“Sir,” one of the paramedics stopped his advances. “You’re not allowed to get near to the patient, we’ll take it from here.”

Tyler knows that, he knows, but for some reason, his words set rage in his heart. He glared at the guy and almost pushed him aside. “I’ll accompany you to the hospital. Let me in in the ambulance.”

The other looked at him strangely before looking behind him over his shoulder. Out of almost 200 people in the hotel, 3 died- which are the security guards manning the doors and doing patrols- and one injured. The injured lady is currently being escorted by paramedics on a stretcher. Her condition is not looking good since she lost too much blood, they have to perform blood transfusion as soon as possible. He looked back at the man who was insisting on getting on the ambulance and asked, “What is your relation to the patient, sir?”

This made Tyler paused and his kind almost lost its function. That’s right, who is he to Althea? How are they related? Lovers? Ex-lovers? Friends? Colleagues?

No matter how he looks at it, the closest one is the colleagues since they were business partners, still, it’s not enough to gain the permission. The paramedic looked at him and sighed, “If it’s already clear to you, please obey. You can still visit her in the hospital after the operation. We can't delay any more

longer, the more time we consume from idling, the more dangerous it is for the patient. Thank you very much for understanding.”

With that, he turned around and left.

Tyler was left alone, and he can only stare at them hoisting the stretcher with Althea on it and put it in the ambulance. The last thing he saw before the door closes were the paramedics set everything in a hurry and precise manner, and the sleeping pale face of Althea. Then, as the ambulance serin rang and it drove away from the hotel, he can only do nothing but stare and stood there like a statue.

He was already at the ground floor, outside of the hotel. As soon as the paramedics arrived at the scene, he exited with them and followed them outside. He was planning on following them to the hospital, but he was not allowed to do so. He stood alone on a cold night; he can hear the bustling noises of the other guests near by trying to get away from the scene as possible. Some looked terrified while the others look fine. People like Tyler has a decent amount of death threats and near to death experiences, either kidnapping for money, or planned murder from their rivals.

He can see the red and blue lights of the police’s light and the polices carrying the dead bodies on the stretchers. There are many people nearby but it feels like he was all alone in this world.

“Tyler!” Upon hearing his name being called, he looked over his shoulder and saw April, Dave, Aaron, and Sheryl running towards him.

Sheryl was the one in front and the last one was Aaron. When Sheryl arrived in front of him, she directly held his hand and asked in a frantic manner. “How are you, hun? Are you hurt somewhere? Should we go to the hospital?”

Tyler tiredly removes her hand on him and replied coldly, he was not in the mood, “No, I’m not hurt.”

Sheryl ignored his cold words and held his hand again. “Are you sure? Did that bitch did anything to you?”

“What?” He held her hand tightly instead of removing it again. His grip was so hard that Sheryl’s face contorted in pain."Watch what goes out from your mouth woman." He threatened.

“Tyler- that hurts!”

He remained deaf to her cries and gripped her hand even tighter. Sheryl squirmed in pain, even the other three was alarmed. Even though April wants to see her in pain, she doesn’t want her to suffer physically. She tried to pry his hand away from Sheryl, “Hey Tyler, stop. No matter what- Sheryl’s a woman- and she’s your fiancée.”

Tyler’s facial expression relaxed a little and his grip loosen. Sheryl immediately took back her hand and caressed it, she can see the red marks of his finger on her pale, delicate skin. Sheryl almost cried, not because of the marks, but because it was the first time where he used strength to her. She was scared.

April peek a look at Tyler before looking away, both Dave and Aaron was silent.

Silence fell to the group until a woman approached them.

“Goodness,” the elegant woman said. “I did not know that something like this will transpire, treating a high-class hotel as their escape route and holding all of us high-class people as their hostages is unheard off!”

Tyler only knows one person with that kind of confidence, he looked at the woman who was carrying the same green eyes as his. He greeted her. “Mother.”

“How are you son, are you hurt?” Victoria asked.

He shook his head. “I’m not.”

“Good,” she nodded her head. She looked at the other three and nodded at them before talking to April. “I hope you’ll take action on this.”

April nodded her head. “Yes madam, everything that happen tonight is suspicious. There’s a chance that it was planned, considering how prepared they were and how they suddenly retreated. It is low, but as long as there is, we will investigate.”

Yes, them escaping from the police and entering the hotel where many people with high statuses were gathering is far from coincidence.

Victoria nodded her head once more, very satisfied with her response. “Good.” Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.

They were silent again, Victoria was a little bit fidgety, and she was looking here and there, they noticed it. Tyler was the only one who dared to ask her about it. “Is something wrong?”

“Hmm… I am looking for Althea. We were at the same party but when she said she’ll just go to the bathroom, she never came back. I thought that she already went home but I received no message from her.”

The other three almost froze when they hear that, they all asked the same question in their mind; the two already know each other? Among the three of them, Sheryl received the greatest shock. April, on the other hand, already knew this. But it hits different when she hears it from the other party.

Tyler was the one who answered. “She was taken to the hospital.”

“Oh my!” Victoria’s eyes widen in shock. “She was injured? Why?”

“…” He sighed. “It’s a long story.”

"Is that so?" Victoria sighed. "It is very unfortunate, I told her that about going to the hospital earlier but she didn't listened and still went to the bathroom, now look what happened."

Tyler furrowed his brows. "Hospital? Did something happened?"

Victoria looked at him and repeated his words, "It's a long story."
