Chapter 23 The Beauty Catches Every Eye

The auction staff moved quickly. During the short break between items, they brought the emerald bracelet over to Sienna and waited for her to issue a check.

Given that her company’s name had been registered at the auction, defaulting on the payment would result in the auction house pressing charges against her company.

With trembling hands, Sienna reluctantly signed the check.

A few rows behind them, Theodore Quinn leaned back, his charming eyes twinkling with amusement. “What a lucky day, stumbling upon someone so gullible.”

The bracelet was worth no more than 300 thousand at best. He had once been conned by a jewelry dealer into

overpaying by an extra 200 thousand when he bought it for his mom, only for her to scoff at the gift. That was why he had decided to auction it off today.

However…

His gaze drifted to the stunning woman who had driven the price up during the bidding war. They said beauty caught every eye. And this woman? She had definitely piqued his interest.

“I feel like I’ve seen her before… Who is she?” Theodore asked the executive of HB Group seated beside him.

“I heard that her name’s Gwen.

“Gwen?”

Theodore repeated while the memory of the young, pimply fourth daughter of the Lawson family flashed in his mind.. He shuddered at the thought.

No way… It couldn’t be!

He rubbed his eyes and looked again at Gwen’s stunning side profile. There was no doubt in his mind.

“They’re definitely not the same person. They just have the same name.”

The next auction item was brought to the stage.

“This is an antique foreign pocket watch. The starting bid is five million.”

This was the item Henry had specifically asked Gwen to win, so she raised her paddle. “6 million.”

“6 and a half million.”

With Sienna no longer trying to outbid her, the auction proceeded smoothly, and Gwen secured the watch for 7 million.

Sienna was fuming, her emotions a tangled mix of resentment and frustration. She didn’t dare challenge Gwen again, worried that she might pull the same trick. Sienna was, after all, running low on funds.

Nevertheless, her voice remained soft and sweet. “Jake, I must say, Ms. Lawson has really changed.

“When she left the Hall family, she didn’t take a cent. Now look at her, casually bidding seven million on a pocket watch without batting an eye.”

As she spoke, she glanced at Jake, studying his reaction. “And now she’s the executive assistant of Savant Group. That’s a high–ranking position–she probably has shares in the company too.

“They say Mr. Lawson trusts her with all the major projects, giving her full control. Just like how you used to rely on her back in the day…”

Jake’s face darkened at her words, a flicker of anger crossing his features. Just like back in the day? Was this woman planning to become Henry’s wife too?

Before Sienna could continue, Jake cut her off sharply. “Is there anything else you want to see? If not, let’s go.” Têxt © NôvelDrama.Org.

Sensing his rising anger, Sienna quickly backtracked, feigning innocence. “I’m sorry, Jake. I didn’t mean to upset you.

“Don’t worry about it. Let’s go.

Since Savant Group was a major shareholder in Jeopard’s auction house, Gwen didn’t need to make a payment on the spot. Instead, she was escorted to a VVIP room to finalize the paperwork for her purchase.

After signing the confirmation paper, the staff left the room, placing the pocket watch in a box before giving her some privacy.

  1. “What

As she was putting the watch away, the door swung open, and Jake stepped in. She asked him with a cold tone, are you doing here?”

Jake stood by the door, his gaze intense, as if trying to read her mind. His voice carried a note of accusation as he asked, “What exactly is your relationship with Henry?”

He had told Sienna to wait in the car, using the excuse of needing the restroom just so he could confront Gwen here and hear the truth directly from her.
