Shattered Vows Shining Comeback

Chapter 17

Chapter 17 Welcome Party

“It’s just a business alliance. Getting married is fine as long as you two promise to stay out of each other’s lives,” Jake said truthfully.

“You’re too profit–oriented, but I’m not the same! My perfect wife should be a drop–dead gorgeous bombshell! You know, the type that makes me tall in love at first sight!

“She has to have impeccable beauty, unmatchable intellect, and an irresistible charm! That sort of woman is my cup of

tea!”

Theodore waved his hand afterward. “You’re not me, so you don’t understand what I want.”

Having heard Theodore’s words, Jake decided to drop that topic. Instead, he brought up the medical expo

“Can you resolve this matter for me?”

o once again.

Theodore patted himself on the chest confidently. “Quinn Group and Savant Group are the ones hosting this expo together. If I call Henry, he’ll definitely let this matter slide out of respect toward me.”

After that, he dialed Henry’s number. It continued to ring for more than ten seconds, yet no one answered the call. Theodore refused to believe that Henry would be this rude, so he tried calling him again. But this time, Henry hung up on him right away. It was clear that he didn’t want to discuss the matter with Theodore.

A variety of emotions flickered across Theodore’s face. He felt extremely humiliated at the moment.

It was rare for Jake to ask him for help. He had agreed to help Jake out so confidently, only for Henry to spit in his face.

Theodore rubbed his nose, feeling quite awkward, “Maybe he’s busy right now. Let me throw you a welcome party.

We’ll talk about it later.”

Jake followed Theodore out of the office. He knew that Theodore most likely failed.

The success rate of Theodore resolving this matter was extremely low. It seemed that Jake would have to find a way to convince Gwen to help him out

Meanwhile, Henry was seated on an Ivatician leather couch in a luxurious boutique that was geared toward designing gowns for VIPs. He looked like a cold and aloof nobleman.

After declining the call, he looked at Gwen, who was having her measurements taken by a designer. “Jake is now in Dornwick. He had Theodore Quinn help him out by speaking with me on his behalf.” This is the property of Nô-velDrama.Org.

As Henry spoke, he paid attention to Gwen’s expression the whole time. The truth was, he was worried that Gwen might not have given up on Jake just yet.

But Gwen remained impassive. She turned around so that the designer could start taking the measurements of her waistline.

“Henry, just leave this matter to me.” With that, she looked at herself in the mirror.

Now, Gwen looked beautiful and radiant as before. Her eyes sparkled animatedly, and she held herself with utmost confidence. She was completely different from the wretched version of her back in Hall Group.

This was the real her–radiant and attractive. She didn’t need any man in her life, that was for sure.

“Babe, I missed you so much!”

A cheerful figure lunged at Gwen at that moment. She enveloped Gwen in a bear hug and stayed there for quite some time.

When Gwen heard the voice, she recognized it immediately. It was her best friend, Yara Jefferson. This made her tear up immediately.

She choked out, “Me too!”

Yara released Gwen afterward. “You bastard! How dare you cut all contact with me over the past three years! I only found out about your divorce from Ryan, you know! Am I even your best friend at this point?”

Gwen could feel tears welling up in her eyes. “You’ll always be my best friend. It’s just that… I feel so ashamed.”

A pause later, she continued, “Back then, you kept advising me because you cared about me. Not only did I fail to

you were doing this for my own good, but I also ended up fighting with you. Seeing as I got divorced in the end Let’s just say I’m too ashamed to see you.”

realize

In the past, Gwen chose to join the Hall family as their daughter–in–law and made the brash decision to give up on her boutique business just so she could become Jake’s secretary at Hall Group.

Yara had tried to talk some sense into Gwen, saying that Jake wasn’t a good match for her and that she should aim higher.

But Gwen was completely blinded by love back then. She decided to shut down the boutique that she and Yara had established together without taking Yara’s opinion into account.

Realizing that their shared dream was shattered thanks to her best friend’s brashness, the enraged Yara decided to fly to Fernwald instead. Since then, both of them had never contacted each other.

Yara took Gwen’s hand, her expression now warped into one of anger. “Jake should be the one who’s ashamed! He’s a fucking idiot!

“Babe, now that you’re back, I won’t let anyone else bully you from now on! I’ll kill those who have the guts to bully you!

Tears streamed down Gwen’s cheeks at that moment. Then, she and Yara smiled at each other.

“Don’t cry, babe!” Yara grabbed a tissue and wiped Gwen’s tears away for her thoughtfully. “I’ve already arranged for a welcome home party for you tonight! Let’s celebrate the fact that you’ve dumped that bastard and that you’re making an epic comeback!”

“Alright!”

Gwen looked at Henry, who had been waiting patiently for her to cry her feelings out. Then, she tightened her grip on

Yara’s hand.

She really felt that she was a fool in the past. To think that she was willing to give up on the people who loved her for the sake of a heartless man.

Her friends and family were definitely a lot more precious than a loveless marriage
