Chapter 25 Memories of the past II
“He asked you to be what?”
Olivia exclaimed, after listening to Emily explaination of what transpired between her and her boss the last few days.
“So you’re like his fiancee now?” She asked and Emily nodded her head.
“That’s great!” She squealed happily. “OMG I can’t believe I’m talking to a CEO financee right now.” She teased and Emily let out a light laugh.
“Please don’t start now Olivia.”
“Olivia?” Emily slowly called, her laughter dying down.
“Yes Mrs CEO.” Olivia replied and she chuckled.
“Have I ever visited an orphanage before? Maybe with you?” She asked and Olivia froze on her seat. Her body went numb, hearing the question Emily asked.
“Why… Why do you ask Em?” She shuttered.
“I visited this orphanage with Niguel, Saint Margaret Orphanage. And it felt like I’ve visited the place a time or two in the past.
The kids were so lovely and this little boy, Matthew, he behaved so maturely.” She replied smiling and Olivia became more tense.
Was she finally regaining her memories?
“I don’t think so Emily, we haven’t visited an orphanage before.” She answered and Emily sighed.
“I thought as much, I don’t remember doing so too.” Emily muttered and Olivia smiled.
“You worry too much Emily, go have a shower girl.” She urged and Emily nodded.
“Hmmm.” She hummed, standing up from the bed, making her way to the bathroom.
…
MILLER’S RESIDENCE
Mr Williams paced to and fro in his room staring at the brown envelope in his hands and a deep frown was on his face.
He had received the letter an hour ago and opening the envelope, he had found a USB drive neatly packed inside the envelope coupled with a letter.
Inserting the drive into his laptop, he had watched a short clip of his daughter, Jenna running out of the car, few seconds before the car blew up in fire.
He opened the letter and it read;
“Your daughter still lives Mr Williams.”
As the words registered in his head, Mr Williams gripped the letter tightly, confused as to what to make of the whole situation.
His daughter had been declared dead some years back and the news had shattered him to pieces.
He loved Jenna dearly, more than the way he loved all his children and he hadn’t bother hiding it. He showered her with lots of love and gifts, giving her the attention she needed and that didn’t make her become spoilt instead she turned out to be very kind and showed alot of sympathy just like her mother, Iris, the woman he fell in love with.
He had wanted to marry her, to make her his wife and to cherish her, but his family were solemnly against it as she came from a poor family and was not of benefit to the family. They arranged a quick and private marriage for him and he got married, keeping it all from Iris for almost two years.
She was two months pregnant when she found out about his marriage with his curret wife, Isabella, and she was beyond hurt.
“Go away, I don’t want to ever see you again.” She had yelled on top of her voice in anger, tears streaming down her face as she pushed him away.
She relocated to another town, not telling him about his baby growing inside her belly and she went through hell alone.
“Boss we found miss Iris.” His secretary had announced to him after months of searching for her and his face lit up in a smile.
“But she’s dieing boss. She lost so much blood after giving birth, the child is yours.” His secretary blurted out and Williams face turned pale, the smile dissapearing from his lips.
Hurriedly getting to his car, Williams sped off like a mad man, getting to the hospital 18 minutes later and he barged into her ward. And in the center of the ward was Iris, laying almost lifeless on the bed and in her arms was a little baby girl. She slightly looked up to stare at him and tears slided down her cheeks.
“Iris.”
He whispered, taking a step towards her, guilt all written on his face.
“I’m so sorry Iris, I’m so sorry. I was a coward for lying to you and hurting you, I know but I love you Iris, I never stopped, I love you so much, I love you. ” Williams apologized, rushing his words and all she could do was to let out more tears as she stared at him.
He got to the bed and stared at the little creature in her arms and he let out a sad smile. She was the replica of his mother.
Silky black hair, Rubina shaped lips, an oval shaped face but his eyes. She had his large brown eyes.
He gently picked the little creature in his arms, staring at her and his lips parted to speak:
“She’s beautiful, just like you.” He muttered, holding her hand and Iris smiled, a bittersweet smile.
“Jenna, her name is Jenna.”© 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.
She announced and he smiled. Iris named her after her mother.
“Jenna it is.” He whispered.
Iris suddenly started convulsing, shaking violently on the bed and blood sprewed out of her mouth.
“Doctor! Doctor!”
Williams yelled, running outside to get a doctor with little Jenna in his arms but before they could get back inside, Iris was already dead and Williams cried his eyes out.
That nightw, he settled the hospital bills and took little Jenna home, to the Miller’s residence and as expected, his wife Isabella was not happy about it but there was nothing she could do.
Williams employed a mid wife to breast feed Jenna and also to take care of her while he catered for all her needs.
He made sure she attended the best school in the city, alongside her stepsister, Mia and stepbrother Nicholas.
She brought peace to him and his joy knew no bounds, until that rainy night when she was declared dead, breaking him for the second time.
As Williams recalled the past, he couldn’t help but smile at the thought of Iris. But the smile was short-lived and soon faded away the moment he noticed the letter he held in his hands.
His head throbbed with a million thoughts as he stared at the letter and the video clip in front of him.
Was this really true?
Had jenna survived and was now living in a world where he knew nothing of?
This were the thoughts that ran through Williams mind as he kept staring at the clip. Seconds went by and at last, Williams stood on his feet and walked towards the open window.
As of this moment he didn’t really care about anything else. All his life he’d lived with the thought that jenna died in that car explosion. But maybe the heavens weren’t that cruel after all and had bestowed him with a second chance.
Hence, if there was even a chance that what the letter said was true and jenna was still alive. Then Williams was ready to searched the whole world until he found her.
He’d lost her then but he wouldn’t lose her again. He would searched the whole world for her and wouldn’t rest until he found her.
