Chapter 21
Chapter 21
After saying goodbye to the kids, Emma turned around and saw Jamie standing in the corridor waiting
for her.
The setting sun cast a warm yellow light on him.
Emma smiled at him and walked quickly.
"I can go back by myself. You don't need to come all the way to pick me up. It's too tiring." Emma said
with a slight reproach.
Jamie was as gentle as before.
He naturally took Emma's hand and said fondly, "Today is my sweetheart's birthday. I must be with you
even if I’m busy."
Emma was surprised. She had not spent birthday since she married Glenn. Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
"You still remember? I almost forgot." Emma smiled, and took out the hand that was held uncomfortably
by Jamie.
Jamie tried hard to resist the urge of occupying her. He helped her fasten her seat belt gently.
"I remember all the things about you." He said with a kiss on her forehead, and continued gently, "Are
you ready, my princess?"
Emma nodded, trying to relax herself and to accept Jamie's love.
Jamie took her to a high-level Italian restaurant. The restaurant manager came out and arranged a box
for them.
This box was very quiet, no one passing by. There was a elegant and soft violin music, making the
atmosphere in the box more in explicit.
As soon as Emma sat down, she saw Jamie coming in with a big cake on which a little fairy in a white
wedding dress looked like herself.
Will he propose so soon? What should I do?
Emma was suddenly a little nervous. She was not prepared enough for being with Jamie.
"Emma?"
Jamie interrupted her thinking. When Emma reflected, she saw Jamie kneeling on one knee and
holding a ring in the palm of his hand.
Emma was so shocked.
Before she could react, Jamie took her hand with his eyes full of love.
"Emma, are you willing to be my wife?" I promise that I will cherish you through sickness and health. I
will do my best to protect you in our limited life. I will not let you sad and hurt, until the end of life!"
Emma was completely overcame with astonishment.
She didn't react until the ring was put on her hand. She wanted to take it down and explained in a flurry.
"No, I'm not..."
Just then, there was a loud noise at the door of the box.
Glenn kicked the door open, staring at them and the ring on her hand angrily.
Emma's head stuck there like rust.
In fact, her brain was completely in a blank.
She had imagined about meeting Glenn again.
She thought maybe he would pass her like a stranger, leaving her a look of contempt.
Or maybe he will lose his mind for a moment, and then say "long time no see" to her.
He may even rush up to grab her neck and ask why she had to kill him with a pillow that night.
Most likely, he would never see her again in the rest of the life.
She had imagined many kinds of possibilities. But there is no such a thing in her imagination that he
would met her as to "catch adultery in the act".
However, they had been divorced. What was his qualification to catch an adultery?
Thinking of this, Emma pulled back the hand held in Jamie's palm, straightened her back slightly, and
tried to look at Glenn without any emotion.
Surprisingly, Glenn didn't get angry this time. Instead, he stood like a sculpture at the door for a
moment before he was back to his senses. His face was so gloomy.
They looked at each other for a long time until Jamie interrupted the awkward atmosphere.
He took Emma's hand without giving Glenn a glance, and said, "Emma, let's go."
Emma was pulled forward by Jamie. Glenn's heart were hurt by their entangled fingers and the ring on
Emma's hand.
As Emma passed by, he grabbed her and said in a low voice, "How dare you?"
It was for Emma.
Emma swayed a little bit. As the one who had been bullied most by Glenn, she knew that this was the
omen of Glenn's real anger.
But they had nothing to do with each other. Why should she be afraid?
Emma calmed down and said indifferently, "Who are you, sir?"
Glenn was stunned. Emma had been married to him for three years and had never spoken to him in
such a tone.
He was used to her fear eyes mixed with love. But now she treated him like a dog or cat on the side of
the road. This made him especially unhappy.
He clenched Emma's fingers tighter with a sneer. And there was a grim expression on his face.
"Emma, you owe me a life!"
Emma tried to struggle but she didn't succeed. She said to Jamie, "Jamie, I have something to talk to
him. Can you wait for me for a while outside?"
Jamie walked out with worry.
Emma then looked at Glenn and said to him.
"Glenn, I did try to kill you in the hospital that day, but aren't you standing well here now? What
happened before has been the past. Let's be strangers from now on, OK?"
Glenn seemed to laughed at her "peace treaty" in anger.
He said, "It was a murder, you know? If I didn't wake up in time that day, did you want to kill me and be
with that guy?
Actually, I wanted to die with you that day. Emma answered in her heart.
But these are not important now.
she raised her head and looked at the man in front of her for the first time in a less humble way.
"Speaking of murder, what about you murdering my four kids?"
She was talking about the four fetuses she had forced to abort.
Glenn was surprised. He released his hand which was grabbing Emma. Emma quickly took out her
hand and rubbed it.
"Glenn, to tell you the truth, I used to love you so much that I could die for you, but that was just once."
Emma got serious and said the words to the man she had loved crazily. She did not dare to say those
words before.
"You are the disaster in my life. I had been struggling to escape from this disaster and finally I succeed.
Now I just want to live a peaceful life. So let's stop torturing each other."
