The Cursed Wolf’s Love

Rare and Beautiful

After they finished their meals, Iris wondered where she would sleep. The chamber was large, so she could sleep even outside the bedchamber, in the living room. The only thing she needed was a thin blanket, and she would sleep on the floor.

When Adolphus asked her to follow him to the bedchamber, she refused. He turned to look at her and asked what was in her head.

Iris’ doe eyes tried to comprehend what he meant by that. Wasn’t he the one who was asking her to follow him to his bedchamber?

“Don’t you need a blanket? Come and take it from inside,” Adolphus said, and walked ahead. It seemed to her that she annoyed him. She lowered her head and silently followed him.

Adolphus looked into the cupboard and took out a blanket. “This will do for the night,” he stated, and closed the cupboard. He walked up to Iris and handed her the blanket.

“You can sleep on the sofa in the living room,” he told her. Iris thanked him, and his fingers brushed hers. Their eyes met once again, and for some reason, she was curious to know why his eyes were emerald green.

“Do you have to say something to me?” He inquired.

“Can I ask a question, Master Adolphus?” She humbly asked.

“Sure,” he gave her permission.

“Why are the eyes of the Master so different? They are exceptionally rare and beautiful,” she stated. No one ever said that Adolohua or anyone was interested in his eyes. Everyone was scared to meet his gaze because of the emerald green that he possessed.

“I have had them since my birth,” Adolphus answered.

“I believe Master Adolphus inherited such a pair of eyes because of his parents,” Iris said with a smile. Earlier in the day, she hadn’t dared look at them.

“No. They don’t have eyes like me. I am the only one with these coloured eyes for now. Maybe in the future, my kids will possess these types of eyes,” Adolphus said, and walked past her to go to bed.

“Oh.” Iris’s curiosity didn’t end there. “When will Master Adolphus get married? I heard that princes are supposed to marry early,” she said, and turned to look at him. Adolphus had removed the robe, and his silk white shirt was visible to her.

“I cannot marry until I find my mate,” Adolphus answered.

“Mate?!” Iris was unaware of that.

Adolphus unbuttoned his shirt and asked her if she was comfortable seeing him remove his shirt.

Iris widened her eyes and shook her head. “Forgive me, Master Adolphus. I will go to the living room and sleep. Thank you again for helping me,” she said, lowering her eyes.

“Aren’t you curious to know what’s mate?” Adolphus asked and loosened only the top three buttons on his shirt. He got into the bed and found Iris still had her head down. “You can look at me,” he stated.

Iris lifted her head, and she found he hadn’t removed his shirt.

“Come, sit here,” Adolphus asked, asking her to come to bed. “I won’t eat you,” he added. Iris gradually took steps towards him and sat near his feet while holding the blanket tightly.

“Have you ever gone out of your house?” Adolphus asked her.Copyright by Nôv/elDrama.Org.

Iris shook her head. “I wasn’t allowed to,” Iris replied. “My family thought that I might run away,” she stated.

“Hmm. So, you have no idea what a werewolf is!” Adolphus concluded.

“I know, Master. They are powerful. They have strong olfactory senses and they transform into big, giant werewolves,” Iris answered with a smile.

“Not all are powerful. We have three categories of werewolves: Alpha, Beta, and Omega. An alpha is the strongest one, who leads a pack. The Beta holds less power than the Alpha, but he mostly works for the Alpha of the pack. Omega is at the bottom of the list. They are usually powerless. There are rogue werewolves too, who usually roam alone and don’t want to be in a pack.”

Iris listened keenly to him while he explained her various attributes. He liked talking with her and, more than that, he liked her curiosity about the werewolves.

“Usually, werewolves get the scent of their mates when they reach this age of mating,” Adolphus said.

“Then, why can’t the Master get his mate’s scent?” She inquired with a puzzled look.

“When I was 15, I attempted to take a forbidden moon crystal from the witch. She cursed me,” Adolphus replied.

“Cursed you?” She shook her head. “Pardon, me,” she apologized immediately. “Then, how will the master find his mate?” She asked.

“I do not know,” Adolphus said, and took a deep breath.

“Maybe Master Adolphus’ mate will come to him,” Iris stated.

Adolphus laughed. It had been a long time since he laughed last. Iris wondered if she had said something hilarious and looked at him with inquisitiveness. His laughter stopped after a while, and he gazed into her eyes.

“Iris, I think your family did right by not sending you outside,” Adolphus said.

“Why?” She didn’t like his statement. She wanted to explore everything, but she could not leave her abusive family.

“Because you might have caught the attention of a man,” Adolphus proclaimed.

That statement stunned her and she stopped blinking.

“I would love to know more about you, Iris. You are an amusing woman,” Adolphus affirmed. “You shall go and sleep,” he told her.

Iris stood up, bowed, and left the bedchamber.

Adolphus smiled, puzzled as to why he was feeling so strongly attracted to this young lady. He lay down on the bed and pulled the duvet over himself. For an hour, he could not fall asleep. He got out of bed and went to the living room to check on Iris. A lamp was lit on the center table while Iris was lying on the sofa. She was in a deep sleep.

He watched her closely and once again felt attracted to her. He brushed her hair from her face and covered her with the blanket that was on the floor. “I wonder how you survived in that abusive family. Your wounds were deep. I will punish them for you,” he said, and walked back to the bedchamber.
