Chapter 10
It was a good thing that I am ahead in all my classes because I couldn't focus on anything all morning. My brain was split between too many different things and none of them were algebra or what I wanted to do for my English project. I was too busy trying to work out what the code could be, worrying that my mate might be around any corner and worrying about training tonight. It is a shock that I didn't end up walking into a wall or something with how many different directions my mind was going in.
I knew that if I was going to meet my mate at school it would most likely be at lunchtime. So when lunchtime arrived I wasn't sure if I should be relieved for the break or worried about meeting my mate. I walked to the dining hall as quickly as I could, only stopping when I reached the entrance. I looked around the room, expecting to lock eyes with my mate but nothing happened.
I breathed a sigh of relief.
I was the first person of our group to arrive in the dining hall so I sat down at our usual table and waited for the others to arrive. I was sitting at the back of the room, facing towards the wall. Nobody could see my face and nobody would be paying attention to me so I decided to test out my new powers.
I had been able to feel the presence of the other werewolves around me all day. It was passive, I didn't even try to reach out to them to sense her presence. It made me wonder what I could do if I tried to reach out to them. 'Onyx, how do I focus this power?' I asked my wolf.
'If you concentrate on one of the connections at a time you can follow that connection back to the wolf it belongs to.' Onyx replied.
I closed my eyes and concentrated on the connections that I could feel to the other werewolves around me. I started trying to identify who each of those connections belonged to.
I could feel the connections to Ava and Ryker more strongly than any of the other connections. I wondered if this had something to do with how close our friendship was. I could tell that they were moving in my direction and I could feel their emotions. Ava was confused about something and Ryker was excited.
I moved on and started to follow some of the other connections. I found the connection to Charlotte and followed it. She wasn't alone. She was with Felix, I couldn't tell what they were doing but I could feel their arousal and their pleasure. I shuddered.
I think that is enough experimenting for now, I have already learnt much more than I intended to. It was so easy to catch people in compromising situations, I was going to have to be more careful who I connected with in future.
I chuckled to myself. Charlotte and Felix have some kind of thing going on, I really didn't see that one coming. Especially after the way she was flirting with Ryker just a few days ago.
"What is so funny?" Ava asked as she joined me at the table.
"I overheard something and it sounded so ridiculous that I thought it must be a joke." I said.
"That sounds like some serious gossip, you have to tell me at once." Ava shrieks, taking hold of my hands from across the table. I leaned forward.
"I have heard that there might be something going on between Charlotte and Felix." I said keeping my voice low. I didn't want to get caught spreading rumours about the alpha's brother. That kind of attention was the last thing I needed. "No way!" Ava shrieked. She loved gossip, this was going to make her day.

"I thought Charlotte was our friend. Why would she have anything to do with Felix after everything he has done to us?" Ryker asked. He was looking directly at me as he spoke. He sounded nonchalant but there was anger in his eyes. "I think she only ever wanted to get to know you." I said. Ryker groaned.
"Don't remind me." He said, rolling his eyes.
Thinking back to how Charlotte was last week made me wonder if this relationship was a ploy to make Ryker jealous. It was never going to work but you had to give her points for effort.
"Anyway, speaking of gossip, have you worked out who your mate is yet?" Ava asked. She didn't like Charlotte and she had no interest in trying to understand her actions. "Not yet." I said.Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
I was sure when Onyx told me that my mate was close I would meet him at school. Now I didn't know what to think. Maybe he was older and didn't go to school anymore or maybe Onyx's idea of being close by was different to mine. There was a chance that I could probably use my connection to him to trace him. The problem was, I wasn't sure that I was ready to find him. Onyx whimpered. "Hopefully you will find him or her soon." Ava said.
She looked disappointed. I know she was hoping to get some more gossip from me today but she would just have to make do with what she had.
"Oh look, it's the rogue table." Charlotte said.
She walked over to our table. She was looking down her nose at us and she had her arm around Felix's waist. She was acting as though Felix had already agreed to take her as his chosen mate, like she was different from all the other girls that Felix dated. I am sure that they all thought they were special until he got what he wanted from them and broke their hearts. She would be very disappointed when he dumped her in a few days time. Would she try to be our friend again after that or would she find someone else to hang around with?
"Diana, my brother told me that you are joining our training group today." Felix said.
I nodded my head. The adult training was split into groups based on ability. As I was a strong fighter so I was placed in the small elite group that our alpha personally trained. I had never met the alpha, Felix's older brother in person. I guess I would meet him for the first time tonight, I could only hope that he was nothing like Felix.
"I am looking forward to kicking your ass." Felix said.
"You are more than welcome to try." I replied.
Felix did a short snorting laugh before walking away and dragging Charlotte along with him. I watched them walking away while contemplating what she could possibly see in him. Yes he was attractive but he was also an arrogant bully and that for me outweighed his looks by a factor of ten at least.
"Do you really think you can beat him? He is an Alpha's son" Ava asked.
"He is arrogant. He won't think that there is any way I could beat him. It won't be too hard for me to use that against him." I replied. Even if I wasn't an alpha in my own right I was sure that I could beat someone like him. He relied too much on his strength, he had no real skill to speak of.
"Well I want to hear all about it tomorrow." Ava said.
