Chapter 202 The Night of Drugging
It was the same evening, and Emily made her way back to the Smith Mansion.
Abigail was still tied up with work, so Emily had to grab a cab on her own.
The Smith Mansion was pretty out of the way, so it took a few tries before she finally got a ride.
By the time she arrived, she was already feeling a bit worn out. Lexine was the one who answered the door.
Lexine looked surprised to see her. "Mrs. Smith? What brings you back?"
"Isn't today..." Lexine hesitated, clearly remembering the argument from earlier.
Emily figured Benjamin hadn't told anyone she was coming back tonight. She was about to be out of the Smith family anyway, so there wasn't much point in making a big deal out of it.
"I'm here to see Grandpa," Emily said, keeping her tone polite but distant.
Lexine looked puzzled. "Mrs. Smith, you came at a bad time. Mr. Mason Smith and Ms. Veda Smith went out for dinner. He was in a bad mood after what happened earlier, so Ms. Veda Smith took him out to cheer him up. But Benjamin's in the backyard, you can go find him."
Seeing Benjamin would work too. Maybe Mason had given him the item.
After the blow-up earlier, Mason was probably too mad to see her anyway.
"Alright, I'll head to the backyard. Thanks, Lexine," Emily said, her voice gentle and pleasant, making Lexine smile.
"No problem, Mrs. Smith!" Lexine replied.
A little while later, there was another knock at the door.
Lexine opened it again to find Michael standing there.
First Emily, now Michael... what was going on? Were they here to sign the divorce papers?
Lexine was curious, but Michael spoke up. "What, Lexine, don't you recognize me?"
"Mr. Smith, of course, I recognize you. Please, come in!" Lexine quickly stepped aside to let him in.
Michael headed straight upstairs to Mason's room, expecting to find him there.
He figured Mason would either yell at him or hit him. Whatever it was, he'd take it.
Just like the situation with Sophia's baby, even if it meant going through hell, he'd accept it.
But to his surprise, Mason wasn't there. Benjamin was.
Benjamin handed him a glass of water and said, "Mr. Michael Smith, you're back. Ms. Smith saw that Mr. Mason Smith was in a bad mood and took him out for dinner. It was a last-minute thing, don't worry. If you're tired, go rest in your room. Mr. Mason Smith said he'd talk to you later."
Michael didn't question Benjamin at all. He downed the glass of water in one go.
He'd been through the wringer all day and just wanted to crash for a bit. "I'll be in my room. Let me know when Grandpa gets back."
With that, he handed the empty glass back to Benjamin and left the study without a second glance.
Benjamin took a deep breath and clenched the empty glass tightly.
Now, all he could do was let things play out and wait.
No matter who blamed him later-Michael, Emily, or Mason—he'd take the heat.
After all, he did this for the future of the entire Smith family!
When Michael pushed open the door and walked into the room, he was still wide awake.

Hearing the door, Emily paused mid-change and turned, startled. "What are you doing here?"
Michael shot back, "I should be asking you that, Emily. What are you doing here?"
Emily replied, "Grandpa asked me to come."
Michael asked, "Grandpa asked you to come too?"
Their eyes met, and they realized Mason had called both of them.
Emily quickly finished changing. Though she was fast, it wasn't faster than the eye could see.
With just one glance, Michael noticed how well-maintained Emily's body was full chest, slender waist, like sunlight dancing on water, exuding a gentle allure.
"Can't you step out for a bit? I need to tidy up, and it's awkward with you here," Emily gritted her teeth and asked Michael.
But Michael was too tired to care. He saw the bed and wanted to lie down, saw a pillar and wanted to lean on it, not caring what Emily wanted. "You can tidy up, I won't get in your way." With that, Michael flopped onto the bed.
Emily was at a loss and could only gather her clothes, planning to tidy up after Michael left.
Just as she was about to leave the room in frustration, she suddenly felt a heat in her head and a strong dizziness.
Trying to force herself out of the bedroom, a sudden surge of unknown strength made Emily stumble and fall onto the bed, right next to Michael.
Their faces were close, eyes met, and breaths intertwined.
A subtle sense of ambiguity seemed to ferment along their gaze.
"Emily, what are you doing?" Michael also suddenly felt a strong heat all over his body, as if an electric current was passing between him and Emily, conveying some unspoken emotion.
"I didn't do anything, I... my head hurts." At this moment, Emily felt something was wrong between her and Michael.
The feeling was strange but familiar.
They were drugged!
Yes, when Michael was drugged before, he felt hot all over, dizzy, and lightheaded.novelbin
But what puzzled Emily was, they were in the Smith Mansion, Mason's territory. Who drugged them, and why now?
Michael asked, "Emily, do you really want to divorce me?"
Emily glanced at Michael and saw that his drug was stronger than hers.
His face was already flushed, and his hot breath was spraying on her neck.
Emily retorted, "Michael, didn't we already agree?"
Seeing this, Emily became a bit flustered, her body stiffened, and her heart beat faster, a kind of panic and nervousness caught by Michael's gaze.
Michael said, "But we can always change our minds."
Michael's words left Emily baffled.
Saying that was not only irresponsible to Sophia and the child but also disrespectful to herself.
She was angry and speechless, trying to get up from the bed with the last bit of strength, but was caught off guard and pressed back onto the bed by Michael's strong force.
