The Cherished Wife

Chapter 787

Mateo nodded and helped Clarisse up from the floor, but her gaze remained fixed on Henry. Mateo frowned slightly but said nothing.

After somehow managing to subdue J, Henry led them all to the hospital in the middle of the night.

Sean had just finished an operation when he received a call from Mateo summoning him to the hospital.

Seeing Mateo's arm wrapped in bandages, Sean was surprised. "Mr. Mateo, what happened?" He rubbed his eyes, clearly exhausted from back-to- back surgeries. He did not expect to see the Hoffmans at the hospital during New Year's.

Sean narrowed his eyes. "Is Charles here too?"

Mateo shook his head. "No, he's not."

"Then, what brings you here?"

"Do you have any mental health specialists in your hospital?" Mateo sighed. "To be honest, this isn't much of a secret. You've known Charlie since you were kids, so you should be familiar with certain things."

Despite his exhaustion, Sean's eyes gleamed with curiosity. There was a faint smile playing on his lips. "I know quite a bit about Charles. What exactly are you referring to, Mr. Mateo?"

"J."

Sean understood immediately. "She's here at the hospital?"

Mateo briefly explained J's condition. "It's the festive season, and we can't go to a public hospital, especially since she injured someone. I had no choice but to bring her here. She's from the Bakers, after all. We have to maintain some semblance of dignity."

Sean nodded. "Understood, Mr. Mateo. Please wait a moment." He made a quick call to the hospital's psychiatric department and then asked Mateo again, "Are you the only one here?"

"No, Clarisse is here too. She's injured and resting in a ward."

At that moment, Henry arrived with some paperwork. "The admission process is complete, Mateo. What now?"

"You head back. I'll stay and handle things here," Mateo replied while taking the paperwork. He turned to Sean. "I hope you can keep this matter confidential."Content is © by NôvelDrama.Org.

Sean, who was still smiling, nodded. "Of course."

He greeted Henry with a grin, "Mr. Henry, I'lkarrange for a nurse to take you to the doctor to have J evaluated. But our hospital doesn't specialize in psychiatric care, so I suggest..."

"I'll transfer her elsewhere as soon as possible," Mateo agreed.

"Alright then," Sean said. "I've just finished a few surgeries. If I don't head home for dinner soon, my father won't let me hear the end of it!" he joked. "Mr. Henry, care to join me for a walk outside?"

Henry nodded. "Please, lead the way."

As Sean and Henry left, Mateo held onto the paperwork and followed a nurse to the ward where J was being held.

She had been sedated and was now

quiet without any signs of

aggression. However, it was hard to believe that just an hour earlier, she had attacked someone with a knife.

Mateo sighed deeply, turning to find Clarisse had also arrived at some point. Her face was pale, and she looked utterly exhausted. She Tacked the energy to even speak.

Her gaze flickered as she looked at Mateo. "Mateo, about today's incident-"

"It won't make the papers," Mateo interrupted her. "But you need to understand, J can't stay at the Hoffman residence any longer."

Clarisse suddenly let out a bitter laugh. "I suppose you've been waiting to do this for a while, haven't you?"

Mateo frowned. "Are you still holding onto hope? Don't you see what J has become?

"I don't understand what you're thinking. Even if you want to defy me and take control of Charlie's marriage, you could at least pick someone mentally stable!

"Look at J's condition! She's worse than her mother ever was. You remember how her mother caused chaos at the Bakers, don't you? And now, J's the same.

"Do you really think marrying her to Charlie will solve anything, or are you hoping for even more chaos?"
