о 15:01 Wed, Oct 30 Chapter 5 Filip stared at Cynthia for a moment, a smirk creeping onto his face. “So, you’ve got a boyfriend now, huh?” “Yep. You said if I ever felt lonely, I could find someone. I’ve been on my own for three years, and I figured finding a guy is just alright,” Cynthia shot back, smiling. “Or is it only fine for you to have fun while I sit here and twiddle my thumbs?” Filip shrugged. “Well, if your boyfriend can keep you from bothering me, I’d throw him a thank-you party personally.” Honestly, Filip didn’t buy for a second that Cynthia had actually found someone. He believed She’d seen him talking on the phone with Lilian and was just pretending to have a boyfriend. It was a decent act – he could almost feel the jealousy pouring out of the furious guy on the other end of the line. As night fell, they didn’t sleep together. Cynthia took the bed, and Filip made himself comfortable on the floor. He still had a bit of gentlemanly pride, after all. Before going to bed, Cynthia turned the air conditioning down to the coldest setting and hid the remote. In the middle of the night, she woke up to see Filip curled up on the floor, hugging a pillow and shivering. A sense of satisfaction washed over her. The next morning, Filip woke up with a cold. Cynthia didn’t bother checking on him and headed straight to the office. She was a well-known host at a local news station, mainly pushing for a special segment called “Midday News Insight.” She actually held a name in the industry. Recently, the prime-time host, Linda, had moved to a new station, and Cynthia had her sights set on Linda’s former position. After finishing her news segment, she found herself free for the rest of the day. Around four in the afternoon, she swung back to the Yates residence.
Not long after Gynthia got home, Filip walked in, looking like had just come back from spending time with Lilian. As he entered, Cynthia had just slipped into a fresh outfit and was doing her makeup. She wore a gorgeous silk dress, with intricate embroidery around the neckline and waist. From a distance, the embroidery blended beautifully with the fabric, but up close, it was impressively delicate. Spotting Filip, Cynthia stood up and twirled gracefully. “What do you think? Do I look good?” Despite how much he tried to resist, Filip had to admit that she looked incredible. Standing at 5’7″, she definitely turned heads in her heels. The dress hugged her figure perfectly, grazing her ankles and drawing attention to her slender legs. Her waist was slim and elegant, accentuating her curves in all the right places. Filip’s gaze traveled from her neckline to her stunning face. Even though the dress was a solid color, it highlighted her beautiful features, giving her a unique charm that combined a touch of innocence with a tempting allure. He swallowed hard but kept his cold facade. “It looks horrible. White really isn’t your color.” Cynthia rolled her eyes, turning away to apply her lipstick in the mirror. “What? Are you saying only Lilian can pull off white?” After finishing, she straightened and shot his reflection a dazzling smile, her challenge clear. “I’m wearing white, like it or not.” Filip couldn’t help but think she was lively and captivating. Her spoiled, sassy tone had a playful edge that stirred something inside him. – But then it hit him she was trying to seduce. He frowned. “Cynthia, stop messing with me. Even if you were wearing nothing, I wouldn’t give you a second glance. I’ll wait for you in the car.” With that, he walked out. 1/2 ||| O 15:01 Wed, Oct 30 NôvelDrama.Org owns all content.
Chapter 5 30% Ten minutes later, Cynthia-hopped into the car where Filip leaned back against the seat, eyes closed as he ordered, “Charlie, take me to Piedmont Manor.” An hour later, they finally reached the base of Piedmont Mountain. The car meandered along the winding road, lined with tall, leafy sycamore trees. The dense canopy overhead created a shadowy tunnel, making it feel like they were driving into. another world. Suddenly, the trees parted, revealing a grand building that looked like a castle as they got closer. The atmosphere buzzed with energy. The expansive lawn was dotted with shiny luxury cars, and a team of waitstaff in crisp white shirts and black vests greeted the arriving guests. With help from a staff member, Cynthia and Filip parked their car in the lot. The staff member then guided them into the “castle.” Heavy, ancient doors swung open, revealing a long red carpet that seemed to stretch on forever, welcoming everyone with its bright color. Cynthia paused, awestruck by the intricate patterns of the carpet. It was a handwoven Parysian carpet from Isfanyia, made of wool, cotton, silk, and threads of gold and silver. The vibrant colors and stunning craftsmanship took her breath away. The quality of the carpet under her feet was top- notch, generally worth around 20 thousand dollars per square foot. Staring at the impressive expanse of the red carpet, Cynthia gasped quietly. She had always known the Bennett family was. wealthy, and now, she was finally seeing it for herself. As they stepped into the villa, Cynthia’s eyes widened even more. The walls displayed beautiful ancient ceramics, a massive Enmeria grandfather clock stood tall, and ornate chandeliers hung from the ceiling. This was just the banquet hall, and she could only imagine the treasures hidden throughout the rest of the “castle.” Susanna had chosen a classic hosting style. One hundred round tables lined each side of the carpet, with name cards for each guest at every seat. The invitations had already assigned everyone to their spots- the Yates family was at table 99. “Look over there! Isn’t that the director of the Department of Land Administration in the black suit? And isn’t the guy in white the mayor of Roncrity?”
“Forget about the mayor of Roncrity; the mayor of Betrico is here too, along with several high- ranking officials. Susanna must have some serious connections.” *Out of 100 tables, Roncrity only gets two invites, and we’re at tables 99 and 100.” “Given all the other important people, just being at 99 and 100 is an honor.” The two chatting were Nora and Lucy, from Roncrity’s top families. They were friends of Cynthia’s mom, Selena, so Cynthia recognized them right away. As they crossed paths, Cynthia smiled politely. “Good evening, Nora, Lucy.” Nora and Lucy’s expressions shifted to one of mild sympathy when they spotted Cynthia. “Oh, Cynthia, you’re here too,” Nora exclaimed, her eyebrows lifting in surprise. “Selena and Shirley are over there, giving gifts to Susanna. You should go say hi,” Lucy encouraged, nodding toward a nearby group. 2/2 |||
