As soon as Walter's car left the parking lot, it got stuck outside. Ban glanced back. "Mr. Lopez, there's been an accident ahead. Multiple roads are blocked." Walter looked at his watch, expressionless. "Clear a path. Have the hospital staff keep Lonely Bird there." "Yes, sir!" Brian replied.
On the main boulevard of Crescentville's CBD, all eight lanes were at a standstill, with cars lined up and unable to move. Suddenly, a sharp siren pierced the air. Two motorcycles sped down the road, forcing the cars in the right lane to swerve aside. Right behind them, a sleek, luxurious Maybach cruised through smoothly. The other drivers could only watch, frustrated but silent. The moment they saw the license plate, they knew better than to mess with the owner of that car. Shakira stood at the doorway, watching the scene inside the ward.
Rebecca was slicing an apple, Mitchell held a cup of water, and Jessie was gently wiping Yvette's calves, forming a loving family picture.
Yvette
e had blatantly plagiarized and cheated in front of the whole world, making the Nelson family lose face in public. Yet in less than a day, the Nelson family had forgiven her. She had just fainted, and the whole family had rushed to her side, personally taking care of her, not trusting anyone else to
do so.
Shakira thought back to her past life. When the accident happened during her birthday party, the Nelson family had strictly forbidden her from going out and scolded her.
When she was at her weakest, after donating her kidney, she woke up in the hospital room to find only a nurse. The Nelson family didn't visit her for days, and when they finally did, it was just a brief stop between their busy schedules.
It wasn't until she returned home and overheard Yvette casually mention it that she realized why. The Nelson family had been too busy tending to Yvette, bringing her water and peeling her fruit.
Now, the scene she had never witnessed in her past life was playing out right in front of her, and it struck Shakira as deeply ironic.
Rebecca and the others stood up, watching as a group of people entered. "Mr. Tucker, what's going on?"
"Mrs. Nelson, this is Lonely Bird, a direct disciple of the renowned Dr. Matthew Goodman. She's here with a project she'd like to discuss with you," Dale explained.
Hearing this, the people in the room gasped in shock, unable to believe that Lonely Bird would personally come to them.
Yvette looked overwhelmed with surprise, quickly turning her gaze to Shakira, who was now surrounded by the crowd. Shakira's outfit was mysterious, concealing every inch of her skin except for her amber eyes, which were now fixed on Yvette, filled with an icy, distant detachment. Suddenly, a flash of memory struck Yvette-Shakira's eyes. But she quickly pushed the thought out of her mind. How can I possibly associate Shakira with this important figure standing before me? That bitch can't be Lonely Bird, she thought. Mitchell was the first to react, eyeing Shakira suspiciously. "Lonely Bird?"
Dale quickly caught onto Mitchell's skepticism. "Mr. Nelson, this is indeed Dr. Lonely Bird. Just earlier in the emergency room, there was an incident, and thanks to Dr. Lonely Bird, three lives were saved." 08:29 C70%

Remembering how close they came to disaster, Dale felt a cold sweat break out across his back. With Dale's confirmation, the Nelson family finally relaxed.
Rebecca stepped forward, taking Shakira's hand and offering prase. "I always thought the legendary Dr. Lonely Bird would be older. I never expected such a young lady-so accomplished at such a young agel My son Felix has been wanting to collaborate with you for a while, but due to some misunderstanding, you declined. Are you here today to..
Shakira's a's voice was ho**se as she replied, "A task came up last minute. As for Mr. Felix Nelson's collaboration, there will be opportunities for us to discuss it in the future."
She paused, , her gaze shifting toward Yvette. Dale, sensing the tension, quickly explained the situation. As soon as he finished, before anyone else could respond, Jessie was the first to speak up. "Absolutely not!"

Her heart

d to look at her, and Jessie hastily added, "Yvette's health has always been fragile, and we don't lack money. How can we let Yvette take a risk with a procedure that's not 100% proven?" was racing-Yvette couldn't undergo this experiment. She wasn't truly sick; the kidney transplant was just a way to transfer Shakira's good fortune to Yvette.
"That's right." Rebecca agreed, nodding along with Jessie's reasoning. "Why not give this opportunity to a more suitable patient?"
The underlying message was clear. The Nelson family didn't lack money, and Shakira should go find a poorer patient who couldn't afford treatment.
Behind her mask, Shakira's a's lips curled into a mocking smile. She spoke, "This experiment poses no health risks to the patient. There isn't another suitable candidate in Crescentville like Ms. Yvette Nelson. Since Ms. Nelson is also in need of a kidney, why not give it a try? Doesn't Ms. Nelson want to recover as soon as possible?" Lowering her voice, she added, "If the progress is smooth, I can finish this task early. Then the collaboration with Mr. Felix Nelson can move forward sooner. Wouldn't that be beneficial for everyone?" At first, Rebecca was unwilling, but hearing this, she hesitated. Felix had been passionate about medicine. When he found out there was an opportunity to collaborate with Lonely Bird, he was more excited than when he got into his dream college. He even stayed up for several nights writing reports.
After the collaboration fell through, Felix locked himself in his lab for days and refused to come out. Rebecca felt bad for herso
Seeing her wavering, Yvette cursed Lonely Bird inwardly for being manipulative. She immediately put on a pitiful expression. "Mom, Felix has admired Dr. Lonely Bird for a long time. If agreeing to her experiment means securing Felix's collaboration, I'm more than willing to do it him." Rebecca felt a wave of relief wash over her, but Yvette continued, "Td be happy to do anything for Felix. But I also remember him often saying that in medicine, every step needs to be taken with extreme caution. Sometimes even the smallest detail can cause irreversible consequences..."
Yvette bit her lip. "Dr. Lonely Bird, are you really certain that I'm the right candidate for this experiment? And can you guarantee there won't be any complications?"
Shakira's lips curled, having seen though Yvette's trick. "Ms. Nelson, rest assured. I would never proceed carelessly with something like this. Could you please go downstairs for a full examination right now to make sure you meet the requirements?" Paul, who had been silent up to this point, immediately spoke up. "Don't worry, I will personally oversee Ms. Nelson's examination." vette Yvette nodded, a hint of relief softening her expression. "Thank you, Dr. Jenkins."

Rebecca clasped Yvette's hand tightly. "Yvette, it makes me so happy to see how much you care about Felix."
Yvette returned her smile. "Mom, we're family-this is nothing.
Shakira turned to leave, dismissing their words with a quiet sco
Once changed, Yvette obediently entered the examination room Shakira, however, was stopped at the door by Paul. "Outsiders aren't allowed. You're not a doctor at this hospital. I'm sure you knows the rules," Paul said, wearing a smug look. Shakira chuckled. "Of course,
As the door slowly closed in front of her, Shakira's smile faded. She moved to a corner, pulled out her laptop, and tapped lightly on the keyboard. The screen soon displayed the live feed of the ongoing examination.
Through the security camera footage, Shakira could see the monitor showing Yvette's test results in real time. As the images of Yvette's kidney scans appeared on her screen, Shakira's eyes narrowed slightly.
Outside, the Maybach glided into the hospital's parking lot. The door opened, and Walter, expressionless, descended in a mechanical wheelchair. Brian followed closely behind, saying, Tonely Bird is in the nephrology department."
