Chapter 22 The orphanage
The next morning,
Niguel woke up by the chirping sounds of the birds.
The cool morning breeze blew across his face and he slowly unveiled his eyes and looking beside him, he saw the tiny figure of Emily who was still fast asleep in his arms.
Her tiny hands were wrapped tightly across his waist as if clutching onto him and he smiled.
Knowing any slight movement from him would wake her up, he made no attempt of standing up from the bed. Instead he drank in her beautiful appearance.
Her eyelashes were long and curly and her delicate ears framed a button nose.
Her lips were delicate and pink in colour, and were slightly parted as she slept soundly like a baby.
He removed the strands of hair on her face and couldn’t help but to softly caress her cheeks as he watched her sleep.
“Are you really the one?” He asked in whispers, still caressing her soft cheeks before sighing frustratedly.
Withdrawing his hands from her cheeks, he stared at her sleeping face one last time before finally closing his eyes, patiently waiting for the sleeping beauty to wake up.
Emily woke up two hours later, opening her eyes, she stirred lazily on the bed and Niguel didn’t fail to hear her slight movements.
“Finally awake?”
He asked, his husky morning voice startling the hell out of her.
“Good morning.” She greeted, her velvety voice sounding like music to his ears and he hummed.
“Good morning.” He replied, making to stand up from the bed and that was when Emily noticed where she had placed her hand and her face reddened in embarrassment.
“I never knew pretty ladies do snore Emily.” Niguel teased, sitting on the bed and the already embarrassed Emily just turned more red.
“I don’t snore.” She defended, getting more embarrassed as she blinked her eyelashes multiple times.
“I didn’t mention your name Emily or did I?” Niguel chuckled, standing up from the bed while making his way towards the table in the room, his words taunting her.
“I don’t snore.” She repeated, her voice coming in whispers.
“Of course you don’t.” Niguel sardonically agreed, now scribbling down some words on a piece of paper.Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.
“Go have your bath Emily, we’ll be visiting an old place later in the day.” He added and Emily furrowed her eyebrows.
“An old place?” Curiosity got the best of her and she couldn’t help but to ask.
Were they perhaps attending another party? But what about the company?
She asked herself.
“Yes Emily, an old place, you’ll know when we get there.” He muttered.
“Hopefully.”
Niguel added, not allowing her hear the last word he muttered.
“Aren’t we going to the company today?” She asked and Niguel turned to face her.
“As the CEO and also your boss, I’m giving you the day off to be with me.” He announced and she rolled her eyes.
Why does he have to be so dramatic?
“Now go have your bath, we don’t want to be late.” He reprimanded.
“Hmmmm.”
She hummed, standing up from the bed and making her way towards the bathroom to have her bath.
She came out of the bathroom minutes later and discovered Niguel wasn’t in the room anymore and she breathed out a sigh of relief.
Seemed he gave her some space to dress up and prepare for the outing.
She thought to herself and that was when it occurred to her. She didn’t come with any of her stuffs, not even a change of her underwear. He hadn’t given her a chance to.
What was she going to wear?
Worry started building inside her.
As if reading her mind, a knock was suddenly heard on the door, disturbing her thoughts and Emily hissed in anger.
“Come in.” She urged, and the door opened, revealing a maid who had a box in her hands.
“Mr Niguel asked me to deliver this to you, Miss.” The maid announced, dropping the box on the bed before quietly making her way out of the door leaving Emily who stared at the box in curiosity.
Opening the box, Emily saw a short casual nude coloured gown, a pair of black leather d’orsay heels, a set of black lacy underwear, a set of jewelries and finally, a black bag, all neatly arranged inside the box.
Niguel sure does have a plan for everything.
She thought in admiration.
Emily started by applying lotion on her skin and proceeded on to wearing her underwear before finally wearing the nude gown, the jewelry and then her shoes. She took a brush from the table and quickly brushed her messy hair before leaving the room.
“Took you long enough.”
A voice boomed in the corridor immediately she left the room and slowly turning to her side, Emily saw Niguel who was casually dressed resting on the wall beside the door.
Unlike his usual suit and tie she usually saw him in since she’d met him, Niguel was clothed in a casual wear this time. Dressed in a pair of black jeans trousers, a white sleavless top and a pair of black sneakers to match. His wavy black hair was combed backwards and his lips held a pout, He was effortlessly charming.
“I’m sorry for keeping you waiting.” Emily apologized and Niguel sighed.
“Come let’s have breakfast, we’ll be leaving soon.” He muttered, walking past her and she quietly trailed behind him.
They descended the stairs together, towards the living room and Emily was left speechless.
She hadn’t taken her time to inspect the house when she’d entered the night before but looking around the house right now, she was left fascinated.
Once they reached the living room, there were more maid’s lined up in the entrance hall.
The entire house was painted in a light cream color and translucent curtains ran throughout the house bringing in the required brightness and airness it needed.
The interiors was accordingly impressive and exquisitely designed and parts of the walls were covered with glasses, revealing the beautiful garden which was at the backyard and the clean swimming pool which was at the far end of the building. Paintings were on every available swatch of the wall and Emily was marvelled.
Everything in the house was rich and lavish.
Getting to the dinning table, Niguel eyes scanned the room and discovered a person was missing on the table.
“Where’s my mother?” He asked, taking a seat beside Emily on the table.
“Mrs Eagan left very early this morning sir Niguel.” A maid replied and Niguel sighed.
“And no one bothered to tell me?” His eyes scanned his maids one after the other and they shivered from fear.
“She ordered us not to disturb you and the Miss, sir Niguel.”the maid quickly replied and Niguel shooked his head.
He will call her later.
Niguel and Emily ate in silence as no one made an attempt on starting or engaging another in a conversation and soon enough they were done with breakfast.
“Are you comfortable in those?” Niguel asked, seeing Emily stumble on her heels as they made their way to the car.
“Yes I am.” She confidently replied, wobbling on her heels before properly balancing herself on the floor and Niguel tried his best not to laugh.
Jenna also had this problem, not being able to walk properly on heels, making her end up wearing slippers on her birthday.
He chuckled remembering the past event.
“If you say so.” He muttered, opening the car door for her and she hopped in, before he went to the driver’s seat.
“Strap in your seat belt Emily.” Niguel ordered, switching on the car engine while strapping in his own seat belt. Emily obeyed and in the next minute, his car drove out of the compound.
The drive to the said location took less than 15 minutes and Niguel car came to a halt.
“We’re here.” Niguel announced, parking in an unfamiliar environment and Emily was surprised.
“We could have just walked.” She muttered, alighting from the car, followed by Niguel.
“Oh really? It would have been great watching you fall on the road you know? Why didn’t I think of that?” He mockily asked and she shot him a deadly glare.
“C’mon, Don’t give those eyes now, you suggested it, remember?” He reminded, opening the gate and walking into the Compound while the fuming Emily trailed behind him.
“Where are we?” She asked, coming to walk beside him.
“Orphanage, we’re at the orphanage Emily.” He blurted out.
