Chapter 761
Charles shook his head. "I'm not sure yet. I'm just throwing around some guesses.
A lot of things would start to make sense if Sebastian was connected to the Jones family from Cascade City. Sebastian definitely had some secrets, including why Jade was taking care of Noelle. If Noelle was not her kid, Jade had to have a reason. She probably wanted something from Sebastian. That meant Noelle had to be someone important to Sebastian.
In other words, even if Noelle was not Jade's daughter, she was still somehow connected to Jade. Thus, the next step had to be finding out more about Sebastian.
"Man, Noelle's backstory is like a rollercoaster." Sean had not seen that coming. He added, "If Noelle is really connected to the Jones family from Cascade City, tying the knot with her might just get a whole lot simpler for you."
Charles shot Sean a quick look. "She doesn't need to be a Jones to hold her ground with the Hoffmans. My girl doesn't need to lean on anyone." Sean arched an eyebrow, his voice tinged with annoyance. "Okay, okay, I get it. You're tough, and your lady's tough too. Do you really have to rub it in my face when I'm still single, especially right before New Year's?" He rolled his eyes, but then his tone shifted to concern. "But seriously, with you sneaking out today, isn't the Hoffman house going to turn upside down?"
Charles's frown deepened as he toyed with his cigarette. After a long pause, he asked, "Is there a drug that can scramble someone's brain in an instant?"
Sean blinked, taken aback, and the cigarette burned down to his fingers before he noticed. "Ouch!" He shook his hand, surprised by the pain, then looked at Charles with wide eyes. "You're not kidding?"
"Do I look like I'm joking?" Charles's
voice was lowa and serious. "This has gone on for long enough. It's time for the Bakers to step up." He sighed when he thought about Noelle. want her to join the Hoffmans officially, without any mess or trouble from my end." Material © of NôvelDrama.Org.
For once, Sean was quiet. "Charles, you've really changed. I used to think you were just into Noelle for her looks, but..."
Charles's gaze was icy as he interrupted. "I've always known what I wanted. It's always been her and only her." With a final pinch, he flicked the cigarette into the trash.
He rose to his feet, towering over Sean with an air of authority. "Give the meds to Ronald. He'll know exactly what to do with them."

Charles's words hung in the air, leaving behind a chilling and determined shadow as he walked, away. Sean stood there, dazed, for what felt like an eternity before he finally nodded to no one in particular and muttered, "Alright."
Sean had never seen this side of Charles before. Despite their years of friendship this intensity from Charles was something new. Even when Kelly had pleaded with him,
Charles had remained cool and met
detached, ultimately deciding to send her abroad himself. It was more like exile than a trip since she could not come home unless he allowed it—a punishment that was
surely the last straw for Kelly.
It did not matter that Kelly was connected to the influential Anderson family of Capiton or that her brother was the formidable Grant. Charles had never shown her any leniency.
