The Lost Female Alpha

Chapter 30

Elijah took me straight home after the incident with Arthur even though there was still a few hours of school left. He kept at least one hand on me all the way home and I could feel the anxiety coming off him in waves.

He must have already told the rest of the pack about what happened through mindlink. A few of them were waiting for us when we arrived. Elijah opened the car door and they came rushing over to us but as they got closer to me Elijah growled causing them to stop in their tracks.

"Stay away from my mate," he thought.

I was still trying to block out his thoughts but right now he was shouting at the pack with his mind. There was no way I could block that out.

I got out of the car and walked over to where Elijah was standing. He was looking at his own pack members as though they were a threat. I put my hand on his arm, drawing his attention towards me. "I could really do with a rest," I said.

"Of course,” Elijah said. He put his arms around my waist tightly and took me straight to our room. Once we were inside he stopped holding me so tightly but I could still feel his anxiety just as strongly.

"You need to calm down," I said. I pulled him over to the bed and sat down pulling him down beside me.

"How can I when some man is trying to steal you away from me," Elijah said, the pain clear in his voice. "He isn't going to succeed," I replied.

"How can we beat him? He gave me a command and I had no choice other than to follow it. I didn't know that was possible and the mere fact he can do that terrifies me. There is nothing I can do to beat someone who can order me to stop fighting," He said.

"We will work this out, as long as we are together everything will be fine," I replied.

Elijah didn't say anything but he didn't need to when I could feel his emotions as though they were my own. His anger and fear were still so high and his heart was beating so fast. I had never seen this side of Elijah before, he was usually so calm and strong. I wasn't used to seeing him this vulnerable. Although I liked getting to know him better I hoped I wouldn't have to see him like this because of me ever again.

I leaned on his shoulder, with my face buried into his neck. He pulled me closer and started running his fingers through my hair. The tension started to leave his muscles as he held me in his arms and breathed in my scent. His emotions were still erratic as the minutes ticked by they started let level out and his heart rate slowed to a more normal rate.

It was really difficult for me to curb my desire to be proactive. I wanted to spend this time researching my gift or trying to work out who Arthur is but Elijah needs me so I closed my eyes and put my own concerns to one side.

I must have fallen asleep because the next thing I remember is being woken up by a knock on the door. The light was different now, it was starting to get dark so a few hours must have passed us by.

"Who is it," Elijah growled, apparently his mood hadn't improved too much while I was sleeping.

"Ava, I have come to help Diana get ready for the party. It is meant to start in just over an hour," She spoke to us through the door. That was probably a good idea given Elijah's mood. "No." Elijah growled.

"What do you mean?" Ava asked through the door.

"She is staying here with me," He replied.NôvelDrama.Org owns all © content.

"To get ready?" Ava asked.

"No always. She is never leaving my sight again," Elijah growled.

"What is all this commotion about?" Elijah's mom asked before opening into the room and walking in. Ava, Felix and Elijah's parents were all standing in the doorway.

Elijah gripped me tighter. I could feel his urge to growl at them and tell them to leave but he pushed that urge away. Instead he glared at them and said nothing.

"I can understand your urge to keep her away from everyone after what happened today but you can't ignore this party. Alpha's from the nearby packs will be here including the Fuller pack" his father said. "The Fuller pack?" I asked.

I only knew them by reputation. They were one of the packs that was close to our pack physically but their way of life couldn't be more different if they tried.

The Fuller pack still held by a lot of the old rules that most other packs no longer abided by. They still treated women as though they were a commodity and they demoted anyone who couldn't fight to a certain level down to an omega. They were also notorious for treating their omegas worse than most packs treated their prisoners. Their omegas were regularly beaten for minor infractions. Some of the stories that I had heard about what happened in that pack were bad enough to make my blood run cold.

The other packs in the area hated the way that the Fuller pack treated their pack members but there wasn't much they could do about it. They were a strong pack and they had stronger allies. Nobody was willing to go against them because they knew they would back down and it would eventually lead to war.

"Yes. Alpha Fuller is still annoyed that Elijah wouldn't take his daughter as his chosen mate. We don't want to risk angering them further," Elijah's mom said.

I growled. I had never seen Alpha Fuller's daughter but I wanted to rip her throat out. She tried to steal my mate, she needed to pay.

'Don't worry honey, I didn't touch her and I would never have accepted anyone other than you,' Elijah told me over mindlink.

'Really,' I asked. I didn't want to feel worried about her but I couldn't help it. I had never seen her, what if she was gorgeous. 'Of course, you are my mate. I would have waited forever for you if I had to,' he told me.

"Maybe I should get ready. I want to make sure I look perfect when you tell everyone that I am your luna," I said out loud.

Elijah helped me to my feet. He looked into his eyes, I could tell he wanted to tell me something through his mind but it was difficult to read it clearly. I think he was trying to show me how important I was to him. "You are already perfect but I will let you girls have some girl time," He said.

He kissed me on the forehead before walking out of the room, and leaving me alone with Ava and his mom.

"Now the boys have left us, I want to get to know you two better," Elijah's mom said.

I could tell by the grin on her face that she had been looking forward to this for a while.
