Is she going to kill Melissa
“They are moving, I have to get to Melissa.” Mark glanced at the tracker in his hand.
“We are almost there.” Robert fastened his seat belt.
“Once they pass the bridge it will be too late. Call Andrew and the police chief, they have to close the road.” Mark instructed him. “I can’t lose you again Melissa.” He said to himself looking at the wedding ring on his left hand clutching the steering wheel.
“Careful bro. We can’t save her if we are dead.” Seated beside Mark, Robert cautioned as he accelerated the speed.
“We are running out of time, Robert. I promised to protect her.”
“And you will get her back.”
On the other side, David and his security team raided the house. They shot dead most of Diana’s men, injuring several of them.
“Where did they take my sister?” He beat up one of the guards but no matter how hard he hit him, he didn’t say a thing.
“Stop, you’re going to kill him.” The lady who helped Melissa shouted. “These people know nothing, even if you kill them they won’t talk.”
“So what if I kill you? You seem to know where they are taking her.” David got his gun out walking towards her. “Talk or I’ll put a bullet between your eyes.” He threatened, holding the gun on her forehead. “Will you talk?” His finger on the trigger, he coldly stared into her eyes.
“Aah!”
“Stop, stop.” She shouted when David shot the man beside her in the foot. “Please stop hurting them. I’ll tell you, but not here.” She pleaded.
“Get up.” David took her to a separate room followed by Jason.
“Talk.” He ordered pushing her into the room.
“What’s in it for me? Ouch!” David slapped her causing her to fall on the coach.
“You think this is a joke?” He almost punched her but Jason held his hand.
“Calm down man.”
“No, every minute we waste put’s Melissa’s life in grave danger.”
“Then we kill her since she knows nothing.” Jason took out his gun and at her.
“Aah! I’ll tell you.” She cried curled up on the couch. “A…a small plane is waiting in the east. It will take them out of the country. I told Melissa to get out before they get to the plane.” She explained.
“Is she going to kill Melissa?” David asked, sitting at the table before her.
“No, what she has planned for her is worse. She is taking Melissa to a madhouse. Being surrounded by crazy people can break anyone. That is what Daina wants. For Melissa to be trapped in her own body watching as she takes everything from her.” She told them of Diana’s plans.
“You’re coming with us.” David pulled her up as Jason called his team to make sure the plane did not take off.
“Mark is onto them,” Jason said, joining David in the car.
“We need to back them up. We are a long way out.”
“There’s a shortcut.” Cuffed in the backseat, the nurse offered to help.

Lying in the backseat, Melissa opened her eyes.
She smiled looking at the necklace. She had picked it up as the men took her out of the room. ‘Please save.” She silently prayed for the people tracking it to save her.
The day Mark gave her the necklace, he made her promise never to take it off. The gold chain necklace was the first gift he bought her after their reconciliation and she never thought he would put a tracker in it.
At that moment it was the only thing she had from him. The possibility of losing him forever broke her heart but she didn’t want to believe it. She didn’t believe he had died in the explosion. She couldn’t lose him again.
Holding onto the necklace, the hope of reuniting with her family kept her going.
‘Get out anywhere at the bridge and run into the forest.’ Looking outside the window she remembered the lady’s instructions.
From where she lay, all Melissa saw were trees. The road was surrounded by endless trees.
Getting the knife from her blouse sleeve, Melissa slowly got up. Watched Diana’s movements before sitting behind her holding the knife against her throat.
“Stop the car, Diana.” She threatened firmly holding the knife to her throat.
“Oh I see, someone has failed to do their job. I should have killed that little nurse when I wanted to.” Diana said her hands firmly on the wheel. “Now, now, what will you do Melissa? Slit my throat?” Diana laughed mockingly. “We both know you have no guts to do it.” She kept taunting her.
“Diana, please stop this. That Diana I grew up with is not a cold blooded murderer. Stop the car, let’s talk this out, please.” Melissa tried to persuade her.
“Ha ha ha, that’s your problem, Melissa. You look for the good in everyone. You are weak.” She stopped the car abruptly and hit Melissa on the face with her elbow making her drop the knife. “I told you, you are weak and pathetic.”
“Diana, remember the days we went horse riding? Those days we went swimming and how godmother had to pull us out every time. We promised to be sisters forever and despite everything you are still my sister, Diana.”
“Shut up Melissa. I was never your sister.” Looking at the bridge ahead from a distance, she saw the police barricade blocking the road and behind her, the vehicles gained in on her fast after overpowering her men.
Slowing down she looked from the numerous police vehicles to the trees around.
“Stop the car, there is no way out. I promise to make sure they don’t hurt you, just let me go.” Melissa pleaded with her covering her now swelling eye.
“You are wrong. I can’t let you be happy Melissa, and no one will stop me because there is always a way out.” Diana said stepping on the gas panel driving towards the bridge.
“Diana, stop. Let’s talk about this. I’ll give you anything you want.” Melissa pleaded as Diana accelerated.
“There is nothing you can say or do to bring back all that I have lost.” Diana roared, reaching for her gun.
“I can’t let you do this.” Melissa got up trying to get the steering wheel but Diana hit her on the head with the gun making her fall unconscious against the door.
“We die together, Melissa.” Diana swore turning the car off the road.
She hit the bridge barrier and the car went off the bridge driving uncontrollably down the steep hill. When it hit a stone, it lost control making it overturn several times ending at the bottom of the cliff near the river.
“No!” Seeing the car Melissa was in veer off the road, Mark stopped his car. He ran out to save her as Robert went after him.
“Melissa! Melissa?” He called out trying to push Robert off as he held him down when the car exploded. “Melissa, I have to save her.” Despite his recent injury, he managed to break from Robert’s hold and ran towards the burning car when
“Mark, stop. There is nothing we can do.”
“No, I can’t lose her. Melissa! Please tell me she is not gone.” He cried struggling to go to the car wreck but Jason and Robert held him down on the grass as Mr. Edward and the police stopped David.
