Pursuing My Ex Wife in Full Blooming Spring

Chapter 18

Charles waited in his car for Naomi to reply all this while as he did not want to be driving when Naomi messaged him. He waited for Naomi for almost half an hour now, but he did not mind this at all. The moment Naomi’s message came through, he dialed her number.

He froze momentarily when he registered what Naomi’s soft voice was telling him.

She was inviting him to her house?

Liking someone meant that you would do anything to be by her side, and so it was natural for Charles to look forward to meeting Naomi’s parents, but he never thought this day would come so soon. He could not help but feel a little taken aback by this. Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

Charles fell silent upon hearing this, and his silence suddenly made Naomi realize how awkward of a situation she put him in. After all, not everyone was like Amella, who frequented Naomi’s house so often as though it were her own.

Naomi could not help adding, “Sorry, Charles. I didn’t realize how abrupt this invitation would be. I don’t mean to come off so callous.”

“No, it’s fine. I just never thought about breakfast tomorrow. I completely forgot about it until you reminded me. It’s a perfect idea. We can leave at 7:30 am. from your place tomorrow instead.”

Naomi felt as though a weight was lifted off her shoulders. “Good. I’ll see you tomorrow then. Have a good rest and text me when you’re near tomorrow so I can get ready to bring you up.

“Okay.”

Naomi hung up and did some mental calculations in her head about Charles’s estimated time of arrival. Then, she went out to the living room to notify her parents that Charles would be joining breakfast.

Dean and Donna were absolutely over the moon when they heard this. Immediately they bombarded Naomi with a series of questions about Charles’s palate so they could prepare the foods that he liked.

Naomi forgot to ask Charles this, so she had no choice but to text Charles again about this.

As soon as he got off the call with Naomi, Charles sat dazedly in the driver’s seat of his car, thumping inside his chest.

his heart

He had to prepare a gift for Naomi’s parents, considering it would be his first time meeting them, and he wanted to leave a good impression.

However, he had no experience of meeting a girl’s parents for the first time and thus did not know what would be an appropriate gift.

The only person he could think of who would be able to help him was Sean, so he dialed Sean’s

number.

“Hello?” the sound of loud music and obnoxious singing rang out from the other end of the line. It was a no–brainer where Sean was at.

“Hey, what did you get for Amelia’s parents when you first met her?” Charles asked.

“Huh?” the music at the bar that Sean was at was so deafeningly loud that he could not hear Charles’s question at all

Charles repeated himself, “I said, what did you get-

“Hold that thought. Let me find someplace where I can hear you.”

A few moments later, the blaring music dissipated, and Charles could finally hear himself again

Sean’s voice rang out loud and clear, “Repeat what you just said. I can finally hear you now.”

Charles repeated himself once more.

Sean was in the middle of lighting himself a cigarette, and his jaw dropped when he registered Charles’s question, causing his unlit cigarette to fall to the ground. “What the hell? You’re meeting her parents tomorrow?”

Sean was exasperated by this, but at the same time, he could not stop smiling.

“Hey, spill the beans! What happened? Didn’t you guys reunite just a few days ago? How did things get so serious so fast? Are you going to get married soon? What’s your secret, man? Teach me so I can win Amelia’s heart too!” Judging from the excitement in Sean’s voice, Charles knew he got ahead of himself, and it was up to him to stop it.

Charles gazed out his window, staring at the dim glow from the school building, and replied, “No, it’s just that – ”

He explained everything to Sean, and the moment he finished his sentence, Sean exclaimed, “Well done, brother! God’s working on your side this time! I can’t believe it–your future father and mother -

in–law want to meet you! I guarantee that if you perform well, it’s only a matter of time before you win Naomi’s heart!”

Charles knew deep down that Sean was right. Naomi would never voluntatily invite him for breakfast

without her parents encouraging h

Why was her parents so eager to meet him?

One did not have to be a rocket scientist to figure this out.

This meant that Naomi’s parents were probably going to watch him like a hawk and evaluate him, so he had to be at his best.

Charles glanced at his watch. “It’s 6:47 pm. now, and I’ve only eleven hours before I’ll be meeting Naomi’s parents. I have to get my hands on a gift within this time frame. Do you have any ideas?”

Sean perked up. “I have plenty of ideas! Listen carefully, Charles!”

On the other hand, Naomi waited patiently for Charles to reply, but his response did not come. Perhaps he was busy with something else.

As she waited, however, a video call from Amelia popped up on her screen.
