Chapter 12: Crucifix of dilemma
CHAPTER TWELVE
Christine’s Pov.
It’s been seven days since I got to Hudson’s house, and I’ve experienced thorns and roses.
Thorns from Fanuel, Roses from Jayden and his mum.
I avoided anything that has to do with Fanuel like plague, it got to a stage where I had to start sensing his scent. He was the only one that uses Ralph Lauren’s Perfume, that expensive shit articulated the whole atmosphere.
Once I sense him nearer, I take another direction.
“I’ve told you to stop doing that shit, you look like a Vampire looking for human flesh to feed on” That’s Laurel, a maid I became acquainted with.
She was nice to me, really nice and I like her a lot.
She reminds me of Diana.
“I have to Laurel, I don’t want to set my eyes on his cute ugly face.”
“That’s so weird, how can you call someone cute and ugly at the same time?”
“That’s because physically he’s cute, but inwardly he’s ugly.”
“What a compliment, I think he likes you.” I gasped in horror.
“Wow!! Thanks Laurel you’re a good psychologist, he’s totally in love with me.” I told her sarcastically and she laughed out loud.
“Scratch that Christine, you know that’s a sarcastic compliment. I still wonder why he harbors hatred towards you.”
“My dad ran away with billions and put him on a crucifix of dilemma, would you love me in his shoes?”
“I would bury you alive”Property of Nô)(velDr(a)ma.Org.
“Now you see why I said some people would be worse than Lucifer, he even tried to let me be like a maid here. You will be wicked Laurel, get the hell out of my sight.” She chuckled and whispered silently.
“I still love you, you know.”
“I despise you”
“Yeah I know, that’s why you can’t do without me.”
“Gosh Laurel, can you get over this Lunch already? Jayden and Mrs Hudson are waiting already.”
“Your guy will be joining them today for lunch, you’re serving them.”
“You mean Fanuel?”
“Who else?”
“Please don’t do this to me, Laurel.”
“I’m doing it already, just be careful okay, we won’t hear another thunder slap today.”
“Laurel.. Come on, at least accompany me to the dining so I won’t slip in horror when I see his face.”
“Byeee…. sweet slaps I advance.” She waved her fingers and exited the kitchen.
Shit! My chest is already beating rapidly as if I ran a marathon. How am I supposed to serve them lunch when an incarnate of hell is there with them.
That’s why she insisted I follow her to the kitchen, she wanted me to finally serve him.
She knew I’ve been avoiding him, she knew about me getting used to his smell…eww! How gross could that be?
I was doing everything within my power to avoid him, but that girl just wanted to get on my nerves.
Aaargh!! They are all waiting, gosh I need to be fast.
Calm down, calm down okay….. breath…it’s just a slap, nothing more.
1.. 2.. 3…Fine.
***********
They were all seated at the couch talking about nothing in particular. I was glad as I used the opportunity to arrange the meal on the table.
Two more maids came and joined me and I couldn’t be more grateful.
The Golden table was huge and long, wide and tall.
Fruits and flowers were displayed horizontally to the very edge, napkins lay side by side till the very edge too.
The food was displayed till the very edge, there were only four, they would never finish such a meal but that’s the ritual here.
Food was like grass to them as it was wasted beyond measure, everything here was lavishly beautiful and breathtaking.
I asked one of the maids to kindly call them to the dining room but they declined saying it wasn’t their duty to call them. I was disappointed.
I puffed out the air anxiously and walked to them.
“I’m really sorry to intrude but lunch is ready.” I surprisingly said that without shaking and Mrs Hudson smiled at me nodding her head.
“Check this out, she made this for me.” She removed the white knitted scarf designed with a shiny pink silky thread at the edge, and her name threaded on the scarf.
I smiled and felt at ease because she loved it.
She had complained bitterly once that her handkerchief was nowhere to be found, it had Hudson’s name on it and she felt really disturbed. I was a pro with knitting so I asked Laurel for help in getting a knitting pin and the finest wool ever.
I spent the night making her a new beautiful one and gave it to her yesterday. I was really scared, she was a billionaire’s wife and could get anything she wants at her beck and call. I thought it wasn’t good enough, i almost gave up but Laurel pushed me into trying.
And her smile…. it was the most beautiful of all as she kept thanking me non stop.
“Wow!! It’s really beautiful, how did you do it?” Jayden asked me and I opened my mouth to answer.
“Shut it and get lost! If you think this is your way of winning my family’s heart with your crafty and useless gifts, it’s not going to work.”
“Fanuel?”
“Shut up Jayden!”
“Let this be the first and the last time I see you anywhere around my brother or mother.” He yelled and I flinched in fear. Tears laced my eyes while I nodded and bent my face.
“What’s that Fanuel?” His mum asked.
“I don’t want her anywhere around you too, The next thing we will hear is she fled taking food items with golden plates and spoons from the mansion.”
“That’s a harsh man.” The fourth guy I haven’t met before finally said something.
“I don’t give a fuck!!! I’m in this shackles of confusion because of her!!”
“It’s because of her Dad!!” Jayden yelled back.
“And what’s the difference huh? You all are getting blinded by this wack and fake pretense emanating from her, when a thief’s blood runs through her veins. She was brought here as a hostage but you let her roam freely and even give her the opportunity of wearing a maid’s uniform, that’s not enough. You let her serve me food!!!
What if she poisoned me or you all?”
I couldn’t hold back the tears as I sniffed. Is that what he thinks of me? A thief, a pretender, a liar, killer? Is this how Webb was?
“You’re unbelievable Fanuel.”
“Edward!! You didn’t come all the way from your house to defend this piece of shit, did you?
“She’s human.”
“So am I, a human dealing with problems without a finite solution to it.”
“Fanuel, I get it that you’re in pain.. you’re running through shitty stuff because of whatever her dad might have caused you and trust me it’s pretty painful. Have you tried contacting the cops to know how far they’ve gone in finding the culprit while you deal with your headache?
I don’t think so, You’re focusing all your energy on an innocent girl, I didn’t give birth to a monster, stop portraying that title.”
“Mum???” He gasped in horror.
“Did you just call me a monster?”
None of them answered him as they all went over to the dinning room to have their lunch.
I was still standing there, head bent downwards when he came closer and yelled like a maniac.”
“GET OUT!!!”
