Chapter 13
Chapter 13
Dominic's car was a gray Infinity. The exterior had a subtle design. It gave her the same vibe he did —mellow and gentle.
He was the exact opposite of Clark Reid. Belongs © to NôvelDrama.Org.
Clark often drove around in a black Maybach. It was an eye-catching luxury car worth two million dollars.
Why did she suddenly think of him?
Judy bit her bottom lip out of frustration and glanced out the window.
The car had just left the manor as Sally and Lora coincidentally returned. The housekeeper stopped in her tracks.
"Ma'am, wasn't that Mr. Phelps' car?"
Sally nodded. "Why?"
Lora was hesitant. "I just saw… Mrs. Reid in his car."
Sally's face darkened immediately. "Are you sure?"
She nodded solemnly. "Yes. Mrs. Reid sat in the passenger seat. They seemed like they were getting along."
The woman went silent as she glanced in the direction of the gate. Her gaze darkened. "Find out how they met."
Back at the hospital, the pair headed toward Lilly's room as soon as they arrived.
Judy heard her grandmother's laugh as she reached the door. Through the glass door, she spotted the nurse telling her jokes.
Her heart warmed at the sight of Lilly’s gentle smile.
She pushed the door open and Lilly lifted her head. Her eyes lit up as she saw her. "Juju!"
Lilly was extremely excited. Judy rushed over to help her as she shook her head and signed, "You just recovered, you can't get out of bed. You should rest."
Upon her nagging, Lilly lay back on bed. She smiled and said, "My body is still tough, I feel like I'm brimming with energy."
Judy smiled softly. She then peeled an apple and dug out pieces of it into a bowl with a spoon. Afterward, she set a fork in the bowl and handed it to Lilly.
Lilly was incredibly old. The corner of her eyes were aged with wrinkles. Her eyes welled up with tears as she saw how mature her granddaughter had become.
"My darling granddaughter, sorry for being a burden to you."
Judy shook her head slowly and signed.
"We're family, you can't call yourself a burden. You need to rest and make a full recovery soon, grandma. I still want to bring you on trips in the future. Didn't you say you adored the snowy mountains up at Yonnam?"
Lilly replied with a teary smile, "Alright, alright, I'll make sure to recover soon."
This heartwarming scene left Dominic feeling extremely touched. Although he grew up without a father, his mother showered him with huge amounts of love and material goods.
However, the relationship between the pair had still moved him deeply.
Dominic gently spoke up,"I just asked the nurse and she said her condition looks good. I'll go ahead and prepare the documents related to the check-up. You can come to my office with her in a short while."
Judy just remembered that he was present as well. It felt like she'd been ignoring him. Her face flushed slightly in embarrassment.
"Thank you, Dr. Phelps. You've been a tremendous help during the last few days. You're a good person." She signed.
Dominic couldn't comprehend her complicated gestures, but Lilly explained.
"No worries, it's the least I could do." He shot her a smile and left.
Afterward, Lilly began teasing her. "My dearest granddaughter, is this handsome young man your boyfriend? How could you not tell me after I've been unconscious for so long?"
Judy was startled. She didn't expect her to misunderstand their relationship.
Since Lilly had been unconscious for a while, she was unaware of the things that recently took place. Judy didn't want to tell her that she was already married, lest she has one more thing to worry about. Hence, she shook her head and signed again.
"No, grandma. He's the doctor that helped us. He's a very kind person."
Lilly felt slightly disappointed but she got over it swiftly. Her granddaughter was a great catch, she'd find a partner that adores her eventually.
After sitting with Lilly for an entire afternoon, Judy finally left the room and headed toward the director's office. She was planning to ask about the money required for the next major surgery.
To her surprise, Dominic replied with a smile.
"You don't need to worry, Ms. Blake, the bill has already been paid for. The operation is scheduled for next Monday. You don't need to pay for anything else."
