Whitney smiled. "Hehe. It's no big deal, really... I just have this broken window. Can you help?"

"Sure!"

Frank had nothing else to do, and they fixed the window in a little over ten minutes.

"Oh, you university students are really amazing," Whitney praised earnestly as she passed him an ice-cold soda. "Y'all can really do everything!" Frank took the soda, smiling but saying nothing.

Whitney then continued, "I've always said there has to be a man in the house, or a weak gal like me couldn't have fixed that window on my own!"

Frank was at once terrified, putting down the soda and excusing himself to the bathroom.

Whitney was such a cougar that he was almost eaten alive!

Soon, he decided it was long enough, and Frank unblocked that number from earlier.

Pretending not to know who he was calling, he asked, "Can I take a loan from you?"

The person on the other end naturally knew that Frank had called before but decided to play along just to be cooperative. "Yes, our interest rate is only 25% per annum. Would that be acceptable?"

"How soon can I get the money?" Frank pressed.

"Very soon, sir. You will get it within twenty-four hours."

"Alright. Tell me what I need to do."

After adding that number into his contact list, Frank soon received a reply with an image attached.

It was an infographic instructing Frank to download a smartphone app and how to apply for a loan with it.

Whitney was shocked when she leaned in and saw the app on Frank's phone. "Isn't that a normal online loan request? It's even legal!"

He had never seen the app before, but it seemed legitimate.

Moreover, just like Whitney, Frank was using the latest phone model, where illegal apps could not be installed.

"What an elaborate scheme!" Frank chuckled.

Before he came, he had asked Whitney to make a fake profile that was highly visible online.

And using that profile, he filled in the form for a loan and passed the brief assessment.

Tapping into the app's briefing section, it turned out that he could take a loan as high as three hundred grand.

On top of that, the interest rate was only 20%, which was lower than what the person on the phone had told him! "That's just so weird!"

While Whitney was left confused by how the whole thing worked, Frank tried to apply for a loan, but he was told that he failed the assessment! "What?" Whitney was left bemused. "You're a university graduate, so you wouldn't have other debts. Why can't you take up a loan?"

Frank chuckled and tapped on the cart.

There was a credit reload option, with various amounts of gift cards available.

Whitney understood now. "So they're using the gift card option, with yearly interests skyrocketing as they exploit a gray area. They can't even be investigated!"

"Smart." Frank smiled and tapped on the refund option, which clearly stated that there was a 20% service charge.

"What are you doing?" Whitney quickly stopped Frank as he tapped out and prepared to buy a gift card.

Frank shrugged. "How am I supposed to reel in the big fish if I don't take a loan?"

"There's better ways!" Whitney

harassing Miles Chand, don't they? And you really know how to fight, so you could just catch one of them and interrogate them."

Frank shook his head. "Physical harassment to demand payment is clearly illegal. Communication would be single-sided since it means problems if anything is traced back to them! They'd prefer to keep things simple!"

"Doesn't that mean those thugs would harass you instead?" Whitney pointed out.

Frank shook his head again. "You still don't get it, do you? Well, let's just say I'm sure that their local leader would show up. He needs to make sure they aren't messing with the wrong people."

"Or someone could just go straight to the address included in that smartphone app..."

"That would startle the real boss!"

Whitney nodded in understanding just then.
