Chapter 27
Chapter 27
"Let's talk about it later," Lenny said after a long silence.
"Very well. I'll take my leave now, sir."
Drake didn't dare to say anything more.
When Scarlet returned to the studio, someone from the Foster Group called soon after to confirm the
delivery date and demanded that the person who got their boss's order delivered the clothes in person.
That meant that Scarlet had to make the delivery personally.
"Who is it? It's so amazing that he or she won Mr. Foster's business deal. The studio has only been
around for a short time, but we were already able to secure a lucrative deal with Lenny Foster, the
richest man in Wellholt. If word gets out that we designed suits for him, other companies will be lining
up to hire us."
"Oh, my God! Did I hear it right? Mr. Lenny Foster of the Foster Group is now one of our valued
clients? He's tall and handsome, and he's excellent in all aspects. In fact, he's a double-degree doctor."
"Who won the deal?"
The students began to discuss among themselves.
Evie stood up from her seat. She was a graduate student, and Marlon was her personal tutor. She was
superior to anyone else in the studio. She was very talented and capable, so when Marlon wasn't
around, she was the person in charge.
Evie said reluctantly, "Scarlet did."
"Oh, my God! Scarlet, you are awesome!"
"Tell us how you did it."
"Evie, didn't Mr. Smith say that there would be a commission? How much is it?"
"Yes. The commission is one hundred thousand dollars."
Hearing this, everyone instantly felt jealous of Scarlet. They were all students. If any one of them got
one hundred thousand dollars in an instant, that person would probably go crazy with joy.
Evie gritted her teeth with hatred. She was from a poor family and had been working part-time.
She was supposed to be the one to take Lenny's assistant's measurements. But something urgent
came up at school, and she had to delegate her task to Scarlet so that she was able to attend to the
emergency.
Evie didn't know what kind of luck Scarlet had to get such a big order from Lenny himself. All content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
And just like that, Evie lost the chance to win one hundred thousand dollars. Marlon was ecstatic upon
hearing the news of Scarlet's achievement. He even said that he would throw a celebration party in
honor of Scarlet.
When Evie saw the shy smile on Scarlet's face, she scoffed. Her smile was obviously coming from a
place of self-satisfaction.
Evie went back to her desk and sulked.
Seeing that everyone was so happy for her, Scarlet promised her schoolmates that she would share
her prize by buying them cake.
The moment Scarlet got the money, she immediately returned the twenty thousand dollars that Yasmin
lent her and ordered cake for everyone.
She personally went to give Evie her piece.
"Evie, here's your cake."
"You get one hundred thousand dollars, and all you can buy for us is fifty-dollar cake? Can't you cough
up at least one hundred dollars for your colleagues? Why are you being so stingy?"
Evie spoke in a voice that dripped with sarcasm, making the other students turn to look at her.
"I have been living a frugal existence and don't have much money. I really can't afford a more
expensive cake," Scarlet said apologetically.
"Evie, Scarlet was kind enough to treat us with her hard-earned money. It wasn't easy for her to secure
this deal, and just like ours, her money doesn't grow on trees. We can't expect her to spend carelessly
for us."
One of her colleagues stood up for Scarlet, which made Scarlet feel warm in her heart.
"Oh, don't be so serious. I was just kidding. Scarlet is awesome. She convinced Mr. Foster to hire us.
But I hear that some saleswomen use their bodies to win profitable contracts with clients. Scarlet, you
don't happen to be such a girl, right?"
As soon as Evie's words were out, everyone turned to look at Scarlet suspiciously.
After all, her strength wasn't outstanding among her peers, but her face was pure and beautiful. Her
oval-shaped face had a girlish chubbiness to it that suggested youthfulness and innocence. Her
features were delicate, as if God had especially taken the time to create her. Physically, Scarlet was the
embodiment of perfection.
Even though she wore cheap clothes, her good temperament was undeniable. She was lovely and
sincere, and she made people feel an indescribable sense of comfort.
The order was worth tens of millions of dollars. One hundred thousand dollars as commission was
relatively low.
Did Scarlet sell her body for that much to Lenny in his office? Everyone couldn't help speculating.
