Chapter 25
Anderson replied, "Would you like to come visit? How about I bring you here next time?"
"I'd love to," Mayra responded.
As the voice on the other end gradually faded, Anderson's gaze dimmed slightly. He asked, "Do you really wish for me to get married, Mayra?"
However, Anderson never got a response. Instead, all he heard was her gentle and even-paced breathing. Had she fallen asleep?
Anderson didn't hang up the phone. He finished his wine and placed his phone on his bedside table. Suddenly, he heard a soft murmur from the phone.
"Gordan, how dare you ignore me. From now on, I won't bother about you anymore. Andy, when will you be back? I miss you."
…
Mayra slept soundly until the next morning. If it wasn't for the dog barking outside, she might've slept even longer. Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.
Glancing at the clock on the wall, she noticed that it was nearly 6:30 a.m. She hurriedly got out of bed and washed up. When she reached for her phone, she noticed that it was completely flat.
Mayra grabbed her school bag and hurried downstairs. She rushed to the bus stop, barely making it in time.
The streets were relatively empty at this hour. With just a few seconds to spare, Mayra made it just in time for class.
Just as the school administrator was about to close the school gates, Gordon was the one who stopped them. Being late to school would result in a penalty.
"Why are you so late today?" Mayra strode right past him, ignoring his question. Gordon casually followed her.
Suddenly, Mayra stopped in her tracks and said, "Gordan, thank you for helping me with my studies for the past few days, but I think I won't need your help anymore. I'll treat you to a meal this weekend when I'm free. I'll be heading off to class now."
With that, she hurriedly rushed off to class, making it just in time.
Emily had her head resting on the desk and looked thoroughly exhausted. When she turned her head and saw that it was Mayra, she immediately turned away.
Mayra noticed Emily's gesture but she didn't think much about it. Throughout the morning, Emily, who was often very chatty, remained unusually quiet. In fact, she practically slept through the entire morning.
By the time Emily finally woke up, it was already lunchtime. But to her surprise, Mayra was still seated beside her. She asked, "Aren't you going to the library to study with Gordan today?
"Oh right, Mayra! I checked with Gordan about tutoring me but he mentioned that you never brought this matter up to him. Could you… explain why you didn't tell him?"
Mayra got up from her seat, preparing to head to the cafeteria. She replied, "My tutoring sessions with Gordan have ended. As for your tutoring sessions, I think it's best if you tell him yourself. Gordon and I… aren't that close."
With that, Mayra left the classroom. Emily pursed her lips, contemplating whether she should speak up. However, just as she glanced out the window, she noticed that Gordan was following behind
Mayra.
Emily called out, "Gordan, I have something to talk to you about!"
