Chapter 40 A Princess Without A Kingdom Is Nothing
The cool evening breeze caressed Empress Ki Min Su’s face as she stood at the pavilion in front of her chamber. She had a pinpoint look in her eyes as she stared out at her maids lining perfectly outside the pavilion. One would think she is looking at her maids but her eyes were only on them, not her mind.
The cool weather wouldn’t stop carrying her white hanbok dress imprinted with a red flower pattern on it in the air. Her dark hair was brushed back into a lower bun and styled with a binyeo; a phoenix hair pin used by the queen. Her hand resting on her chin showcased a golden ring on her finger.
As she stood there at the pavilion, different thoughts kept flashing into her head.
Growing up she had always thought of getting married to a man she’d love and a man that would love and respect her in return, but those were merely a fairy tale to her ever since she got married to this cold aura Emperor. She was a abandone woman who took joy in being lonely. it was a thing she adapted to after her marriage; A marriage that is like a bondage to her. Her husband treats her as his enemy. He made her feel worthless.
“Your Majesty. The prime minister is here!”
Her thoughts were cut short when she heard her court lady voice. She turned back to the other side to see her father standing very close to her. He must have been standing for a long time but lost in her thoughts she didn’t notice him. She managed a light smile that she could muster on her lip to him.
The prime minister bowed courteously. Her face contorted in worry as he said. “Did Your majesty heard about the new”
She takes a sharp breath. Anxiety gripped her voice as she replied slowly. “Yes. I heard it was a princess”
Waking up from her short nap, she was informed by her court lady the decision her husband had taken. She can’t believe another competitor is coming for her and to think it was a princess he is planning on taking as a concubine this time around makes her feel insecure. The other royal concubines are from a noble family just like her. They weren’t from a royal blood family like the oncoming princess.
Fear gripped her instantly; her cherry red lip turned pale white as she bit them to keep them from shaking.
Noticing her daughter’s fear, the prime minister clenched her fist tightly by their side. He is also scared but he can’t show her daughter his anxiety. He had heard a lot about the princess of Buyeo. She was rumoured to be good at martial arts and a lot of things anyone could imagine a princess will know.
He snapped out of his fear and took the Empress hand in his, squeezing them softly before speaking. “There is no way to stop this disaster. His Majesty is adamant on taking the princess of Buyeo as his fourth concubine and no one could break his order”
Empress Ki mi su swallowed hard and released a huge sigh. There is absolutely no way to stop this disaster that has befall her like her father had said. She just had to be strong like she has always been. She must not get intimidated by her. And to accomplish that she needs to gain the upper hand before she does. She must show her who the owner of the internal court is when she arrives so she will dare not disrespect her or anything.
But coming to think of it. Why is she even scared?. A princess could only remain as one as long as her kingdom is still intact but without her kingdom she is nothing but a common people.
Solicit glinted in her eyes as soon as the ideas came to her head and immediately she threw the question to her father. “Is it true His Majesty order a complete annihilation on Buyeo”
“Yes. The crown prince of Buyeo rejected the marriage and because of that he had ordered that there will be a war against their kingdom but why did you ask?.” The prime minister replied wondering what she is planning on doing.Property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
With a sly smile on her lip and determined look in her eyes she uttered. “Don’t worry Father. I know how to handle her when she arrives”
She looked out from her father who was still staring at her in surprise and drifted her gaze to the empty space. She smiled; a crooked smile.

Walking aimlessly is the perfect word to use in her situation right now. She had found herself in a forest unknown to her. Rainstorm that was falling off the bloated sky had drenched her body, leaving her clothes stuck against her skin like blood stacked against a white parchment.
Her eyes scoured around for upteent time. There’s nothing but just a rock and jungle surrounding her.
Suddenly a loud pound of footsteps resound in the air. This starlted Suk as a different thought rampaged in her head. This wasn’t how human footsteps sound, then what it is?. What else could be in this wild forest except for an animal. If that is the case, there is no need to be afraid she can defeat what it was. She assured herself as her eyes moved around in search of the oncoming creature.
Almost Immediately through the jungle a huge animal emerged. Suk gulped convulsively upon seeing the huge beast before her. This isn’t something she can defeat. She had never seen this type of animal before in her life and what surprised her more is the fact that she didn’t know which category she would place the being in front of her in. Is it an animal or human being?. With the structure of that of a human being, its big red eyes brimmed fire in them when it landed on her. The creature growls and bares its long fangs at her.
Immediately Suk sprinted through the jungle, the giant beast at her heels. Her inside froze as the ground ahead seemed slippery. She slid, grabbing a tree limb to keep herself from plunging against the steep. Suk’s heart thudded as something crashed toward her. She already knew the beast was able to catch up with her. Bracing herself against the tree, Suk stood in a defensive position to face the beast.
There is no point in running because she knows she will die, but if she must die then she won’t die without a fight. At least she won’t go in complete dishonor. A dark form burst through the overgrowth leaves and tendrils as the creature plowed forward, flaming red eyes and tusk to crash on her.
In a lightning speed before Suk could get out of her fear to defend herself the beast attacks her. Suk was forced to kneel against her wish. The beast attacks like a whirlwind not giving her a chance to catch her breath, and before realizing anything it claws was coming toward her heart.
“No!!”
Suk eyes opened and stared into darkness. Her heart beating against the cage of her rib. She could vividly remember the vicious eyes of the beast.
What the hell is that?.
