Tasting The Enemy

Chapter 10

Elaine POV

“Well, isn’t it Claw High’s newest slut,” Quin said as I approached our table with my lunch.

“What?” I asked.

Helen flipped her ginger hair over her shoulder and giggled. “Too late to form a reputation, Elaine.”

My eyes shot to Blazer who watched and listened silently. Blazer didn’t know about the party and I wanted it to stay that way so I sat down and didn’t take the bait Quin tossed.

“What? You don’t want to talk about your night with Dominik?” Jenifer giggled.

“You did what?” Blazer yelled.

The others burst into laughter. Heat rushed to my face as I struggled to concentrate on my food.

“Didn’t your little sister, let you in on all the juicy details?” Quin purred.Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.

Why was she doing this? It wasn’t funny.

“Stop,” I told her but she rolled her eyes.

“I’m only saying what everyone’s talking about,” she responded.

“But it isn’t true.”

“But you and Dominik disappeared from the party at the same time. That means you fucked, right?” Jenifer said and tilted her head to the side.

“Of course not! I left with someone else and I didn’t sleep with anyone either.”

Quin sighed. “Of course, no one’s ever good enough for the precious Alpha’s daughter. Not even Alpha Neel. What do the rest of us have to do to get a man like that?”

I trembled from all the suppressed rage. I left the party with someone. A guy I shouldn’t have left with and when people find out they’d call me a traitor.

I felt Blazer’s large frame behind me. He grabbed my arm and stopped me from stabbing my pork chop.

“Let’s go,” he ordered.

He dragged me from the cafeteria. Everyone watched and the girls on my table laughed.

I heard Helen whisper, “She’s going to get it now.”

I yanked my arm free when we got to the bathroom area.

“I didn’t sleep with anyone!”

“You didn’t come home that night. Where were you?” He demanded.

“I was with… Opal. I didn’t stay long.”

Blazer eyed me up and down. I’d rather deal with Blazer than Nik. Nik thought he was high and mighty. Never question him just do as he says but slowly Nik was grooming Blazer to be a second version of him.

“I’m your sister you should trust me.”

“I know but I also know you want out of the arrangement with Neel and you know that’s not going to happen. Why not suck it up and go along with things? Don’t you want the Blood Moon pack out of the picture too?”

I bit my bottom lip. My hatred didn’t run as deep as theirs. After finding out who my fated mate was my emotions were conflicted. Thinking about seeing him in a few days at the ball made my heart skip a deep.

“Have you forgotten the attack that killed all those omegas? You were in that house Elaine.”

“I know…” I said through clenched teeth.

“So do your part. No one’s asking you to fall in love with the guy.”

Instead, they’re asking me to give up my freedom to a controlling, entitled and disgusting man. I kept my mouth shut. Blazer sighed in frustration and walked away at least he wasn’t pushing the party issue anymore.

***

The night of the one-hundred-day ball I was in my room adding pink blush to my cheeks as the men got ready downstairs. That was when a heavy hand massaged my shoulder while the other one traced my bottom lip.

“You’re going to ruin my lipstick,” I mumbled.

I heard him come in but I thought I could ignore him.

“I can’t wait to have you, Elaine. I want your virgin pussy squeezing my cock.”

My blood turned to ice.

He wrapped his hand around my neck tilted my head up to face me. He groaned with sick pleasure.

“We don’t have to go to this stupid ball. You and I can stay behind. Your Father won’t mind.”

He brought his lips to my ear. I jumped off the stool and shuffled to the window.

“We’re invited guests…” I said breathlessly. I wouldn’t be able to escape him if I was left alone with him. “We can’t be rude.”

His frown turned into a smile. He closed the short distance and cupped my cheeks.

“You’re right. You’re going to be a great Luna. I’ll make sure everyone knows at the fucking Blood Moon Pack that I have the sexiest mate in all the packs.”

I bet he doesn’t think that when he’s fucking other women, but I smiled. I needed to give him treats sometimes.

“I’ll see you downstairs.”

My brothers were neatly dressed in full suits. I was surprised Blazer wore a tie. Avena was dressed in a purple gown that looked like it weighed a ton of bricks.

“Does your dress have to be that short?” Nik frowned at Opal’s black body-hugging dress.

“What do you care? I’m single.”

“Hey, we’re going to Blood Moon territory. Any wolf there is off-limits to you,” Nik barked

Opal rolled her eyes. “They invited wolves from other packs. I’m not hopeless. Come on, Elaine.”

I scurried after Elaine.

“What was that about?” I asked.

“Nik’s controlling. If I let him he’ll walk all over me.” Opal started the car.

There was a time I thought Opal had a crush on Nik but he never looked at her that way. He only dated cheerleaders and influencers. Nik would totally fuck someone like Quin. She would be at the party tonight and she would want to make her presence known. I hadn’t spoken to her since the incident at the table.

Quin made cruel jokes but it felt personal that time and her friends knew it. Confronting her would be useless she had a defence for everything.

“Opal, do you think I let people walk all over me?”

Opal tightened her grip on the wheel.

“I do…. And when you try to voice out they don’t like it because they’re losing control. If you let Neel, he’ll walk all over you.”

“He wants to do more than that.”

“Find your fight girl. You don’t have to put up with those guys.”

Only Opal didn’t know about my curse but she was right. My Dad and brothers had a leash around my neck. Without their venom to help me through full moons I might die but the full moon came and my wolf was active without any pain. It was weird but still, I needed a cure, I didn’t know how long I could go until my wolf acted up again.

We arrived at Shaw Castle. A huge gothic building with stone statues baring down on the invited guests. The castle was made of black stone, it had two imposing towers. The front yard was filled with expensive cars. Only the highest-ranked members were invited.

“I don’t know about you, but I’m getting laid tonight,” Opal said as she climbed out of the car.

I followed. I stopped to fix my dress. I chose a red dress with a long train and an open back. My hair hid my back but the sweetheart neckline elevated my breasts. I turned because I felt eyes on me.

I found him staring at me. Dressed in a black suit with no jacket, his hair combed back and his eyes twinkling in the darkness. What was he doing out here when the party was in there? The corner of my lip raised.

I was about to weave when a woman in a long black dress with a slit on the right side slipped up to him and whispered in his ear.

I turned away quickly.

Azaire was nearly ten years older than me. I shouldn’t have assumed he was single. I carried my dress inside and tried to calm myself but my wolf burned with rage, confusion and a bit of jealousy. She didn’t like another she-wolf with her hands on our mate.
