The word 'divorce' instantly awakened a shred of sanity in him. Ethan rolled over onto his side, pinched his brow, and said in a muffled voice, "I'm sorry."
Mr. Carter Sr. had just said that she had always wanted to have a child, but for three years, Ethan hadn't taken any measures, thinking that if they had a child, it would keep her with him. But in those three years, she hadn't shown any signs of pregnancy. The old man had spoken a little too harshly just now, and Ethan thought Emma had mentioned something to Grandpa, which had caused him to reprimand him in that way.
Thinking that she had agreed to the divorce, his originally relaxed mood was now tinged with unhappiness. Didn't she love him very much? Why did she agree to divorce so easily? Could it be that her emotions were all fake?
After this argument, Emma had some insomnia. She didn't dare to look at Ethan, only closing her eyes and pretending to sleep.
Ethan suddenly turned his head to look at her. Through the moonlight, he seriously looked at this woman who had accompanied him for three years for the first time. Even if she did not show her face in the camera, her features were still delicate and attractive, her skin was fair and smooth. She always wore home clothes, and her gentle and virtuous appearance was easy to overlook.
Perceiving Ethan's intense gaze, Emma felt like she was sitting on pins and needles. She didn't know how long it took before she gradually drifted off to dreamland.
The next day, Emma was undoubtedly up late, but to her surprise, Ethan wasn't awake either. The man was incredibly handsome, and his face alone was enough to make many women fall in love with him.
When she saw the frown on his face, Emma immediately withdrew her gaze, dressed quickly, and ran to the bathroom to wash up.
When she came out of the bathroom, Ethan was changing clothes. His broad chest and robust body, without a trace of excess fat, fully exemplified the phrase "muscular when shirtless, lean when dressed." "Have you seen enough?"
His low and cold voice rang out, startling Emma. Her cheeks instantly turned red. She bowed her head and whispered, "Sorry," then hurriedly walked out.
The two of them said goodbye to Mr. Carter Sr. and returned to the villa. Emma went straight upstairs to organize her things. On her way home, she heard Ethan calling his assistant to send him the new divorce papers. It was time to leave.
Looking back at the room she had lived in for three years, Emma's heart suddenly felt heavy, as if weighed down by a heavy stone. Remembering her time with Ethan, she realized that what she thought she could live with was actually too much to bear.
Her love for Ethan had already been deeply rooted in her bones and marrow, deeply imprinted in her soul. How could she let go of it so easily? But what was the point of not being able to let go?
She came to Ethan with her heart, but it was trampled into the mud. He didn't love her, and that alone was the death sentence for her love three years ago.
As Emma adjusted and carried her suitcase downstairs, she saw Olivia snuggled in Ethan's arms with her divorce papers in front of them.
Emma's steps faltered. She hadn't
even left yet, and he was already so
eager to bring Olivia over, not even bothering to leave her with a shred of decency. As much as he'd favored her, he'd treated her ruthless
"Is Ms. Emma leaving?" Olivia was a little surprised, a hint of worry spreading across her face. "Have you found a new place to live? If you don't have a place, even though you and Ethan are divorced, you can still stay temporarily, right Ethan?"
She looked at Ethan with a tolerant and generous expression.
