shipped off to Clayland,” I replied.

“Even if it’s hurting you, will you still send her away? You have to think again, Dale. Love moves in mysterious ways, and you don’t have to control yourself anymore. I have met Amber on several occasions and she doesn’t like me. I am not her type, so you have nothing to worry about ruining our friendship because of a woman,” Jacob stated a fact.

“No, it’s not that simple, Jacob.”All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.

“It is very simple, Dale. Just own up to your feelings, and that’s it.”

I wanted to inform Jacob that I may have blurted those words when I made love with Amber yesterday. I knew she wanted to talk to me about it but I have been avoiding her since then.

I pretended to be busy but I just wasn’t ready for a confrontation.  She probably heard those words but I didn’t want to repeat saying those. What was I thinking? Why did I tell her that I love her?

However, if she was smart enough, she would think that I just said it because of what we were doing. Men were known to blurt out words while fucking a woman.

I was so engrossed in my thoughts that I almost missed her call.

“Dale, your phone is ringing. It might be urgent,” Jacob told me to take the call.

So, I did.

“Yes? How may I help you?” I asked, and then I listened to her story on the other line. “Hmmm, I think you have to go to the resort. You know what I am talking about,” I said, and then I casually called Jacob’s name to let her know that Jacob was with me.
