Chapter 166
RYN
A few days later, I entered Diamond city around seven a.m, and my first desire was to go straight to the Windermere
mansion.
But I wasn’t sure about the situation with Chelsea, so I booked a hotel room instead.
Once I showered and got settled, I sat on the bed, feeling uneasy I have been feeling this way for the past few days, and as my wolf paced restlessly, I couldn’t figure out why.
Could it be because I was nervous about seeing Theon and Miro Or because I am worried about how I am going to tell both brothers I am their mates?
What will happen after? Will they be in denial? Especially Miro. Will he accept or reject me?
Sacred Moon. I never realized how serious this was.
Letting out a sigh, I realized I was getting worked up, so I decided to think about it later.
Bringing out my phone, I dialed a number from memory. Then my heart thudded like crazy as I heard it ring.
“Hello?” An unsure female voice answered.
“Hi Sadie. It’s me, Ryn.”
“Good gods! Where have you been?! I missed you!”
I released a breath of relief. “I missed you too, Ginger. I’m sorry I left the way I did.”
“Oh no! It’s okay.” My best friend replied. “I heard Uncle Finnegan forced you.”
My brows furrowed. “You mean the King.”
“Yes. His name is Finnegan. Appropriate name for an asshole, right?”
I smiled. “Yeah. I agree.” Then my smile faded. “Have you heard from your cousins?”
“Actually, now that you mention, I haven’t heard from them in days. In fact, they haven’t responded to my text message asking about you.”
“Okay, that’s weird.”
“I know, right? I’ll talk to my Dad.”
“Wait!”
“Yeah?”
“Can you not let your parents know that I am back yet? I just need some time to adjust.”
I sensed hesitation on her end. “Yeah sure. Of course, So where are you now?”
I wondered if I should tell her all the truth. “At a hotel.”
“Ooooh fancy. Can we meet later for lunch?”
I froze, wondering if that’s safe.
“Yeah sure. We can.”
“Awesome. I have so much gist!”
“Looking forward to it”

“And oh, less I forget, Adam came by asking of you and he told me to tell you to call him as soon as you reach out. Says it’s urgent.”
“Oh okay. I’ll do that.”
“And one more thing!”
I gave a sharp sigh. I really did miss this girl. “Yes?”
“Check your socials.” She giggled, then the call ended, and I suddenly got a weird sort of excitement.
Going through my bag, I retrieved a small book where I wrote other people’s numbers, and as I searched for Adam’s name, I wondered why he needed to speak to me so urgently.
Was it because of the letter I sent to him? Or something else?
I found his number, and after dialing it, it went straight to voicemail, so I left a message.
Minutes later, I got his text to meet somewhere.
About forty minutes later, I was sitting in a little cafe in the middle of the city, sipping out of a milkshake while waiting for Adam. Out of curiosity, I downloaded social media to check what’s happening.
The first thing I noticed was the crazy influx of notifications, so much so that my phone froze, and I had to put it down and just let it happen. After a while, I picked it up and when I went to Instagram; I realized my following had quadrupled.
My jaws dropped in shock and then I checked my notifications, and saw the comments of people who all of a sudden knew I was a good person.
“You didn’t deserve all that hate, Ryn. Sending love and light.”
I scoffed and rolled my eyes.
“I knew there’s no way you could have hurt your best friend. People are so mean. #RynIsInnocent #JusticeforRyn #BillieIsALyingBitch”
The more I went through the notifs, the more I was torn between bursting into tears or rolling my eyes out of their sockets. Then a familiar username caught my eye.
max20499.
Wasn’t he the bastard that said something about my parents?
Now, this time, he created a post and had the nerve to tag my name.
Tapping on the notification, I was taken to a childhood photo of me and Billie when we were kids.
Then I read his caption.
“I always knew Ryn was innocent. Billie and her father are evil people! #JusticeForRyn”
Rage like no other filled me and before I knew it, my fingers were flying on my keyboard and in the comment section.

“FUCK YOU! You lying stinky snake! You said I was the reason my parents ran away and died and now you’re here acting like you weren’t one of the mean people who tried to ruin me! Go fuck yourself, spineless bastard!”
And then, I pressed ‘send‘, flung my phone on the table, and gripped my hair in vibrating anger.
Sitting there, I had no idea how long I stayed like that. All I did was focus on my breathing to calm my nerves, then suddenly my phone buzzed with a text and I reached for it.
Surprisingly, it was from The Watcher.
“You look upset.”
I frowned and immediately looked around for cameras. Then I found one high up in a corner with a tiny red dot of a light on it.
My phone buzzed again. “Hi Kathryn.” Then a wave emoji followed.
“Are you stalking me now?”
“Think of it more like watching over you. You’ve got enemies in high places, you didn’t think I’d let you go alone, did you?”
I released a breath, not sure if I should find that revelation creepy or soothing.
I realized both
were the case.
“Why were you upset?”
I rolled my eyes and shook my head. “Never mind. It’s stupid.”
There was a pause, then another ding.
“I want to know.”
I leaned back in my chair, suddenly losing appetite in my milkshake. I needed someone to talk to, so I decided I’d give Mr. Anonymous a try. NôvelDrama.Org content rights.
That’s when I told him about max20499 and how upset his recent post made me feel.
“He will be taken care of,” Came the Watcher’s reply.
Wait what? I sat up. “How? Are you going to find who he is and kill him?
Another pause.

“Is that what
you
want?”
I blinked in surprise. “No! I wish he’d suffer, but I don’t want him dead.”
“Consider it done.”
I sat there, baffled. What did that mean? Is the Watcher really going to punish some Instagram user?
“Ryn?”
I jerked my head up and found Adam standing close to my table. His hair had grown a bit longer and he now had a bit of a moustache situation going on.

Immediately, I got out of my seat and entered his embrace. Adam let me in and wrapped his arms around me, and I noticed he smelt like expensive cologne and…blood.
I froze before pulling back. Watching him warily, I asked. “Is everything okay?”
His blue eyes searched mine and his face became solemn. “No. Nothing is okay.”
Immediately, I pulled a chair so we could talk. “Talk to me.”
“Prince Theon and Prince Miro are in trouble.”
My heart plummeted to the depths of my stomach. “What do you mean, in trouble?”
“I don’t know what happened exactly, but I think the King is holding them hostage. Prince Theon sent me an SOS through a mind link and when I went there undercover, I barely made it out alive.”
As Adam said that, he pulled the collar of his shirt aside to reveal a nasty large claw running from his shoulder down to his chest and out of sight. I looked at him in horror.
“Why do you think the King did that?” –
“I don’t know, but ever since they went to the East-”
“The East?” I cut in.
“Yes. That’s where they are right now, along with some mutants that we caught and delivered to the King. I have no idea what the King is doing to the Princes but I am very sure he is using the mutants for an experiment.”
“Good gods!” I muttered under my breath. “Did The–I mean Prince Theon, did he sound upset or…”
Adam’s face morphed into an expression of worry. “When he reached out, he seemed….” His voice trailed off, his expression shifty.
“He seemed what?” I pressed impatiently.
“He seemed like he was going to die.”
Now I understood why my wolf has been uneasy for the past couple of days. Without hesitating, I hit the speed dial for The Watcher and excused myself from the table.
“I heard.” His distorted voice said.
“So, are you going to help?”
“I don’t really like the twins very much.”
“Well, without their mark, I get nothing and I become useless to you, so are you going to help or not? Plus, you get to save your friends, too.”
There was a pause at the other end. “Give me an hour and you’ll get an army.”
Lexhaled in relief, despite shaking all over. “I’ll be waiting.”
