Gaze
Verena’s POV
“I’m sorry but it’s against our law, if you’re saved by werewolves you need to repay for four months and after that your memories will be removed.”
“Is that serious?” I asked dumbfounded
I am so frustrated right now. I just want to go home, watch movies while drinking wine.
“Do I look like I’m bluffing?” She plastered her best ridiculous smile.
This is a trap. I can feel the uneasiness of my gut. I should make a plan and escape without notice.
But all eyes are on me of course they wouldn’t just let me escape. They would kill me eventually if I resist.
First I should disguise my real identity.
Second I would serve the pack or whoever the hell was it.
Third, get their trust.
Last and final plan, escape this place.
“By the way, you should clean up. Dad said your wounds are probably scars now. I’ll tour you around the pack.” She said then she stood up and left the room.
I confiscated the room, there is a small bathroom but it also has a small bathtub.
After finding the bathroom and doing my business, I headed to the sink, where I scrubbed my hands and stomach with the bar of soap, growing queasy as I watched red run down the drain.
I shuddered at the thought that a few days ago I’m in the brink of dying.Belonging to NôvelDrama.Org.
In the mirror, I stared into my green eyes. I always thought they lacked spark, their shine, even though I’d been told they were striking by a model agent who approached me on the street and slipped me his business card. I was intrigued. I always tend to recognize myself as plain and cold.
This is my life now. Trapped and caged in the middle of nowhere inside the pack of werewolves ready to kill me if I make any suspicious moves.
I got out of the room bored of waiting for Rox to fetch me. When I realized I’m not in a simple tiny house. I roam the empty hallways until I reach the right wing.
This is a freaking castle. What the hell. I thought werewolves stayed in wood houses inside of a forest, I never thought that they’re rich.
Pictures are displayed on the walls. Long end hallways on this side of the castle are full of wolves and faces. Must be the ancients.
They must be dead
The marble floor was cold against my feet as I took the turn towards another hallway.
Jesus, what kind of place is this.
I collided with something solid.
A lungful of air escaped me. I’d been going so fast I would have fallen to my butt on the floor, but an arm wrapped around my waist as I teetered backward and steadied me. It was an incredibly warm and heavy arm.
“What are you doing here?” The voice is familiar. When I looked up I met the cold gaze of the blue eyed man.
It’s Damon.
My stomach tightened as it pressed against his. The contact made me tingle everywhere, but I didn’t have time to analyze the feeling more.
“I was looking around, I found Rox.”
“You’ll never find her here. This is only allowed for werewolves residing here. Werewolves tend to have mind blowing sex with their mates so they are placed here so children won’t hear them.” The smirk on his face grew when he stared at the pink hue in my cheeks. I hissed under my breath.
“You don’t need to tell me that…” I turned
my back but he grabbed me by my wrist.
“Rox is busy, I’ll show you around.” The coldness was gone in his voice, it was warm and metallic. Tastes like expired lollipop.
He spun around so I could follow his trail.
We walked down the hallway until we reached the grand staircase. I was amazed by how enchanting the place was.
It was warm, cozy and comfortable.
“It is the alpha’s feelings. He can project it throughout the whole place.”
“That’s oddly cool.” I replied. I look around only to see Rox playing with some bunch of kids.
He stared at me blankly and it embarrassed me. I could kick this man and let him lose his consciousness. But I won’t do so. It’s a pity so don’t stare at me like you’re the one who’s giving me a pitiful state. I want to shout this at him and let me be at my designated room to sulk.
“You seem tired.” He said.
I am! We’ve been walking non stop for 30 minutes without taking breaks only to sight see a bunch of greenery outside of their fancy castle.
“Do I look tired at all?” The sarcasm in my voice only for him to strangle me. What the hell is wrong with this man seriously.
“Don’t be sassy with me young lady.”
“I can’t breathe let… m-me go.” The shock and panic put me to the bridge of unknown emotions I’ve experienced before.
He let me go and he continued walking like he didn’t do something murderous. My combat skills seem to fly off out of the window the moment I’m held captive here
.
When I finally caught my normal breathing pattern, I caught up with him.
“You should be careful in this area. Rogues are drooling on this place waiting to devour someone.”
Should I fear the rogues or you Demon Damon. Wolves can use the skill of “telling them before strangling them” before killing someone who’s innocently shocked.
This place is oddly familiar.
I can sense pain and fear. I can hear shouting, my ear panged from the pain of relentless ringing. I gritted my teeth. I stopped from my track to only feel my muscles tingle.
I look around only to perceive blurry picturesque. I shake my head feeling that this might be me hallucinating.
I saw how Damon stared at me, his eyes burning blue. His claws elongated.
I inhaled, on the brink of losing consciousness.
Flashbacks came running down. From the moment someone slapped me from the face that the sound was heard across the room in the orphanage to the moment I’m laying in the ground full of blood.
My right ankle is in pain like it is tightly chained. I gasped when Damon caught me before falling onto the ground.
“You’re a fucking witch.”
