CHAPTER SEVENTEEN
When we finally went back to the party, the party was already winding down. The guests were leaving.
I turned to Lincoln and smiled.
“I’d never thought I’d be saying this to you, but thanks. Actually, I had fun with you.” He tilted his head to the side in shock.
“Really? You did?” He said, not believing his own ears.
I smiled at him widely. “Really. So I guess it’s goodbye now?”
He nodded and went to walk outside. Leaving me standing and looking around.
I then walked away and entered the mansion. I bumped into someone and when I looked up, I saw Mira and Tiff. They looked at me with their eyes widening.
“Oh, hi.” I greeted them awkwardly. I don’t know, I just suddenly felt a little awkward.
“Raszhiel, where have you been? Tiff yelled, her eyes grew even wider with false worry. “Cayne was looking everywhere for you.”
“Oh,” I responded, thinking about how pissed Cayne would be after he got over the euphoric fact that I am safe.
I frowned. Maybe he’s fuming mad right now. “I should probably go find him now then. And apologized for making him worry too much.”
“You better do that girl. Earlier when he found out that you were not at the party, my god! I think he wanted to kill Anica already. Thank goodness you’re safe.” Mira said.
We heard scoffing from behind. When we turned our gaze to that person, it was Anica. Wearing a black long dress that fits her body. Dressed as a witch. I must admit, she looks so hot. But still, she’s a witch.
She’s glaring at me like she wanted to burn and eat me alive. She then scoffed again in disgust and walked off.
That evil bitch!
“Don’t mind that witchy bitchy. She can’t hurt you here. Not on our watch.” Tiff said.
“Thanks guys.” I responded and they both nodded.
I forced a smile and nodded also, turned around and stepped inside the house.
I was instantly greeted by Layla’s fucking loud mouth.
“You bitchy itchy! I thought you were fucking dead,” she yelled looking pissed. Shain was also yelling at me. My earlobes are gonna get broken if they don’t stop now.
“All right guys, let’s relax now, okay?” Nicholas said soothingly.
“Nicholas is right.” Cayne said, suddenly stepping into the room.
His custom was rumpled and his hair was disheveled. But he still managed to look stunningly handsome even though he looked like he’d been through hell.
“Can everyone please leave? I’d like to talk to Raszhiel,” he looked at me intently. “Alone.”
I was about to get my ass handed to me. Everyone else seemed to sense that as well.
Julio and Monique, Cayne’s parents, headed upstairs. Layla, Mira, Tiff, Shain and Nicholas bidded their goodbye’s and headed home.
I walked towards the sofa, keeping my back to him. I put down the gold and diamond encrusted headpiece. All rights © NôvelDrama.Org.
I kept my back to him for a long time, too afraid to face his anger. I could see his blue eyes burning into me.
And finally m, I’d had enough of silence.
“Just say something,” I said, turning myself to him.
“What do you want me to say?” He asked in a low voice, his voice was surprisingly calm.
“I don’t know. Yell at me, scream at me. Do something.” Cayne walked towards me until his shoes were flush into my sandals.
I swallowed hard, my heart was pounding as he reached out to touch my cheek. His hand was warm and gentle. His fingers gently stroked my cheek as he looked at me in the eyes for what seemed like an eternity. And suddenly, I was in his arms and he was holding me dangerously close.
I knew he could feel every frantic beat my heart made. How could he not? Every line of my body was pressed against his.
“I was so worried about you,” he said softly in my ears.
I gave an involuntary shiver and he chuckled, his breath tickling my ears.
He pulled away and cupped both of my cheeks in his powerful yet gentle hands.
“I’m so glad that you’re fine. Did he hurt you?” He asked, checking me out.
“No, he didn’t. I’m fine. He was actually…. so nice to me.” He nodded, his lips pulling into a thin line.
“Of course you’re fine. I’m glad to hear that he didn’t do a thing to you. Even though I know that he wouldn’t really do such a thing, but, I just wanted to make sure,” he murmured to himself.
I looked at him and the realization dawned on me that Cayne knew about Agatha.
Before I could ask though, he smiled gently.
“You must be tired,” he said softly and quietly. “Go get some rest.”
And then his soft, warm lips touch my cheek.
My heart was in my throat as I nodded and turned to go upstairs.

3rd Person POV
“I thought we already talked about this!” Anica yelled at Lincoln, her face twisted in rage. “You would’ve gotten what you wanted. You could’ve had her for the rest of your life. All you have to do is to take her and leave.” Her face was fuming mad, as if she’s ready to kill him at the very moment.
“But I wouldn’t really have her, would I? She would loathe me the entire time and I don’t want that to happen.” He looked at the brunette before him. “If you want Cayne, win him over with who you are as a person. If he doesn’t love you, then he doesn’t love you. And just move one and find someone better. Someone who deserves you and appreciates you the most.”
Anica’s lips curled back over her teeth in an animal-like snarl. And Lincoln knew that her heart was even more tainted than his. She was lost in a bigger, darker part of herself.
“Since you won’t take care of her, I’ll find someone who will.” And she stormed out.
