Chapter 38
Pulling her suitcase behind her as she walks out of the house minutes later, tears stream down her cheeks.
Standing at the roadside, and crying her eyes out like someone that just got her heart broken, Skylar feels her world crumbling down before her very eyes. Now she regrets everything she has done. She shouldn’t have continued her relationship with Raymond when she found out that she was her cousin’s boyfriend, but she chose to be a fool, and now she’s suffering for her mistake.
She couldn’t bring herself to go to Raymond’s house after realizing that the young man never loved her as he claimed. She accepts that it was all her fault, she started this shit in the first place, and she shouldn’t have seduced him, but that was because she found him attractive, that was because she couldn’t resist the urge, and now she’s stuck here.
A few minutes later, she finally flags down a cab and hops in without giving him her destination. Maybe squatting with Raymond for now before she finds her way later won’t be a bad idea. She doesn’t have money with her, not even a car that’ll transport her around. She’s q fucking loser.
As the cab drives down the road, she rests her head on the window glass and stares out, feeding her eyes with whatever she sets them on, while having tears in them. As much as she tries not to cry, so as not to attract attention, she still can’t help it. Will Eve ever forgive her for this mistake, even though she knows that it’s unforgivable? Will she ever accept her back even though she knows that she’s not worth it?
“Are you OK?” The cabby’s voice pulls her attention, and she quickly wipes her tears, nodding her head afterward. She finally gives him the address of where she’s going.
After a few minutes of driving, the car pulls over in front of Raymond’s apartment, and she hops out of the car. She pays the man for his service, turning to the big iron gate afterward. Staring at the building in front of her, she can only contemplate whether to go in or turn back from here, but on second thought, she knows she has to go in, considering that she has nowhere else to go.
Taking a deep breath, she walks toward the gate and pushes it open since it’s not locked. She walks into the compound, and Raymond’s favorite car is not parked there, which only means that he’s not around.
She drags her bag behind her as she heads to the entrance door, and rings the doorbell. The door opens minutes later, revealing a young lady, whom she assumes to be Raymond’s maid, due to the way she’s dressed.
“Good morning, miss. Is Raymond in?” She asks the lady, who stares at her for a few seconds with confusion written on her face before she slowly shakes her head.
“May I ask who you are, ma’am?” The maid asks inquisitively, and she bites her bottom lip. How the hell is she supposed to introduce herself now? She can’t possibly say she’s his girlfriend, right? What if this lady only knows Eve as his girlfriend?
“Uhm, I’m Raymond’s friend,” She smiles nervously at the maid, praying silently that she lets her into the house already. Her legs are so tired that she may fall down anytime soon if she doesn’t find somewhere to sit.
“Is he aware you’re coming here?” The maid asks, and she shakes her head.
“No, he’s not. I was stranded and had nowhere to go, so since he’s around the area, I thought of coming here,” She tries not to stutter, and the maid slowly nods her head.
“Alright. Come in,” The maid finally leaves the door wide open for her, and she walks in with a smile on her face.
Stepping into the familiar living room, she throws herself tiredly on the couch, releasing a deep sigh. Now, she kinda feels relieved.
“What should I get for you, ma’am?” The maid asks, and she shrugs.
“Anything will be fine,” She says to her, before she walks away, probably to get her something to eat or drink.
Returning with a glass of water a few minutes later, the maid hands it over to her. Just what she fucking needs right now. A glass of chilled water.
She gulps down the content of the glass, feeling much better.Material © of NôvelDrama.Org.
“Thank you,” She says to the maid before she walks away with the glass.
Reclining on the couch, and staring up at the ceiling, a lot of thoughts flood her mind, and she slowly clenches her fist as her heart wrenches in pain. She feels less of a human, but a monster and a bitch. Eve never deserved any of the things she did to her, and it’s only right she threw her out of the house. Of course, she would’ve done the same if anyone ever hurt her in this manner.
Pushing all the thoughts to the back of her mind, she stands up to her feet and calls the maid’s attention.
“Yes, ma’am. How may I be of help?” The maid asks as soon as she arrives in the living room.
“Uhm… I would like to shower,” She says to her, and she quickly nods her head.
“I’ll take you to the guestroom,” The maid replies to her, taking her suitcase so she can help her take it to the room. They both walk toward the staircase afterward.
“Everything you need is there,” the maid says to her when they enter a large beautiful room with a king-sized bed in the middle.
“Thank you,” She says to the maid before she walks away, leaving her to sort herself out.
After she has bathed, she throws herself on the bed to have a nap. She’s so damn exhausted like someone that has been walking around all day.
The sound of the door barging open pulls her out of her deep sleep, and she snaps her eyes open to see a blurry figure towering over her.
Her vision suddenly becomes clear, and seeing the angry look on Raymond’s face, she quickly sits up on the bed. Glancing at the wall clock, realization dawns on her that she has slept for hours, and it’s 6pm already.
“Raymond…”
“What the hell are you doing in my house?” He snaps at her, and she gulps down nothing nervously, sitting up on the bed…
